Reinforcement:  F2/1 Fighter Daitai (Claudes, already changed to Zeros) for Southern Area Army.

We lost an AK at Balikpapan to old damage.  In addition, the AK Mexico Maru hit a mine at Pt. Blair.  It's part of the invasion force.

Bruce's ASW forces sank the KX at Pt. Blair. [:D]  I'm not sure how many of Speedy's subs have been sunk so far, but I'll try to get a count for you at the end of the month.

Our ground forces continued to land at Davao and Pt. Blair.  In addition, forces landed at Rossel Island (dot base in the SE Fleet AO).

La Foa was taken today by an SNLF.  It's the dot base directly north of Noumea.  That SNLF is now headed for Noumea.  Now, all of New Caledonia (except for Noumea) is in Japanese hands.  When I finally take Noumea, the Allies will have no choice but to surrender.  That'll include the 3 NZ Bde and part of the 8 NZ Bde.

Forces available for the invasion of Wyndham:

5 Division
56 Division
4x SNLF
2x NLF
7 Tk Regiment
3 Eng Regiment
28 Eng Regiment
3 Mtr Bn

There's probably other forces on the way too.  These forces are concentrating at Timor.  Bruce is still gathering forces and transports.

Reinforcement:  68 Fighter Sentai (at Harbin for SE Fleet)

More Naval action today:  The Kasumi (from KB) caught and sank the Greenling off Noumea.  That's 2 subs in 2 days. [:D] I'll bet Speedy's furious.  You know how he loves his subs. [:D] The poor AK Mexico Maru found 2 more mines at Pt. Blair and finally sank.  Also, the Rover put a torpedo into the Wakatake, about 180 miles south of Pt. Blair.  I think she was part of baby KB's screen, who's hovering in the area, just in case the RN makes an appearance.  Baby KB has about 153 planes ready to take on the RN.

Bruce continued to land troops at Pt. Blair and Rossel Island was taken today.

Pt. Moresby's port reached level 2 today.

Well, the highlight of the day was the liberation of Pt. Blair. [:D] In a textbook attack, Bruce overcame a fort level of 3 with 7:1 odds.  The Allies never knew what hit them.  Well, maybe they did know what hit them when they saw bunches of ships and thousands of Japanese flooding ashore...... [;)]

Elsewhere in the Pacific, Faber attacked Davao but was unable to secure the base.

The Dutch minelaying sub O19 was reared her ugly head at Pt. Blair harbor, putting a torpedo into an AP and getting away.  I suspect she was planting a minefield there.

The Allied air force woke up today.  Their air force based out of India and Burma made many attacks against shipping at Pt. Blair damaging 4 APs and an AK.  In addition, B-17s flying out of Australia put a 500 lb. bomb into the DD Karukaya (64-22-4) and also bounced a couple more off the Kako (8-0-1).  We really need that invasion of Australia to push the 4E bombers south, further into the Australian interior.

Oh yeah, Noumea.  Thorn in my side.  There just isn't the ground force necessary there to take the place.  I'm stripping ground forces from everywhere in the SE Fleet area that I can afford to send them to Noumea.  Most of the forces (SNLFs and NLFs) should be there in about 8 days.  Until then, I'll continue with artillery bombardment.  There is also a naval bombardment group a few days out to add to the mayhem.  Soon the daitai of Lizs (currently repairing at Pt. Moresby) will move to Luganville to start bombing Noumea.  Those 500 kg bombs should do a bit of damage.  Koumac (the base at the northern tip of New Caledonia) will finish a level 1 airfield soon.  I'll move some fighters there hoping they can provide LRCAP over Noumea.  Does anyone know if fighters can fly LRCAP out of a level 1 airfield?

KB is currently off the west coast of New Caledonia still providing LRCAP support over Noumea.  It's steaming north a few hexes to refuel tomorrow.  Faber suggested a raid to Norfolk Island (between New Caledonia and New Zealand).  He thinks that's where the Catalinas are flying from with the reinforcements each turn.  I'll do that after KB refuels.  It's very frustrating having to keep KB in the SE Fleet area when it can be causing harm elsewhere.  It needs to stay there until the Noumea operation is complete because we believe all 4 of the US CVs are east of there (probably at Fiji).  They were spotted raiding Tarawa (with 133 DBs) and then one of Faber's sub lines caught them heading west toward Fiji.  They haven't been spotted in awhile, but they're probably waiting for KB to leave to raid all that juicy Japanese merchant shipping in the area.  So, KB stays until the operation concludes successfully and the excess combat power is moved to other locations. Quiet day except for the Allied Air Force rearing it's ugly head.  Bob's 2E and 4E bombers flying out of Darwin got lucky and hit a TF sitting in the port of Koepang.  An AK and the DDs Hasu, Tsuga and Kuretake each took a 500 lb bomb.  None of the DDs is in danger of sinking but they'll all need to head back to the repair yard having sys damage of 52, 38 and 45 respectively.

Chris dropped off a small raiding party from a couple of subs in a dot hex 1 hex south of Buna.  My shiny new Liz bombers just finished repairing at Pt. Moresby (2 hexes away).  I'm going to try them out.  4x 500 kg bombs per plane should ring their bell. [:D]  I've diverted an SNLF to wipe them out before heading to Noumea.

Quiet day today.  An AK at Pt. Blair hit a couple of mines and went down.  Also, the Sailfish put a torpedo into an AK south of Foochow and got away.

The usual bombardment of key bases occurred.......

I forgot to mention about the Allied "raiding party" south of Buin.  It's not that at all.  It's the remnants of the Allied Pt. Moresby garrison.  My Liz bombing attack hit the 30 Aust Bde.  Actually, it's the remnants of that bde.  The subs are there trying to get a fragment off.  An SNLF is one day's sail from there.  Also, there's an ASW TF in the hex.  Hopefully, none will get away, but I'm not holding by breath.

Reinforcements:  94 Hvy Bomber Sentai (27 Sallys) for Southern Area, 1 AK.

Another quiet day.  Allied bombers put 2 bombs into an AK at Tavoy.

The 30 Australian Bde died from attrition today.  Not sure if the subs got fragments.  At any rate, when a unit dies from attrition, I don't think it comes back.

Noumea:  My AV is around 500 to the Allied 300.  There are a total of 5 SNLFs, 2 NLFs and 2 NGs headed to Noumea and they will arrive over the next week or so.  The BB Hyuga and 4-5 CLs are sitting there waiting to bombard.  I'm hoping to attack when the ground units all arrive.  In the mean time, the ground forces are bombarding and I'm flying LRCAP from Kouvac.  There was no attempt to transport any forces/supplies this turn.  The LRCAP did shoot down 3 and damaged 6 (of 12) Hudsons that attempted (unsuccessfully) to attack the Hyuga.

Reinforcement:  FF7/Yokosuka Chutai (12 Rufes) for SE Fleet

A few days ago, Suva was mined by one of our minelaying subs.  It paid off.  An Allied TK found one today.

Nanchang fell to the Bob's Great Yellow Horde.  I expected it.  He has 12 Chinese infantry units and 7 Artillery Regiments in it.  Nanchang was defended by a base force and an infantry bde.  They fell back to Shanghai.  There is about 1200 AV there with an additional 1200 AV headed there and expected to arrive over the next few days.  Even if Shanghai falls, it's no big deal since Shanghai was trashed by the bug that hit it a few weeks ago.

Reinforcement:  Yugumo Class DD Kazegumo

An AK landing supply at Davao hit a mine.

Blenheims and Hudsons flying out of Rangoon (I think) damaged 4 AKs at Tavoy, one of them seriously.

The I-26 put a torpedo into an AK about 240 miles south of Christmas Island.

KB stopped off at Koumac to replenish its sorties.  A Val there put a 250 kg bomb into the S-44 also lurking in that hex.

There are 2 regimental sized units belonging to CEA that began the war at Haiphong and Hanoi.  Faber suggested I open up a new front (and give Bob something else to think about) and attack China from there.  They attacked a Chinese unit 120 miles east of Hanoi and just missed 2:1 odds by a few points.  They're going to try a shock attack tomorrow.

We landed troops at Davao, Zamboanga and Tacloban.

Oh yeah, Bruce's horde is sailing south to Wyndham.  They should arrive in 2-3 days.

Palembang's port reached level 4 and Brunei's airfield also reached level 4.

Reinforcement:  92 Heavy Sentai (27 Sallys) for Southern Area

We continued to land troops at Tacloban and Zamboanga.

The I-4 lost it's battle against flooding and succumbed today.  It was hit by DCs on 20 Mar in the middle of the Pacific and had been limping toward port ever since.  Too bad.

Allied Kingfishers put a 250 lb. bomb into an AK carrying troops to invade Wyndham.  The Wyndham invasion force will reach Wyndham tomorrow. [:D]

My 2 regiments that moved east from Hanoi took the crossroad from a Chinese Corps.  This crossroad is the east-west road out of Hanoi and the north-south road along the western edge of China.  Now that I own that I'm not sure what to do.  My forces are relatively weak (~300 AV or so).  I'll have to talk to Bruce and Faber to see what they think.

Bruce moved the 55 Div back into Moulmein a couple of days ago.  They were pushed out by the large Chinese force there again (815 AV vs. 270 AV).

Currently Noumea is a stalemate with 500 Japanese AV to 300 Allied AV.  The difference is that I have about 1000 additional AV headed there and the Allies will only see their AV dwindle.  Today was a first with no Allied ground bombardment there.  Hopefully their supply is dwindling.  Luganville's airfield reached level 2 today.  My Liz Daitai flew to Luganville to begin bombardment of Noumea's airfield.  There are also 2 bombardment TFs at Noumea.  One is a BB and will wait until the day of the assault to bombard.  The other has 4 CLs and 2 DDs and will bombard daily.  Oh yeah, I think Niceguy gave up on aerial resupply/reinforcement of Noumea.  They can no longer support their forces so they'll eventually die on the vine.  I want to expedite that so KB can be released for other missions (or to rest and repair sys damage which is creeping up).
