Hi,

1 Drop a Paratroop Army onto USA from 100,000 Zepplins.
2 Walk backwards from China to India telling the Allies you are retreating
3. Sue for peace on Dec 7 1941 but refuse to sign the paper before March 1946
4. Hide
5. Build nothing but mines and mine the entire Pacific Ocean from PH to Tokyo.
6. Sink Saipan Tinian and Guam.
7. Drop beer on the Aussies, the Brits and the Dutch and get them to see things your way.
8. Convince the Soviets that the USA is planning to invade them.
9. Invest in American factories. You'll lose the war but have a lot of money afterwards.
10. Send out 10,000 turn 1 in PBEM and then never answer the return emails. All games will be forever stuck with Japan at her peak.
This are definitly the best advices to asure a Japanese vitory!
I'll print them and hang them on my wall!

Didn't zeta16 post on 9/16/06 that he did play Hirohito in a PBEM game where this strategy was used?  After that post people were still saying he should have tried it out for real, but it looks to me like he did and it wasn't a total failure.

No he played WITP_Dude who tried using his strategy. The game was set up specifically for that task.

Depends what you call a "total failure" - it certainly did not live up to the hyperbolic claims that were made when it was first presented.

EDIT: i haven't read through this entire thing, but iirc, Mssr. Hirohito was claiming (not necessarily in this thread) that there was no way to defend against it, there was no way the IJN was going to lose any carriers (one of the first things disproven, and i think was met with Hirohito's reply that HE wouldn't have lost them, etc.)

Ah .....this old thread.[:)]  There are very slow days on this forum that I almost catch myself wishing Hirohito was still around.

And if he IS around using a different handle....my offer is STILL on the table to play you.

Hi, The thing I find most amazing about any Japanese plan that extends beyond May 1942 is how such planning is even possible before the planner knows what he will have to use.

Before Japan captures Palembang and the other major resource/oil centers planners do not know if
1. The SRA will even be providing oil and resource
2. How much will it provide
3. how much supply will be required to repair the damage.

Capture Palembang and that next door resource center in 100 percent damaged condition and see what happens to your operational plans for mid 1942.
Do people plan such massive operations before they even know what their fuel and supply levels will be?

Just arrived -havent read the whole thread.......
BUT -this is exactly what happened to me against tabpub -and magami has it dead right.
Capture things damaged -and FINITO to further advances
Now, to make another comment -my latest game has Japan doing exactly what is proposed -He tried for a pearl -every island in the pacific MASSIVE grab
So here we are into march -I mucked up and he got the phillipines VERY cheaply -but he still is engaged in Pearl-and the DEI are still mine, and getting stronger every day.
Its very interesting, but I am convinced -any Jap player who thinks he will "just grab the resources a little bit later" is asking for trouble.
There is a player on the forums who plays as allied -and he claims 9 victories in mid 42 -and I believe him.
Grab the resources and oil -THEN plan phase 2
Trust me -WITP is a terrible struggle as Japan when oil never gets above 50000 to 100000 units -ever[:(]

Seems like an interesting idea. Not sure if it would 100% work but it would be a new approach.

The continuing stupid trend to resurrect stupid threads that should have remained consigned forever to the Stupid Thread Graveyard continues to strike me as stupid...

The continuing inconsiderate trend to arbitrarily stick labels on members of this community continues to strike me as rude and arrogant...

So, just to clarify...who do you feel is being stupid here?

a) OP (Hirohito)

b) People that kept resurrecting this thread (O.Heindorf, RUPD3658, haleyjo_68)

c) Everybody who participated in the discussion (list too long...)

d) Anybody who read it and found it interesting and/or entertaining

OR

t) other
