Turn 17. Allied #4. Contested Sea Areas Where Axis May Try to Initiate Combat.

In four of the sea areas included in the last three posts the axis, as the non-phasing player, may try to initiate combat. The only one of those sea areas in which they may include additional air units is in the Eastern Med.

1. Which of these areas do the axis wish to attempt to initiate combat?

2. Which unit(s) would they like to use for the attempt? (Not necessary for the East Med, Arabian Sea and Coral Sea).

3. Which air units and where would they also like to included? (Only applicable for the East Med.)

Dinner and movie time ... so I'll be out for a while. [:)]

1. E. Med, Arabian Sea, Coral Sea. Leave the Central Atlantic alone.

2. In all three, I believe previous interception attempts mean I don't need to assign more units for the attempt.

3. No body else will join the E. Med yet.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #4. East Med. (Non-Phasing) Axis Initiate Combat. Round 1 (a).

Instructions?
Had to reconsider my first thoughts. In the end, I'll engage only the 0-box in a naval air. I should have 8 surprise points.
Use them to move my A-A columns up 2 and your A-A column down 2.
If my bomber clears, the D will go against the transport.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #4. Naval Air Combat (Round 2). East Med.

For round 2, I make the assumption that you'd want to add the Italian NAV to the battle. Hope that's correct?

Round two sees both side losing contact with the other and the battle ends.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #4. Limited Overseas Supply (Optional Rule).

On a personal note, this is the first game that I've played using the optional rule, "Limited Overseas Supply" and I absolutely love it! When negotiating the optional rules for this game with Pat I was a bit apprehensive about using this rule, especially as the less experienced and allied player. But after playing with it for a while I'll never play another game without it. This rule adds an additional level of realism that emerges me even deeper into the interactive history experience that MWiF provides.

Though the circumstances and route was different, in trying to keep supply to Malta (and Wavell's army in North Africa), Pat and I have been fighting our alternate version of "Operation Pedestal". I managed to put both in supply at the end of the turn, which allowed me to reorganize the significant fleet of 5 heavy cruisers and three sub units based there. Then, during Pat's last impulse, he manage to sink the lone CW CP providing supply to all these forces. And, we just fought a desperate battle over another convoy centered around Dutch transports and covered by a handful of RAF fighters from South Africa.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #4. USSR Land Combat Attacks (Two). Axis Ground Support.

How do you wish to use your ground support? (The Ju 87D can only reach the north attack. The artillery could support either attack).

What attack CRT (assault or Blitz) do you wish to use for each attack?

This is a high risk move for you.

I believe you have no fighters in range. If correct, the Stuka flies to the northern attack and the ART supports the southern attacks. Make both assaults. If you have a fighter in range, I'll fly the fighter as an escort.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #4. USSR, Land Combat, Pre-assault Odds.
ORIGINAL: ashkpa

High risk, yes. In retrospect, I probably should have played an O-chit to double attack factors. But I didn't and these are the final odds that I've got.

To build the drama a bit, I'm going back to watch the Packers and Falcons playoff game and will make the actual rolls, or rather let MWiF make the virtual rolls, at half-time.

This is combat Soviet style.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #4. USSR, Land Combat Resolution.

Poor rolling ... and even rolled the dreaded 14 on the second attack.

I did learn something. The assault attack penalty is also applicable when attacking a clear hex containing an armor or mech unit. I "overlooked" that in my pre-assault calculations.
