As someone who very unexpectedly became the single parent of a little boy(also now 8), I empathize with your situation. The only reason I have had time to game lately is that I lost my "situation", er, job. He needs you, and you have to do what is necessary for him.
From experience, however, I will tell you that after the initial shock has worn off, it is important to find at least a little time for yourself, or you will become an unhappy person. This will degrade your ability to be at your best for him, and will decrease the quality of life for you both. After some time, you will become better at managing your schedule. You can be happy too.

Markiss, Hopefully your work situation will improve and you will decide to come back and play. I have lost almost all of my games. Only won against Bolko due to his life change. I have yet to master the NE on either side that seems to be my downfall. I am going to MASTER the NE and start winning (I hope.)

Incidentally I surrendered in July 1940. Ktonos tried a very unusual tactic, which I countered very poorly. This left the Axis in dire straights early on. I chose to start over rather than playing out what I believed to be a losing hand. Ktonos can share his strategy if he wants. After action reports are great but I believe winning strategies should be shared by the winner, if they want.
