Opening Note

Well, El Lobo couldn't help me with screen shots. I have Windows Vista Business software and need like Windows 7 or 8 or more, I guess. I can't switch to a different Windows right now as my business requires the Vista Business for some of my other software programs to work with 3rd party systems. I will keep hammering away at this to try to figure out how I can do screen shots with what I have.

You should be able to use the "Prt Scr" button to copy the screen to your clipboard, then just open Windows Paint and paste it in there. When you have finished working on it in Paint, just "Save as" a JPEG file.
Next go to the forum and open a post window. at the bottom where it says "Embed Picture in Post", check the box ... then click on the text "Click here to upload". Click on the "Browse" option and navigate to where you stored the JPEG on your computer. When you find the file click "Open" and then "OK" on the next screenie. It should say "File uploaded successfully". When you make the post the JPEG image should be at the bottom.

BBfanboy-

When I save a screenshot from Paint, it goes really small. But, I'll do a test post and see if it comes out full size on my AAR.

Thank you for your help.

Stand by as I want to bombard the Marianas Islands in the next day or two.

BBFanboy-

I took a screenshot of China. Pasted it to Paint. Saved it as a jpg (it was tiny). Tried to upload it for an AAR post and it said the file was too big. I can't change the size of the jpg. and if I did, I wouldn't be able to see it. *chuckling*

Back to the drawing board.

Try contacting witpqs by PM about "Greenshot" (a screen capture program that does not shrink the image} and "Paint.NET", a picture editor that lets you add overlays of arrows, comments, etc. I am pretty sure they will run on Vista. I got them and looked at them but I am not writing an AAR so I have not used them.

BBfanboy-

I have downloaded Greenshot. I will do a test AAR "Screenshot" of China in a few minutes.

I think El Lobo tried to download Paint.Net, but couldn't due to Business Vista Windows. But, I will try to download it again and make sure whether it won't download.

As Always, thank you for your help.

Strange, I have always relied on Paint for screen shots and only had problems long ago on an AAR I did for Battles from the Bulge until the administrators increased the limit for me.

I'm pretty sure that increase has been implemented across the board on all forums and I have not had a problem since.

Best Regards,

-Terry

Strange, I have always relied on Paint for screen shots and only had problems long ago on an AAR I did for Battles from the Bulge until the administrators increased the limit for me.

I'm pretty sure that increase has been implemented across the board on all forums and I have not had a problem since.

Hans-

I'm not good with technical aspects regarding computers and software. I no doubt have something messed up or mess up something.

I downloaded Greenshot and it took a good screenshot of Paint.

However, I can't (at least not yet) take a Greenshot of WITPAE as the Greenshot icon to print screen is hidden by the WITPAE Screen. *laughing*

I have a friend that fixes computers, software, etc. that I use for my small law practice. I will have him come over and sort screenshots of WITPAE for me. He will probably fix it in like ten minutes or sooner.

Best Regards,

-Terry

From what I recall of the program, the button for Greenshot does not take the screen print, it just Enables the program to take over the normal Prt Scrn function. I think the Prt Scrn still captures the image but into Greenshot's folder (which IIRC can hold multiple screenshots.

BBfanboy-

Greenshot has an icon on my toolbar that takes a screenshot (I just click on it). But, problem is, the Greenshot icon is hidden by the WITPAE Screen.

After receiving your post, I checked the configuration and the default for Greenshot is set. still, the same problem though, I paste to Paint, then save, and it saves it tiny, but I'm advised file is too big when I try to post the Screenshot in this AAR.

Back to the drawing Board, take 215. *laughing*

Thank you for trying to help me on this matter.

I don't use (Microsoft) Paint. I use Paint.net, which is much more powerful and very easy to use (and free).

http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

Be wary - the ad services have made the site a mine field of lookalike download buttons/links to try and get you to download other software.

This is the actual link for the download:
http://www.dotpdn.com/files/paint.net.4.0.6.install.zip

Inside the .zip file is the .exe that will install the software.

BTW, due to so many good free software programs often being bundled with crapware, the site ninite.com (https://ninite.com/) has sprung up and provides installers that automatically opt-out of all the crapware. Have a look at them. You can (if you like) get Paint.net, Greenshot, and other things there.
