RE: Chinese Farm 1: "A Most Terrible Night" Narrative AAR
Turn 36 Cont...Southern Command and Sharon had placed Erez in a bad tactical position. He had too many missions and not enough assets. HE had to secure the 14th's Bde rear as they moved north and east. He had to support their attack as he now had with 15 tanks moving to Amir. He also had to let Nir know what was in the area. Erez ordered a company to move forward.......

RE: Chinese Farm 1: "A Most Terrible Night" Narrative AAR
Israeli Turn 37...The repeated crack of tank cannon fire coming from the west side of the canal told Sharon more than any radio report.
The senior officer of the tank company waited for the star shells he requested. His When the shell burst right over the enemy, he ordered 5 tanks north along the Sweet Water Canal to expand the bridgehead. They ran into an enemy AT gun platoon. The ensuing firefight cause the enemy to retreat up the road, leaving behind three destroyed guns.
His own 3 tanks open fire on the AT gun platoon and infantry that were firing at the crossing points. He watched as the AT guns were forced back beyond the flares light, but he knew there were enemy tanks in and around Devesoir.
Sharon watched as the Alligators returned from the opposite bank. They were the only equipment he had to get his heavy units across, but he also needed to get more infantry across, and fast. Too many rafts were damaged by enemy artillery to be useful, (Never could figure out HOW to get them in the water. Message always said "Unit can move through existing terrain")
Col Gurl, the commander of Southern Commands Engineers, was standing next to Sharon....
"Gurl, what can we use to get more infantry across?"
"We can use the Nagmash (M113) but they are defenseless in the water."
"Use them." ordered Sharon.

Turn 37 cont...
The lead elements from Erez's Bde that were sent up Usha Road, make contact with Reshef's tanks.
The Egyptian forces north and east of Amir are pushed back.
The fight for the bridge rages on as Reshef's tanks continue to reduce the enemy infantry blocking their advance.

Rafts need to have the infantry loaded before they can move IIRC. It's been a while, if you have a save-file please email to me and I will have a look. My email is: crossroads dot cslegion at gmail dot com.
By design, there's just one shallow water hex both sides the canal, near Deversoir. IIRC you have Crewed Boats as well, they can only be unloaded there, then loaded with infantry, then move to the other side.

They were loaded (yes, learned the hard way....lol)
If there is only one spot, it's gotta be shown.....somewhere...
Anyway...a great scenario. Points wise, I won the game turns ago. But that was not objective. I wanted to see how close it played to history.... I know the Israeli deployment is FUBAR'd but the result was the same....the AI doesn't quit

Israeli Turn 39.... Southern Command Forward Hq's, Tasa....
The intelligence officer came through the door to the large bunker with a piece of plastic in his hands. The previous hour or so within this particular bunker was nothing less than nerve wracking. Sharon had reported that he had "Feet in Africa" but any other update had not come forth. The senior staff of the IDF listened to the various command nets of Col's Reshef, Ezer, and Nir, but they were fighting their fights at a tactical level. They needed to know the operational level details, and none had come forward until the graphics were posted on the wall.
"Gentlemen, please sit" said the Intel Col. The only people present were Elaza, Bar-Lev, Gonen, and Dayan. The room was cleared of the various operations staff as soon as the Col came rushing through the door. The discussion and decisions to be made based on this mans briefing were for them and them only..
The intel officer posted the graphics and began.."What you see here is about 1hr old. My staff put this together based on monitoring the radio nets of the forces engaged down to battalion level, and some company level transmissions to confirm some especially important data. We have very high confidence that this is the what the battlefield situation is.
"First and most important to you, we are in Africa. General Sharon has at least a company of tanks and infantry on the west bank. They did take loses during the initial crossing, but have established a 2km long by 1km deep bridgehead. Besides the loses, the resistance to the crossing has been weak. This, we believe, is due to Col Reshef's assault upon the Egyptian bridge at the end of Usha Road. The Egyptian's believe this is the main axis and have moved their available forces there instead of the crossing sites."
Bar-Lev...."Col, we appreciate your detail, but my question is simple...will those forces hold long enough so others may join them?"
Intel Col..." Yes, they will"
Bar-Lev...."Why do you say so?"
Intel Col..."Because 90% of the Egyptian artillery has been directed at Reshef's forces. Virtually none at the forces already across the canal. Local ground forces have moved against ours in the bridgehead."
Elazar got up and walked over to the map....

Intel Col..."By the time we get the next update, I expect the infantry forces on the west bank to double. Yes, there is much confusion at the crossing sites, but no matter, more combat forces will cross."
"Col Reshef's forces have drawn the attention of the Egyptian's. They are close to achieving a breakthrough at the Egyptian crossing. The enemy continues to reinforce that sector.

Turn 39 cont....Bar-Lev also walked over to the map. "Col Nir's Bde has done well to open Tirtur. What is the status of the Roller?" ask Bar-Lev.
Intel Col...."Sir, it broke in half about 2hrs ago. They'll have it repaired in about an hour, but its at least 6hrs away from reaching Matzmed."
Gonen..."Erez'z unit was supposed to be Sharon's first to cross, yes?" "Yes Sir. That is a company of his tanks on the west bank." came the reply
"When do we disengage him so he can get his people to the crossing site?" asked Gonen.
"When we no longer get reports of enemy tanks roaming the rear. A lone enemy tank appeared out of nowhere on Lexicon, 500 meters from 2 Bn Hq's. Reshef and a bunch of his commanders attacked the tank and destroyed it, but it showed how weak we are in the rear." said Elazar.
Intel Col..."The signals we have heard on Erez's command net indicate he is in the process of moving them now. He's plans on relieving one position at a time as he heads towards Matzmed."
