RE: War Report - 3rd of August, 1922
Only action of note today was the fall of the town of Guiuan on the southern tip of Samar.
Other than that, the game will be on hold until after Christmas. See you next week!

RE: War Report - 4th of August, 1922
So much for the Christmas Peace! I'm making a stopover at home before going out again, so I thought I might as well run the turn Bill had dropped in my in-box yesterday.
The Second Battle of Wake Island. This time, the US battle line didn't find defenceless cargo transports and tankers there. The line-up was Nagato, Mutsu, Yamashiro, Fuso, Hyuga and Ise vs. Tennessee, California, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
Unfortunately, the engagement uncovered a glaring flaw in pre-war Imperial munitions procurement, i.e. the blasted inability of our AP shells to penetrate heavy armour at longer ranges. The engagement never closed to inside of 15,000 yards and even though our sharp-eyed gunners achieved several main battery (35cm, 41cm) hits on the enemy battleships, they universally failed to penetrate their thick hides.
As for traffic going the other way, the Americans failed to score even one main battery hit on our battle line. A large number of 5-inch shells impacted on our battleships, but obviously didn't inflict any significant damage.
The heaviest damage on both sides was suffered by the escorts. Three US destroyers (the Dent, Montgomery and Ramsay) were severely punished by very accurate gunfire, and all veered out of formation, burning furiously. On the Imperial side, the light cruiser Chikuma was struck by a lucky American torpedo whilst the destroyer Shimakaze absorbed a number of hits from her opposite numbers on the enemy side.
The entire Imperial battle line, supported by our battlecruiser squadron, remains combat ready.

RE: War Report - 5th of August, 1922
The Second Battle of Wake continued today. Bill seems to have brought EVERY SINGLE SERVICABLE US battleship to the party to face my slightly smaller forces. Through a long series of engagement stretching through both night and day pulses, our battle lines inflicted grave damage upon each other. No battleships were sunk on either side, but the included screenshot shows the ships lost to the Imperial Navy this day.

On the last screenshot I posted, the list of sunk Japanese ships is put together from three different parts on the Sunk Ships List. I've cropped the different parts out of the screenshots from the game and pasted them together. If you're using Photoshop, there should be a Crop function (the GIMP has one).

I can crop them okay in Photoshop but can't work out how to paste them together.

What I did was to create a blank template picture, and then put all the little bits together on it (imagine somebody working at a light table with little bits of photographs).
Then I took the other screenshot image I'd done (the one with the scores on it), cropped it, and then pasted the image I'd made of the bits into it. The result is what you see.

After the excitement of the last couple of days, we've settled back down a low roar. It will hopefully be punctuated by a few positive signals intercepts concerning sinking American ships over the coming turns...[:D]

RE: War Report - 7th of August, 1922
Grmbl... The Imperial battleship Mutsu sank tonight on its way back from Wake. Unfortunately, her pumps were not able to keep up with the progressive flooding caused by the damage from the action of the last two days. On the other side, American destroyer Montgomery also sank.
Lots of points for my esteemed opponent, but we can only hope that some more American ships join the Mutsu and the Montgomery on the ocean floor.

The grind continues. Enemy submarines have appeared at the Pescadores, Takao and Bataan. Our ASW forces have been alerted to engage these pirates. Elsewhere, artillery bombardments of enemy positions in Manilla continue.

RE: War Report - 9th of August, 1922
Whilst Bill is busy with RL duties, I'm posting another turn.
Today, the Imperial Navy repaid the Dutch for their complicity in the attack on Truk several days ago, when a battle squadron bombarded the Dutch port of Tarakan.
Elsewhere, British submarines made their first appearance in this war. The K-16 was engaged at the Pescadores, whilst the L-2 was attacked at Takao. The latter incident resulted in at least 4 hits or close misses, but no sinking could be confirmed.

RE: War Report - 10th of August, 1922
Today, Imperial Intelligence Wireless Intercept picked up an SOS message from the American destroyer Bulmer, reporting that she was sinking approximately 200 miles east of Wake.
Elsewhere, Royal Navy submarine L-16 was engaged in the waters off Bataan, and the artillery bombardment of Manilla continued.
