The wallies do little in the way off troop movement and I sneak a DD away from the med for convoy duty off England. I think I should start considering the logistics for Russian supply convoys with Germany's latest actions.

Wallies tech research progress to date. 2 more turns need to pass before the limit of one per catagory is lifted. I expect the German subs to be more active next season as they must be close to an improved model by now. You can see I'm still putting points into ASW each turn.

Russia fall 40

Stalin still refuses to acknowledge tbe huge build up on the western border. All I can say is I'm glad I started building the 5 inf and 5 arty last turn!

Wallies fall 40

A German sub ventures out of port but holds off Germany, I think my DD screen and the fact they are still 2/2 is stopping the AI from attacking my Atlantic convoys. Rather than hunt it I send the Bomber in England to fly CAP over our convoys and will wait for them to come to me.

One bomber is built in Canada and another in Scotland to go with the new British Carrier this turn. I'm feeling good about my builds so far, I think I'm going to be able to defend a convoy route for supplies to Russia if its required without getting beat up too bad by the German navy.

Strategic map screen, note the transport route to retireve Brazils rp's and also how I've recalled the route to Australia to have enough for the north supply run in England. I'll start to build transports in Victoria after I get another couple ground units there for defense.

Another important change to note: Areas now only send their resources if a rail or transport link is available so I can no longer retrieve all the African RP's by simply putting one transport off of the coast of Africa. The same goes for S.American RP's too, a great change for the game.

Russia winter 40

With what seems like the entire German army on the doorstep I'm presented with a tough choice. Build more inf and armor putting me over the 5 unit limit that would cause an increase of one to upgrade or upgrade now. I choose the latter and spend on upgrading my units. This wouldn't be an issue on the next turn as the tech limits are lifted, I still build a couple AA and spend the rest on supply.

China winter 40

Oh noes! Mao Tse Runnnnnnnn.

I'm left with 1 inf and 3 militia in Chunking and its factory is damaged. With two factories still up I place two infantry back on the map, hardly enough to deal with the horde.

Wallies winter 40

The German sub that stopped short of going into the Atlantic last turn gets a little braver after the tech upgrade gives them a 2 point advantage. One sub into the Atlantic aint so bad is it?

Even bringing a second destroyer in doesn't increase my odds much of hitting the sub off Canada. [:(]

I attack and lose a destroyer. I learn my lesson and attack the 2 subs in the middle Atlantic with just a bomber and CAG to 'drive them deep' so i can still move supply across the Atlantic this turn.

The tech upgrades for ASW are welcome indeed. The wallies end the turn backing away its ships from Gibralter and creating a large fleet in the Irish sea to deal with the subs in future seasons.

Russia spring 41

Throwing production into tech last turn didn't bite me on the arse as the Germans hold in Poland. I start more unit builds and put production into inf attack and armor ( now 7/7 and trailing German tech by 1 )

I'm guessing the Germans will strike next season, but all I can do is wait and see.

The Japanese hold aswell, presumably to reinforce in China. We are outnumbered badly and don't look forward to the summer at all.

Wallies spring 41

The U-boats vanish after sinking a couple transports, I find them back at port resupplying. The bombers are ordered on CAP and we deploy our shipping to protect the convoys across the Atlantic. The task force in the med is broken up as well to bring 2 more DD's back into play in the Atlantic.

Maximum production goes into ASW as The wallies try to get to 3's with DD's CAG's and Bombers. Its expensive with a total cost of 16 of our available 39 production points but the Germans still have 9 subs in play even after damaging a few this turn.

A note here: German subs are only a 3 turn build and 50% of the time one is damaged it will only require one turn to repair. I plan on combating that wrinkle by ganging up on subs i do attack with enough force to kill them instead of just damaging them.

Our response is to make that 'beep beep' back up sound and turtle until the winter.

With the Germans having a full point advantage in inf, armor and fighters there is no choice but to fall back and try and weather the storm until an even footing can be reached.

The Wallies are a little better prepared to deal with them this time. One kill off Canada and 2 others damaged with no loss to shipping.

The Italians move into the central med and pull back their militia in Tripoli. The Wallies have had time to get a strong enough garrison in Cairo though so we'll let them think they are in control until we can get a handle on the subs in the Atlantic. There is again 9 subs in play but with the CAG units going to 3 attack the wallies are starting to get the upper hand.

I can see these subs being a pain, the wallies cant get supply to Russia yet and that spells trouble. A few more transports are cue'd and the merchant marine will be called on to take one for the team in the turns to follow if the Germans keep investing in subs.

Russia fall 41

The Germans continue to advance into Russia and appear to have exposed a few units to danger. After checking some odds I decide its not worth the risk to force the issue yet and with only 40 supply perhaps even dangerous for me too. Winter arrives next turn so I'll prepare for a full scale reply then.
