Battle for Chittagong
_____________________________________________________________________________

Short update. We continue to battle around here and I´ve managed to land a few jabs including sinking 3 Japanese DDs in a night battle at Chittagong for no own losses. I now have very good night EXP on a CL force that will continue to try to nibble away at Jeffs mini DD TFs.

First deliberate attack was committed last turn. Very good result here and it marks the end of Japanese power in India. I´m pulling out the 1st Marines and 2nd British for the next attack and replacing them with 5th and 6th OZ ID. They will do one attack and then the mop up will be done by restricted Indian forces.

Worth to note here that the Allied AF has been grounded for the last week. With their aid I could possible have gotten that 1:1. Very close.
Ground combat at Chittagong (55,41)

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 74406 troops, 1275 guns, 1233 vehicles, Assault Value = 2427

Defending force 59144 troops, 798 guns, 396 vehicles, Assault Value = 1680

Allied engineers reduce fortifications to 2

Allied adjusted assault: 1669

Japanese adjusted defense: 1699

Allied assault odds: 1 to 2 (fort level 2)

Wonder why he's staying so long there with such low forts. In that terrain it doesn't make sense, really. Better to move back along the Arakan, farther from your air and naval power and better defensive terrain.

Your LCUs must be getting some god exp too, which I know is needed for the Commonwealth ones.

I was kind of wondering why he stayed in Chittagong from the beginning. I think I even asked that in the AAR. Don´t defend in clear hexes. Ever. Especially true as Japan when you are within 4E range.

If I were him I would probably have pulled back to Akyab or even further south. Better terrain, support from his inland bases in central Burma. And much further from the level 9 AF at Calcutta...pretty much what you say. [:)]

Looks like he is pulling out though. Or he is just shifting troops. Guess I will know in 3-4 turns.

Keep posting, Jocke! Having paired AARs is a real treat for readers. There usually aren't very many, especially in which both players post in detail.

Glad to have you posting again. :)

World of tanks? I figured Warships would be more this games cup of tea. I played the hell out of tanks but mostly do ships now.

I did the other way around. Started with Warships but got a bit tired with the tirade of patches constantly wrecking any semblance of balance. Also coming from the FPS world the gameplay was too slow for me. Then I figured I might as well use the Premium I bought so I gave WoT a try since its valid for both WoWs and WoT.

Got hooked pretty much from the get go although I played horrible for the first 3k games. Last 1k games I seem to been doing a bit better. [:)]

I like these games for a few days, or when traveling, but just can't get into them more than that. I'm looking forward to No Man's Sky out this summer! I used to play the crap out of Masters of Orion, and love space domination games, but this is more space exploration. Endlessly generated!!

Looks great! I have missed it, but mostly because I wasn't (and shouldn't be) looking! One major time sucking game is enough right now!!! [:D]

(okay, I will explore what it's all about later. The wife is out of town for one more night!) [;)]

There's a whole set-up for this on Steam. Forums, etc. Right now they're early access, but at $50 USD. For that they throw in MOO 1, 2, and (spit) 3. It's too steep for what you get presently IMO. But I'm watching it. They've simplified some of the MOO2 mechanics, but gotten top-flight voice acting and really good graphics. So I don't know. I still play MOO2 in a DosBox sometimes, but it's a PITA to launch and the graphics are pretty spare.

I didn't realize it was by Wargaming.net. Remake or not, I think that makes me want to not play it.

I had trouble with 3 too. 1 and 2 are such classics. Tried too much with 3 I think.

I know nothing about this. What are you're reservations?
