As much as I would like to see feature list or something colse to it even today, I think that we all should agree that Erick may have right now FAR more important matters to attend to. In my opinion hurricane is more than reason to have change in plans even without saying us about it. So I would not count on any cookies in following days ;)

Seen the pics on the news, it looks very bad out there [:(]

Good to hear Erik and Matrix made it through unharmed though. Best of luck to anyone affected, hope things get back to normal for you soon!

You know writing a few lines is not a big thing or hard.Paradox manage weekly dev diaries about upcoming games 6 months in advance be we seem to have to wait untill the game is more or less finished killing any debate about possible features and flawed design untill we get any news.It is not good community building.

I can very well understand not wanting to reveal non-finalized features. You hint on what you want to achieve, and all hell breaks loose if you scrap it due to it not working well in the game.

To be fair, it seems a little silly to compare two companies unless you know their staffing levels and project loads to be similar. I don't know the size of a typical project team for Paradox, but if their teams are larger it makes sense that any or all of their developers might have more time to manage a developer blog and engage in design debates/critiques.

Point taken ASHBERY76. Features list (or predicted features list) could be given to community much, much earlier. Also I agree that something like weekly diary would be great (generally some regullar communication devs-community would be great) Howewer personally I still understand (not perfect word, but I lack any better - I may not understand their situation really because I never lived through any kind of natural dissaster, and I would like to keep it that way) their situation, and I am more than willing to wait far longer.

Yep, better off to say nothing until you are sure its going to work.

Too many times I've seen fans go completely rabid because something that was mentioned as a possibility had to be cut in the end.

They release a preliminary feature list to this little community, and a couple hours later it's plastered on the front page of Blue's News and everywhere else as promised features. Unless you're sure you can pull them all off and that they'll be fun additions to the game, that's a bad idea.

With all due respect the game has next to no media coverage whatsover on any major websites. Most small games developers and publishers have no issues talking about design way in advance because most adults do not react that way you suggest.

Yeah right..... [8|]

For a good current example of adults behaving as 2 year olds, read what's being posted about Disney buying out Lucas Films, LTD. Real adult reactions there.

Sorry, but I've experienced too much of the Internet to believe that adults won't throw a tantrum when they don't get what they think they should have, it happens far too often.

Gaming press releases which give people information but don't tie you to any specifics are pretty easy to write - see every game press release ever.

I really do not want to hunt for it: are they really being rude to Lucas or Disney or both?

But child like online crusades are not really a detriment to profit.
Anti EA, or anti Call of Duty or anti whatever in the games community doesn't seem to stop any of them making huge amounts of money. Little uproars happen all the time but when you are dealing with tons of faceless and a broad age range it's expected and can barely be considered something to be concerned about.
Let the unreasonable and vocal people clouded by emotion rant on forums if they don't get what they want, I don't see how that is reasonable grounds to deprive everyone of something quite simple that can be easily appended with a caveat.

Yeah, funny how the truth is well...funny. [;)]

The way some of them are acting is like someone finally pushed the big red button and the world is coming to an end. [8|]
