I get the sync bug a lot too, once a week or so - we're on the last "official" release. My guess is that everyone gets it but they just don't notice. I only notice because my opponent sends the combat.txt when I'm at work then I watch the replay when I get home. Most of the time it is very minor things but there are still differences, and then occasionally you get some biggies.

I agree....sadly

Apparently Jocke said we're getting it more than we thought originally. I'm now sending the reports too after my initial trepidation. I wonder if it has to do with the computer running the game, th amount of RAM, stuff like that? Maybe too much other stuff going on while the replay is generated? Those are the only things I can think of. I usually try to have nothing else running on my crazy beat-up game computer. It can barely run the game anyway! [:D]

Looks like I'll need to talk with you more about your opponent Nic. He and I are going to try RA when the next version comes out. [X(]

He's a great opponent. A really strong one Micheal.

A short update... we're now in Jan 18, 1943 and the Allies just got their first great submarine victory... the japs tried to navally annihilate Cocos Island (just like they did against horn Island...)... well... my USN subs put 4 fishes in two enemy BBs... finishing them both and forcing the enemy to cancel that operation!

Unfortunately China is fallin. Our HR said that the strat bombing could start on 1.1.1943... and the japs, in two weeks, destroyed every single industry in China.. we're doomed :-( Too bad because we had managed to stall him everywhere

We agreed on July 1st '43 for strategic bombing. Hopefully by then, I can have something in China to off set this.

been a while since I last posted....

Well, things have gone terribly for the allies.
I launched a land offensive in central Burma in Jan 1943.
Send a combined expedition of 300,000 men (Indian, AUS, US and Brit troops).
200,000 of them were surrounded and defeated at the gates of Shweebo.
100,000, in horrible shape, were pushed back towards Kalemyo, ending the campaign...ouch

We've then launched an amphib assault against Ceylon, defended by the 18th Division and by a huge fortress at Dambullah (8 forts, plenty of AA guns, and a stiff division inside).
The air battle lasted 2 weeks, costing me 300 planes before I could control the skies over Ceylon.
Then we conquered all the bases except Dambullah...which is now sieged for months but far from being defeated.

In the PAcific we've landed at Suva and, after a long campaign lasted more than 50 days of fightings, we've pushed back to Nadi the Japanese garrisons.

Then we had launched an operation against Nauru Island and Ocean Is.
The two carrier fleets have engaged each other.
The allied CVs perfomed badly, damaging severly only 1 enemy CV (with 3 more lightly damaged) but not sinking a single enemy ship.
We suffered in return the loss of 2 CVEs, 1 CVL, with 3 more CVs severly damaged and 4 CVEs in sinking conditions....

We're now getting ready to move towards PM....and it's august 1943...very very late.

Mr.Kane is really outplaying me[&o]

I've learnt a couple of things from my game with QBall.
One of these is that you don't need to pull a "Greyjoy" everytime[:D] in order to get the upper hand. Tactical Feints can be just as effective as strategic ones and you get the "bonus" of having all your eggs togheder. The allies have this great advantage: after 1943 they have both quality and quantity edge!

I'm late, true, but my plan is simple: advance and crush them.

I'm certainly not advising you to take 10-12 divisions to Hokkaido!!! [:D][X(]

The bold says it all, exactly. As Allies you have the amount of stuff that you can advance in several place at once, throw feints, and maybe find an off balance opponent after a few months. Jab, jab, jab ... right hook. [:o]

I forgot to say something about China:

we managed, so far, to maintain the perimeter we've estabilished by mid 1942 (see last map of China posted)
The japs have tried to force my defences several times, attacking on the rough terrain NE of Chikkiang and SW of Kweyang, but without success. The strat bombing campaign have completely wiped out by Feb 1943 the Chinese HI and LI industry: The Ledo air bridge has been shut by hundreds of Helens long ago and, after the loss of more than 300 transport planes, I decided to halt it all the same.
China has been alone since then... without supplies (all units are at ZERO supplies!!) they have been fighting like lions!
The Japanese heavy artillery inflicts more than 1500 casualities every day...[X(]...but, rotating units in and out, we've managed to hold the line...till now... but that's not something I can do forever. Sooner or later he will crush me
At Chikkiang he's suffering heavy losses...but he's slowly grinding down my defences...
North of Sian, we're keeping the road from the north to the south open... but there I've really finished any fresh corp... every single corp has been annihilated by his heavy artillery...
But one thing is sure: with stacking limits China CAN be defended, even against a determined Japanese opponent

October 1943

The allies, after the last carriers clash near Nauru Island, managed to assemble another CV fleet. We have 5 Fleet CVs, 3 CVLs and a plethora of CVEs. The Yorktown II managed to reach the west coast, even if badly damaged (will need 3 months of repairs), while the Saratoga is almost ready to go.
We managed to finally conquer Nauru Island (when the japs retreated to Truk to lick their wounds. The Allies then landed a full corp (1 reinforced division) against a garrison of 10,000 men with 5 forts...but without any heavy equipment and badly distrupted by the constant bombings. We easily took the place. Then, a para drop operation against Kusiae Island, which was ungarrisoned ([X(]). 1 USMC Para Bn and 2 USMC raider regiments are now holding the island, along with 2 engineer units. Catalinas are already flying from there, giving us eyes over Truk!
The allies fleet is now at Tabiutea, ready to move forward. The Jap Combined Fleet is at Truk... the Titans are already eager to clash!
The strategy is to advance towards Ponape and then Truk!

Two more vectors are almost ready:
1) We conquered Lungaville (after Suva) and we're now ready to advance with Australian and NZ forces towards the Solomons (which are lightly guarded) Wanna push and make pressure on Rabaul.

2) At Sydney we're assembling 2 invasion corps. The idea is to land at Milne Bay and Tagula island and move towards New Britain bypassing PM and Horn Island, thus forcing Rabaul to face two different and strong vectors.

In Burma i'm trying to assemble a new army for December and a HUGE Air force in order to breakthrough the plains. This time i'll move on the coast Akyab->Ramree Is-> Pegu...let's see if I can manage to estabilish the air supremacy over Burma in 1944

Me and Mr.Kane have adopted the new Symon's air files... pretty curious to see how they work out!

Second Half of November 1943

The Allied CVs (minus the Saratoga refitting at PH and the Yorktown II repairing at SF) and 6 CVEs are keeping busy the Combined Fleet at Kusiae Island. We conquered the Island with paras in late september and, since then, we've being fighting around it, both in the air and on the waves.
The Japs are trying to create a blockade, but the allies managed to unload there nearly 28,000 men and the AF has already been built up to 2, port 1 and 3 forts. CD guns and AA in place. No way he can counterinvade...
The Japs have also reinforced Ponape and all the bases around Rabaul and on the NG coast.

So the allied fleet is in the pacific, with all its carriers... The Saratoga is now repaired and is already moving to Nanoumea along with 2 more CVLs and 2 CVEs, bringing our carrier power up to 6 CVs, 4 CVLs and 10 CVEs....ready to face the KB once again.

....and while the Allied CV Fleet keeps pinned the Whole Combined Fleet in front of Kusiae Island....

A combined force of US and AUS Army and Navy lands in the Southern DEI. 12 BBs, 6 Modern Cruisers and 50 DDs, along with 500 transport ships.

AKEs, AGPs, ADs, ARs, ARDs and every kind of support ship is present.

600 fighters are ready to be transfered from port Hedland. 400 bombers of various types too.

3 Full reinforced Divisions invaded Koepang, while several Brigades conquer Roti and some nearby bases.

Everything went smooth. Not a single japanese Aircraft has spotted our invasion fleet. Not a single one!!!![:'(]

I've never reconned the invaded area. Just intelligence report[8D]

Only the 5th Jap ID is defending the Whole Timor!!!!

Now Mr.Kane has to decide what to do. If he sends the KB and co. back to the DEI, i'm ready to invade Ponape, Eniwetok and Roi-Namur,supported by all my CV/CVEs with 5 Divisions. If he remains in the Pacific.

If he remains in CENTPAC, i'll be able to advance fast in the DEI and start a strat camapaign against his oilfields

They seem to work just fine, even if we didn't have any real furball since.
We abolished every HR regarding altitudes.

The only battle was fought over Kusiae, when 54 Hellcats at 100% CAP (range 0) at 32700 feet, fought against a sweep of 45 N1K2s arriving at 30,000. We traded 10 planes on each side and the Hellcats, despite 30 mhp slower, did pretty well a those altitudes.

So far everything seems smooth

Timor is basically empty.

As i've learnt the hard way playing Japan, the Japs simply can't be strong everywhere.
They have 300k men in Burma? 200,000 in the Pacific? Fine, they must be short of men, engineers and air HQs somewhere else. The allied player just needs to find that weak spot

Did you warp into the future or is that a typo?! [;)]

Assuming this is 43 your landing should throw a wrench in his defenses. Interesting to see the other side of it, eh? You definitely know this territory well right now. Which way do you hope to go here, to Java or the PI?

ehheeh, it's just a typo obviously. We're in nov 1943 [:D]

The idea is to push North, towards Makassar and Borneo, cutting out all his defences in the central front.

Mr.Kane has strongly defended the area between Ambon, Kei-Enlanden, Horn Island, Long Island, Rabaul with several INF units, Air HQs and lots of interconnected bases, while the central DEI seems to be almost empty. At the same time, once the KB Leaves the pacific, i'll push in CENTPAC, cutting out the Whole Solomons and moving straight towards Truk

Nov 30-Dec 1, 1943

The landings at Koepang and Roti went smoothly.
The V Amphib Corp invested the regiment defending Koepang, conquering easily the key base.
At the same time, on the 30th nov, 10 BBs bombed at night Dili and Lautem, closing temporarly the two fields, already crowded with attack planes (Kates, Georges, Mavis etc).
On Nov 30, day, not less than 5 attacks were made against my ships at Koepang by more than 120 unescorted Betties, apparently from Saumlaki.
We had 21 Corsairs and 21 Hellcats on LRCAP from the nearby CVEs.
We downed 70 Betties, but the last two runs were moderately succesfull, placing a total of 7 torps on some already empty transports. Not a bid deal.

Landings continued on dec 1st and, as soon as the bases were conquered, we immediately sent the precious APA/AKAs back to Oz.

Broome fell the same day, thanks to a NZ expeditionary force. Derby is in sight now.

On the night of dec, while our BBs destroyed 70 more planes on the ground at Dili and Lautem, 4 CLs and 8 enemy DDs arried at Sawoe-eilanden (another base conquered by my brave men, sinking 25 transports and 4 DMSs. Luckly these ships were already empty and about to move back.
No air attacks during the day of Dec 1.
From port Hedland a force of 200 fighters (P-47s, Spit V and VIIIs, Kittihawks) arrived at Koepang, while the APA/AKAs are already out of the area.
SDBs and torpedo bombers are re-based at Koepang too.

The KB disappeared from Kusiae Island area... it might be coming back to the DEI... good!

A total of 300k supplies are in place in the 3 conquered bases (Koepang, Roti and Sawoe), with enough heavy flak to be able to down the whole IJAAF[:D]. CD guns are in place and mines are arriving too.

You're sitting pretty there for sure. I bet you could grab a few dot bases to the NW with either paras or raider battalions before the real battles start. The more you already have the better and you can even fly in the engineers and air support.

Any thoughts about exploiting something in the North Pacific while he's scrambling South?
