Garrison is about 12,000 so it will take some time to pull them all back siging isnt saying a lot its focussed on Rangoon operations by the Imp Guards at present.

Apart from that KB has went missing which is worrying.

The remnamnts of 22nd and 27th Aus bdes about a reinforced Bn's worth between the two Divs is now at Townsville.

I also managed to get about a Bdes worth of 11th Indian Div out of Malaya they are resting at Madras.

I probably got just about enough out to refill those Divs as long as i am willing to cannibalise them later for replacements if required. (I got a bit of 9th Indian Div and probably the equivalent of 2 bns worth of other Indian troops out of Malaya so they will be sacrificed to bring 11th up closer to TOE.

The Australian Div will probably never get to full TOE unless I disband 3 or 4 of the Indpt Bns of Aus troops which would leave me vulnerable to rear area para drops so unlikely that Div will ever fully recover

I used an xAK to pull back the 13 damaged P38's that were just sitting at PM not repairing

Lesson learned P38's only to be used at big bases with lots of Av Support

Been considering my defence of India and the Assam Border and a few thoughts about how I am going to do it....

I have de facto a number of Corps HQ's that I can assign to the job and each one will have an OOB tailored to its specific tasks

I am short of Amry level HQ's in India but have an adequate number of Corps HQ's

I need to watch the amount of force I can maintain along the border so that wil restrict the number of forces I can deploy into that region until the infrastructure is improved.

OK HQ's Under Eastern Command responsible for Calcutta to Ledo

Burma Corps

Burma Corps will cover the region Ledo, Imphal Silchar including the railroad into that region. It will be supported by 221 Group RAF

To cover its area of operation it will have 1st Burma Div, 3 Chinese Divs (basically reinforced Regts) 4 Bn's of the Assam Rifles and 6 - 10 Bn's of Burma Rifles - That may be to much force for the infratructure to support so it will need to be watched carefully.

XV Corps will cover Dacca/Chittagong/Akyab/Calcutta Front and will also be supported by 221 Group RAF

XV Corps will have under command a composite Div made up of 44th 45th and 46th Indian Bdes and a couple of British Inf Bns plus 2 - 4 Burmese Rifle Bns on the Commilla/Dacca sector and will have 14th Indian Div covering Calcutta with another 3 Chinese Divs rebuilding in its area that it can call on for garriosn duties.

221 RAF Group

Has 4 Fighter Sqns and 2 Blenheim Sqns plus a PRU Sqn and will operate in support of this theatre but will avoid major action if it can I will base the Group at Dacca initially although I may disperse a couple of the fighter Sqns

III Indian Corps

Will be my reaction Corps for this front and will be held concentrated in Army reserve at a yet to be chosed location but will initially consist of 18th British Div, 17th Indian Div and 7th Armoured Bde plus 6th Medium Regt RA

On the South Sector where distances are greater

IV Corps will cover all the way from Calcutta to Bombay under Souther Command.

Because of its HUGE span of control it has the bulk of my Armour

42nd Cav Regt, 44th Cav Regt, Patalia Lancers, 254th Bde, 255th bde, A composite Div made up of 9 mixed Indian, British, Canadian and Australian Bns (4 Indian, 2 Canadian, 2 British and 1 Australian MG Bn)

4 Indian Divs 7th, 9th and 19th and 23rd all under strength but rebuilding and 1 that is not being rebuild but is in about Bn strength (11th)

Overall the span of control of the Corps is dangerously stretched

looks like the time has come for Java major TF off shore at Java not sure of landing location probably Semaring as its a decent port going to try and extract a price see how it goes

Subs are at sea, AF is reconcentrating we shall see what the day will bring....

Also interestingly KB is supporting an attack on PM still got 10,000 men on PM that I will lose not a lot I can do about it I left my evac to late.

Apart from that the bug out of Burma continues.

Java will not stand we shall see how the fight progresses and decide what to do next

In India I have 5 Indian Bns and 3 British Bns in various Garrison units.

As soon as they have upgraded to Indian 42 Squads they will be disbanded to flesh out the Divs on the Madras Front

I will do the same to the remnant of 11th Indian Div that I pulled out of Malaya in total that will increase my Indian Army pool by about 150 Sections

I will need to scare up a few units to replace them in vital garrison locations but as more troops arrive this can be done

My main issue is that I have 5 on map or newly arriving Divs that are seriously short of Infantry and the sooner I get them up to strength the sooner their XP stops gettign diluted by replacements the sooner they are combat ready.

Between 11th, 23rd, 19th, 7th and 20th Indian Divs I am short 665 Indian Rifle Sections and 47 British Infantery Sections

My replacement rate is 48 per month and I have 83 Sections in the pool at that rate you are talking a year to get all those units up to strength in Infantry [X(][X(] BUT I need to maintain 108 squads in the pool until all my units have converted to Indian Inf 42 Sections - this is vital as the Indian Inf Section is piss poor and you need the 42 upgrade to give them any chance

I could speed that up by prioritising and doing them one at a time and I probably will.

23rd Indian Div will be brough up to strength 1st as it can then move from 'Beach' Div to active Div status

9th will be last on the list and if it had more infantry I would be tempted to disband it as well as 11th but I think I will play it by ear whether I do that.

I hate to be an accountant but the math is pretty horrific when you add it up.........getting the Indian Army ready for battle takes a long time - getting 1 Corps ready is doable but the whole lot....not easy

Don't forget that the WS convoys will bring in some Indian 42 and British sections. That will help some.

Only about 100 Indian Squads it does help (reflects drafts taken from Indian units abroad and in the Persian Gulf in case anyone is interested)

Still talking about a year+ to get my Divs up to strength before they can gain net positive xp

I could speed the process up if I disbanded 2 or 3 of the 20xp Bdes (44, 45 and 46) they are not Bde Groups and are weak so I could basically disband one or two of them BUT I would need to be confident of getting left alone for a year before I make that decision

i.e. if PZB commits to Australia or SOPAC then I might use them to jump start the Indian Army but until I am confident as to his intentions its to much of a risk

Well whats to say not really going to talk about this turn to much

PZB brought less than 2 Divs to PM so I could have held I think ah well live and learn I panicked at shadows I should have staid the course

Lost a lot of air for no return today as my Dutch got through but hit nads and my SBD's went in unescorted and were slaughtered

Found the engagement below hilarious though

PZB brought less than 2 Divs to PM so I could have held I think ah well live and learn I panicked at shadows I should have staid the course

Ah, but you don't know what he held in reserve to send in just in case you had more there. Maybe nothing, maybe the kitchen sink - hoping to bag a nice bunch of prisoners. Go easy on yourself!

Ditto. From reading other AAR's it seems likely that you might have gotten a delay of a week or two for every additional division you lost. Which might have been worth it, if kept him from doing anything else, but it also likely wouldn't have slowed him up all that much elsewhere. Just how much is it worth to tie up a division's worth of shipping for a week or two in terms of effect on the Japanese economy? I suspect, not near compensation for a division worth of Allied troops.

Until you can take on the IJ air, in most of these AAR's if you stop the IJA, the IJN just brings a bigger hammer.

There is one real big difference apart from the agrression v organisation of my opponents approaches so far and thats what I am up to.

In my game v PZB I didnt do a full Sir Robin in Malaya so I only got about 2 bdes worth of combat power out. 1 of those Bdes is in India and will rebuild into 9th Indian Div, I am also holding 18th British Div and both 6th and 7th Australian Divs in India or Ceylon plus a weak US Div thats rebuilding - its my intention to launch an early offensive back into Burma with 2 full Corps in late 42 - to that end I retreated Corps in good order and I am prioritising engineering assets towards India to build up the Assam Border region.

In total I will have in my assault Army

Bur Corps (17th and 14th Indian, 1st Burma Div plus 2 Tank Bn's)
III Indian Corps (9th Indian Div, 18th British Div, 23rd Indian Div)
1st Australian Corps (6th and 7th Aus Div's and a composite US Div)

In Army reserve 7th Armoured Bde plus any other units I can get ready at 100/100 effectiveness and minimum 50 xp by the kick off date

All reinforcements will be prioritised into those forces required for this offensive - in order to succeed the pre requisite is building up an adequate supply net along Assam and at least air neutrality.

I will commit both 221 and 224 RAF Groups to support the attack

This will be my only and major offensive in 1942 and will commence sometime after the end of the Monsoon in October

In contrast in my game against String those forces ended up more or less in Australia so my 42 attack will come out of Australia either to Timor from Perth or more likely back to PM
