AI Opponent - the player takes one side and the Artificial Intellengent Opponent plays the other.
This means 100% AI Opponent ?

Playing the computer opponent at my pace and my convenience is my initial preference. I don't have any experience with this game nor time to commit to long campaigns with human opponents. At some point later once I'm comfortable with the game and my schedule becomes less hectic, I'll consider pbem. I'm in the same boat with EiA, and still waiting for that game to get up to speed before I claim any sort of quality experience there. I have played other games via pbem so I'm not opposed to that or anything; my preference for now is the AI.

solitaire : 0%
AI : 0 % (if the AI is not challenging at all I won't play against it, but if it's a good one I can raise to 20%)
PBEM : 80 % (the easiest way to play the game when you want to, but at the price of a slow pace)
netplay : 20 % (would like more but I can't figure how I could negociate with my wife and son to stand whole afternoon and evenings in front of the PC)
face to face : 0%

Sorry.[:(] Perfection is an elusive goal - one I struggle with everyday. The more pressure I feel and/or the deeper I am into complex problems, the more my social skills atrophy. But that has been true for me since 1st grade.[8|]

I'm impressed by the effort and skill that you have put into porting WiF to the computer. [&o] I'm impressed and overwhelmed by the scope of this game and the skill of the players here. I'm intrigued and definitely interested in it and definitely want to give it a go. But; I feel I don't have the time to learn it properly or time to play someone else. That's why I'm interested in AI and Solitaire play.

I think it was a suggestion by the "Mad Russian" in another thread who suggested that the best way to learn this game was play as the Allies as they historically had to "learn" how to fight the Germans.

By the way I've never played WiF. I learned of the existence of the game a year or so ago. I played AH 3rd Reich years ago and have played the computer version of it. At the moment I'm involved in several CEaW PBEM games.

Note to myself : need to read more than just the monthly summary by the developper [:D]

10% against the AI to learn the game.

90% multiplayers but i think netplay and PBEM must be two tools of the same game aka multiplayer.  Will write a word about that on the other threat.

"90% multiplayers" does not help for the survey.
Can you be more specific or do you prefer that your vote don't fit the survey ?

I have bumped this thread since there has been some dicussion on this topic recently.

There were more posts responding to the survey, so the numbers shown here are not the final ones. I wasn't able to find the full results on my disk (after looking for about 5 minutes). If I come across it later, I'll post the final results to this thread. Note that the numbers shown here did not change all that much when the final respondents are included.

In honor of Yoshino being the 100th respondent, here is an updated summary. Note that the bar chart show the counts, but since there are 100 respondents, it also shows the percentage.[:)]

Thank you Steve for for being on the stick about the posts, interesting statistics speak for themselves and these are from what I believe to be from only WIF board game players I wonder what the stats would say if we surveyed the war gaming computer world that might be interested in buying what many have called the finest war game ever constructed. Again, please not taking sides "just the facts maam just the facts" I personally do not like PBEM [tried it once for two weeks,] I know not a very long trial and I should give it more of a chance and will do so when MWIF is released.

After looking at the thread I have not answer so I add mine.

AI 25%
net play 55%
PBEM 15 %
Head to head 4%
solitaire 1%

Interesting that but interpretation may vary.

Best regards

Solitaire: nil (I got better things to do)
Hotseat: (I'd rather watch paint dry)
AI Opponent: (SC2, my mod, my multi strategy reactive AI which is way excellent so CWIF 0%)
NetPlay: 50%
PBEM: 50%

I want to play real people. A solid AI for CWIF would be impossible to do with current technology. Its only good for learning the game.
