RE: New patch CTD - repeatable

Post by ericbabe »

Thanks again Jim for the save game.  I was able to reproduce the crash with it under the debugger.  It does seem to be a problem related to the April levee: the actual crash was caused by the game trying to build a unit of type zero and I may have found something in the new levee code that can, under the right circumstances, issue an order to build a zero-unit.

I've fixed the thing that was capable of causing the bad order and hopefully have made it so that bad orders (if they do get issued somehow) will simply cause nothing to happen.  Once I get everything rebuilt I'll upload the new build to the COG beta testers.  If you'd like, I'll e-mail you a copy as well.  If everything checks out OK, maybe we can have a new official patch by early next week.

Eric,

Just got back to the forum (actually, just woke up out here in sunny AZ).

Unless you say otherwise I'll assume you do not need another set of saved files with this bug. Glad to hear you have a finger on the problem.

Sarge,

I had no problem installing the new patch. It saved where expected and I verified that I am playing the new version, 1.2.25...

If you'd like, I can e-mail you the zip file with the new build and you can check to see whether it runs your save game properly or not.

Just got bounce-back from this e-mail address. (I remembered to take out the space.) Do you have another address, or is it possible there's a typo in this?

Hmmm...email is correct and I tested it. Did you remember the "dot" after ds? In any event, please retry, and cc this one: lwea34@ yahoo.com (no spaces). Thanks much.

Centio yours already bounced. It also says it's an illegal attachment. I've tried to send it once more but I think you'll need a less restrictive email account, do you have a yahoo account?

Jim

Edit: Second attempt bounced too, sorry.

Received and downloaded. Thanks Jim.

So far, I tried two games and rolled right past April without any problems. 1805 campaign and 1796 campaign. Also a saved game that now works.

Will continue to play around with it and report later.

Uh [shielding my face with my arms] ... any chance of getting a flag/option put in for the new update to allow for 'always detailed battle?'

I know, patience is a virtue.
