Strategic Bombing in India doesn't earn Japan points (unless I've misunderstood the rule, which is certainly possible). As far as I know, only Strat Bombing in Australia and USA counts.

OK then. Australia will have issues sometime soon.

Sean and I got FOUR turns in today. That is solidly good work.

Subj: Armament and Vehicles

Admiral,

Why NO surplus of Armament and Vehicles?? When looking at your screenshot of your Naval Shipyard Building, BOTH don't show any surplus. What are you producing for both??

I don't know why that screenshot didn't show everything but here is the current one:

August 1, 1942

After nearly six weeks of inactivity, the majority of the Combined Fleet begins preparations for departure. Every Carrier--with the exceptions of the 1942 build (Junyo, Nisshin, and Hiyo) to this point--have just had their AA and other areas augmented. The biggest and most time-consuming part of the upgrades are the replacement heavy AA guns. The older, slower to train and fire batteries are replaced by the faster, new 3.9" AA guns. Their volume of fire as well as much more modern fire control looks incredibly promising.

The 31st sees four Fleet Carriers depart Singapore heading for Soerabaja. At this base, they will join-up with Junyo/Hiyo and 3 CVLs. Nearly 30 escort ships will accompany this set of carriers as they head for Truk. The 1st sees the departure of nearly 30 warships from Yokohoma. Destination: Truk. CVs Akagi and Amagi still need another 7-9 days at Singers to be completed. The new Kaimon will be available for deployment in two days. As these carriers complete their work, they shall head for Truk and then--probably--Tabitueau.

The initial concentration shall consist of 4 large CV, 2 medium CVs, and 4 CVLs as well as 50 Escorts. This should be achieved by August 8th.

The remaining units should arrive no later then August 15th.

It is at that point, the Imperial Japanese Navy will go LOOKING for trouble. If it finds the Allied Fleet, then VICTORY is the only possible result.

SoPac

Sean has shown a marked tenancy to raid with smaller STF. Now that things have stabilized a little, I am taking a page from that and send out a CL and 5 DD from Canton. They immediately score and sink two TFs for 8 AKL carrying over 1,000 troops:

While the war rages on, the economic picture isn't so rosey. John's Economic Minister sees lots of things need to be addressed. Besides the screens hot info below, there are Engine and Airframe issues to be addressed. Somebody really needs to take time to get Tracker up and running. [;)]

Had an extensive conversation with Economics Minister Benoit today and am working on getting some stuff straight with my economy. Have sat on my turn all day today due to the work. Will detail when I have a chance.

India

As my enemy redeploys his forces west to Bezwada for my 'move', a very welcome pause fills the skies and arena in Eastern India. Japanese Fighters are allowed to rest and replace a crap ton of airframes. The new Tojo is deployed as fast as it is produced.

After nearly 10 days of no major aerial activity, the enemy moves his fighters up to Jamshedphur and attempts to protect a unit desperately trying to withdraw into Allied lines. Seeing the fighters move forward, Calcutta Fighter Command shifts its position. Two Bomber Sentai are allowed to fly at this inviting target. They are accompanied by over 40 rested Fighters. Zeros fly at 15,000 Ft and Tojos at 20,000 Ft. They encounter 28 enemy fighters of various makes. The fight is pretty one-sided.

SEVENTEEN Allied Fighters fall in exchange for ZERO Japanese. NICE!

The bombers easily pass through and drop their bombs causing 154 Cas.

Piece of cake this day...

Well...I LOVED August 4th but then it flips on August 5th. I lose 25 ZERO for about 10-12 Allied Fighters over Warazup. The worm always turns...

Tahiti

The Japanese SS Arm has had, by my standards, a so-so war. The waters around Tahiti have, surprisingly, been about the most profitable for the subs.

August 4th
I-2 SINKS TK Hilda Knudsen with 3 Sh and 3 TT 40 miles west of Tahiti
DAMAGES TK L.P. St. Clair with a TT in the same hex

August 5th
I-26 SINKS TK L.P. St. Clair with 3 Sh and 1 TT at Takiti
SINKS TK Gulfcoast with 4 Sh and 5 TT in the same hex.

Those are three 20+ VP TK. It helps a bit.

Nice work!

Almost as good of work putting two TT into Lexington over in Dan's new game...
