Air to Air Combat (cont):

Cloud cover is low and a large number of Japanese fighters fail to find the enemy and return to base without ever making contact. However the second unit is able to locate the enemy bombers. The inexperienced Chinese flyers are completely surprised and set upon in what develops into a turkey shoot.

Round 1
Allies - 7 (DA) The front fighter is aborted.
Axis - 18 (AX PX) The Bomber is destroyed and the pilot killed

Land Combat:
Japan

There are three attacks by the Axis - only one of which is by the Japanese. The attack on Ichang is automatic and the Chinese cavalry is destroyed. The news filters through to Washington but the American Congress, distracted by the news from Holland, barely seem to notice the fall of another Chinese city. One Japanese Army and the cavalry corps occupy the city.

Germany

The focus moves to the Dutch capital and the attack on Amsterdam which moves to 7:1 no modifiers (Assault) thanks to the intervention of the Heinkels and their softening up of the enemy. With the plan for Fortress Holland in tatters, Winkelmann's 1st Corps put up only a token resistance before crumbling (Fractional odds fail but the throw is a 7).

And so to the final attack. With the bulk of the Dutch Army concentrating on the defence of the capital, the few rear-guard and militia units in Holland's second city can do little against the massed armour that assails it from the east. This simply makes the landings by the SS infantry a veritable walk in the park. More German soldiers are drowned in accidents than are killed by enemy gunfire (No fractional odds and an 8 is thrown).

Naval Overrun Digression:
Germany

The German attack on Rotterdam from the east was so well sign posted that the Dutch navy were able to put to sea with their entire navy and merchant navy except a few merchant ships that were unable to sail due to a lack of fuel on board (throws of 6,7,7,8,6,1).

I take it the Germans do not seek to intercept?

Edit: Okay I cannot see AllenK around so will take an executive Axis decision and say he would not want to try and intercept [:D]

Three light cruisers and many merchant vessels (3 points worth) sail up the channel to Plymouth.

Just a friendly reminder.

We play with a house rule that USSR and Japan signed a pact in 1939. (Basically playing the normal rules but without markers, so based upon Garrison ratios)

No attack in '39
4:1 in '40
2:1 in '41
1:1 in '42
and so on

Currently no one can declare war since the pact was signed this year. Next turn is the first that garrison ratios take effect.

The current garrison values is 1 for USSR and 0 for Japan. Not a heavily garrisoned border. Although that means that USSR may DOW next turn, if they should so desire.

USSR declares war on Persia. US entry roll was 4, one chit was removed.

Does Persia align with Japan or Germany?

If unit is placed anywhere else than capital, please let me know.

I am wondering if one of the Axis players can decide which major power to align Persia (Germany or Japan)? And where the Persian cavalry will be placed?

I do understand that there might be time constraints that prevent gaming from taking place. But I thought that this was a fairly simple decision to make. Although I might be wrong about that. [:)]

Align with Japan and CAV to capital is how I solve this if there is no answer [:)]

To move this game on, I'm happy with Persia aligned to Japan and CAV to capital.

CW sends 5 factor Spitfire to box 1.

Does Germany want to send any additional planes? I get to computer after a while to tell what planes are available.

Only German Bf110 reaches box 1. Do you want to send it to combat?
