I just opened this up to count how many fort units I killed and I found all this. I never lost this many support units as Axis. I found it kinda weird.

Perhaps he had those assigned to the Forts.  Bad idea if so.

But this happens to the Soviet player with regularity in '41; SUs are destroyed during regular combat.

12/25/41 - Finished a few turns of blizzard and things are progressing in the main 3 offensive areas. Things are a bit tougher then I recall when I was Axis and there are many hard knots of Axis resistance.

Southern front - His whole front was shattered as this was my 2nd strongest push. I have 3 main directions of attack and his forts are totally gone. I chose to attack where his mountain units were not present and really piled it on any Rumanian and Hungarian units in the way. He has several panzer divisions operating in the area broken down but they are pretty much spent at this point.

If he does not pull off the Dnepr soon near the crimea a total disaster could be in the making.

Southwest - This is where his German mountain units are and some very strong defensive positions. The plan here is to wear down the flanks of those positions and get him to fall back. 2 main thrusts with a very strong reserve army ready to be released in January as my front line forces wear down.

Game over. You need to find a more experienced Axis opponent.

He has shown that he knows the mechanics of the game especially in the fall of 41. This is my first Soviet game where my Axis opponent has stuck around to the blizzard after some dozen attempts. Maybe my game against Carnage will have a more entertaining AAR but with this AAR maybe some Axis players will learn a few things.

I must give DAK credit he is a trooper and has rung my bell when I get overconfident and sloppy.

Leningrad front - progress here has been erratic and slow. After 3 turns of attacking and a lot of holds he was finally pushed out of the hex near Novgorod and half of his strong forts. The goal of getting to the Luga will most likely be met but at a heavy cost.

Moscow - another bloody front but steady progress made. Both goals should be met.

Losses - He is approaching 1 million. Goal by end of Blizzard is to get him to 1.5-1.7 million.
