And here is a screenshot of Allied plane losses. Again....with the focus of action shifting from the south Pacific to the CBI we see Hurricane IIb losses moving up several positions. F4F-4s make their 1st appearance in the top 10 although their losses were suffered mostly in the CBI.

And here is a screenshot of the top Allied aces. Unfortuantely....Ive had 3 of my top aces KIA in the last month. Two of the KIA were from 51FG/16FS and 1 KIA was from 136 Sqn. RAF. All 3 were killed over Burma and I almost wonder if this was coincidental or if was from the recent intoduction of Tojos. Regardless...Ive got to get my top aces out of P-40Es and P-39Ds and into 2nd generation airframes.

The Allies will reach Mandalay before the 15th Army can withdraw....15th Army will need to take the back roads to escape from northern Burma.

Dave is withdrawing his army in Mandalay towards Meiktila....only 3500 troops remain in Mandalay.

Dave has lost over 1500 squads in 2 attacks on Manila....the equivalent of 3 1/2 divisions! His troops will need to rest and recover for some time before they can cause mischief elsewhere.

A US tank battalion recaptures Lucena after it had reverted to Japanese control by osmosis. I set the supply draw at Lucena to 4000 to suck all the supplies out of SE Luzon and strangely I now have 61,000 supplies in Lucena with no supplies in either Manila or Batangas. I have Manila set to "stockpile" supplies with a supply draw request of over 30,000 but cant seem to draw supplies into the city.

NORPAC

Allied xAPs drop off reinforcments at Umnak and Dutch Harbor. Mohawks on CAP shoot down several Bettys and Sallys attempting to intercept Allied shipping.

To me this area is still a backwater and I think that I have enough force committed here now to hang onto both Umnak and Dutch harbor against anything short of an all out Japanee assault.

Construction engineers and base forces are marching down the Kokoda Trail towards Buna and we should have the AF there operational within a week. The AF at Buna will allow the Allies to project airpower into the Bismarck Sea.

Meanwhile....Colonel Chesty Puller's 7th Marine Regiment closes in on Salamaua as the vanguard of the 1st marine Divison.

We continue to airlift and fast transport construction engineers into Kiriwina Island and it now has completed 85% of a level 1 port. The completion of an AF here will put Allied AC within 7 hexes of the great Japanese aerodrome at Rabaul.

Horn Island completes a level 2 AF.

Over at Pearl Harbor...CV Lexington completes repair of her torpedo damage and is ready to rejoin the US fleet in the south Pacific. CV Saratoga will require another 33 days to complete repair of her torpedo damage so I may just leave most of the US fleet in port for the 10/42 upgrades. Once Lex and Sara rejoin the fleet SOPAC can resume its offensive into the northern Solomons.

This had the effect of cancelling out the movement of the entire Allied stack in Shwebo trying to cross the Irrawaddy River. I had all of my army set "to follow" an artillery unit so I lost a week of movement just before the army was to shock attack across the Irrawaddy. I had something like happen before in a game of CHS where my opponent was using a half dozen small armor LCUs to continually cut the movement of over 200,000 Chinese troops and fix them in place and eventually the game was discontinued. I didnt say anything when Dave landed penny pockets of paratroops from 2 para LCUs all across NE India a couple of months ago but I thought that this was a bit over the top and I said something about it to Dave. Dave is desperately trying to evacuate 15th Army from E of Lashio and desperate times call for desperate measures.

My sweeps and aerial bombardments of Meiktila AF were disappointing. My P-38Fs that swept at 39,000' hammered the Tojos but for some reason half of the P-38Fs swept at 17,000'(against orders) and the Tojos repaid them in kind.

I had broken down all my divisions to help recover disablements and I also put several LCUs on rest and Dave's attack caught me by surprise. The good thing is.....over 40,000 supplies were drawn into Manila from southern Luzon but now I only have about 1300 AV to oppose 2200 IJA AV. Dave actually had 1 of his recon or engineer LCUs killed last turn from his attacks.

CBI

The 3000 AV of Eastern Army is still stuck at Shwebo as Japan compleets its evacuation of Mandalay and retreats to the south.

The 2000 AV of the IJA 15th Army reaches Lashio. I will take Mandalay before they can get there so the 15th Army will need to retreat down the secondary roads towards Taung Gyi.

Burma Corps splits with about 700 AV capturing Bhamo and advancing on Lashio while the other 700 AV rails into Shwebo to reinforce Eastern Army and bring its total AV up to about 3700.

Meanwhile....over 1000 AV of Indian troops.....mostly armor....races down the coastal road towards Akyab.

My biggest problemm in Burma is a lack of supply. All transport AC and remaining medium bombers in India are flying in supplies to Shwebo but its not nearly enough to support an offensive and so far Ive not been able to draw supplies from Myitkina to Shwebo.

In China....Dave concentrated his air force over southern China to cover his main manuever army(approximately 3000 AV) to advance in "move" mode while his bombers have kept my withdrawing Chinese in "combat" mode. This turn he catches my main Chinese army in the south 1 hex out of Kahnsien and launches a massive shock attack:

Daves army suffers almost as much as my Chinese troops who are now retreated into the clear terrain of Kahnsien. If Dave can advance his army into Kahnsien and attack again before I can withdraw into rough terrain towards Kukong my army will be halved again and then there will be insuffucent forces to stop the Japanese army in the south of China. If Im able to withdraw my troops at Kansien(1400 AV) towards Kukong they will be reinforced with another 700 AV marching from Kukong and a 2100 AV army in rough terrain should be able to stand up to the Japanese. Im staging in most of the modern Chinese fighters(Vanguards and Lancers)to Kukong to cover the withdrawal of the Chinese troops in Kahnsien. I also staging in the remnants of 3 RAF and USAAF squadrons that were battered over Manila last turn to help LRCAP the retreating Chinese troops. Additional Chinese fighters are staged into Nanchang along with Chinese A-29 bombers and USAAF B-25s from India. USAAF 4Es are also staged into Changsha from India. All the Allied 2E and 4E bombers in China will then ground attack the IJA army to try to put it in "combat" mode to slow it down.

This is a very critical battle unfolding in southern China. If the Chinese troops are routed again it could even open up a path for Japanese troops to capture not only Kukong but also advance on Changsha. Im pulling in reserves from central China(Ichang) and south central China(Nanchang) to help build a new line to the south of Changsha.

PHILIPPINES

Dave completes his sweep of the minefields off Bataan and delivers his 1st naval bombardment at Manila. I had moved in 3 Allied fighter squadrons to cover Manila so that more fortifications could be built but Dave staged in more AC and literally overran my fighter groups. The remnants of the fighter groups are now staged into Kukong to hlep LRCAP Allied troops there.

Dave rests his troops and only bombards at Manila this turn....but with 17 artillery units the bombardment damage is very substantial:

This had the effect of cancelling out the movement of the entire Allied stack in Shwebo trying to cross the Irrawaddy River. I had all of my army set "to follow" an artillery unit so I lost a week of movement just before the army was to shock attack across the Irrawaddy. I had something like happen before in a game of CHS where my opponent was using a half dozen small armor LCUs to continually cut the movement of over 200,000 Chinese troops and fix them in place and eventually the game was discontinued. I didnt say anything when Dave landed penny pockets of paratroops from 2 para LCUs all across NE India a couple of months ago but I thought that this was a bit over the top and I said something about it to Dave. Dave is desperately trying to evacuate 15th Army from E of Lashio and desperate times call for desperate measures.

AdmSpruance, I have mixed feelings about this one because it is difficult to draw the line between a calculated sacrifice of a unit and a game exploit. To me, it is not significantly different than how the game allows us to order as many ships as we desire to act as sacrificial blockade runners in single ship TFs, with near certain knowledge the ships will be sunk and the crews killed or captured even if they reach there target, and the ship captains always faithfully attempt to make-it (if the correct settings are chosen).

In real life, it's doubtful that one tank regiment's suicidal attack would undo several days of marching progress for ten of thousands of troops who are trying hard to beat Japan to Mandalay.

It's the same reason why the use of single ship merchant TFs as pickets is frowned upon because it screws up strike packages. While the action might be realistic/plausible, the game engine cannot process it correctly.

This is indeed the problem; however, a spoiling attack by a reasonably sized armor unit certainly could have a significant effect on on the lead division of a corps, impacting the entire formation. I think the issue is, when does a unit represent a reasonable size to have this effect; the game engine does not differentiate between a platoon and a division sized spoiling attack.

My semi-informed opinion: it would take a lot more than even a full IJA Armor Rgt (barely larger than a US Tank BN) to stop a Corps in its tracks, although the early war performance of the Commonwealth forces in Burma gives me pause when saying so. Thus, I think AdmSpruance was justified in making a complaint to his opponent although I still have mixed feelings.

I was also trying to note that Dave may view this type of game play from a different perspective in terms of suicide units (pre-Kami) to achieve tactical and operational goals due to the use of a large number of single ship TF blockade runners to the PI. The naval search and naval attack air engines tend to overlook these ships and the 2-day turn cycle means they often have more time to unload before the player can send surface forces to sink them.

Wirraway_Ace and House Stark.....thanx for your comments. Just to let you know....I havent had exclusive use of the single ship TFs to evade naval search. Dave has captured nearly all the Gilberts, half the Aleutians and even invaded in the New Hebrides with single ship TFs....right under the nose of dozens of PBYs. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander. You cant rely on naval search to pick up single ship TFs....you need to have surface TFs on patrol and they are nearly 100% effective.

I had a nice conversation with Dave regarding the parafrag drops and the use of a suicide unit to nullify the movement of an entire army. I didnt really care about it if it was a one time thing....if Dave's 15th Army gets away it gets away. My only concern is if there was a repetitive use of it....say using 4 armor LCUs to repeatedly cut the movement every 3-4 turns and fix my army in place for a month. I consider Dave to be a very fair and honest player and has my most sincere recommendation should anyone decide to take up a game against him. In fact....Dave thanked me for bringing this up and encouraged me to bring up anything else that irks me in the future...and he will let me know if Im doing something that irks him. After all...we are playing this game to have fun.

Allied air forces ruled the day during the latest turn. Dave was trying to pin my defeated/halved Chinese army in place at Kanhsien while his army next door entered the hex to finish off the Chineswe. Well a major air battle broke out over both the retreating Chinese army in Kanhsien and the advancing Japanese army next to Kansien. The Allied air forces won both air battles....LRCAP over Kansien allowed all but 3 Chinese LCUs to evacuate the hex where they retreated into the rough terrain hex next door to Kukong. Meanwhile...B-17s, B-24s, B-25s and Chinese A-29s hammered the Japanese army that was in pursuit and fixed the entire army in place outside of Kanhsien save for 3 armor LCUs that entered the town. So now there are 3 IJA armor LCUs and 3 Chinese infantry LCUs left in Kanhsien. The majority of the Chinese southern army has escaped and been reinforce so that we have 1900 AV in the rough terrain between Kanhsien and Kukong.

Dave has a tendency to denude his front line in China so he can concentrate overhwelming force in 1 or 2 areas. The only way to stop this is too attack the Japanese where they are weak and the Chinese are now back on the offensive in central and northern China. Ive got one 3000 AV Chinese army outside of Sinyang and another 3000 Chinese AV army outside of Kaifeng. Dave has a reserve of 22 IJA LCUs at Hangchow....I imagine that he will rail them up to Kaifeng but that leaves him with no more effective manuever forces in China.

In Burma......after 2 weeks of trying to cross the Irrawaddy River....advance elements of Eastern Army....including 7th Armored....advance into a deserted Mandalay. It will take 4 more days for the rest of Eastern Army to concentrate in Mandalay.

Meanwhile.......over 1000 AV of mostly Indian armored formations speeds down the coast road from Cox's Bazaar towards Akyab and Burma.

Meiktila became the major Japanese AF in Burma after the withdrawal from Mandalay and I swept it last turn with P-38Es and P-38Fs at high altitude while Hurricane XIIbs swept at medium altitude. The Allies scored their largets aerial victory in several months in the skiies over the CBI this turn. Japan loses 87 AC vs 23 Allied AC. In A2A....Japan loses 60 AC vs 13 Allied AC. Individual plane losses include 41 Oscars, 25 Tojos and 6 Hurricane XIIbs. We will turn up the heat in the battle for aerial supremacy over SWPAC next turn.

The losses are much lighter than in previous assaults and I will take this kind of result any day.

I had staged in 3 fighter squadrons to provide air cover for Manila so that more forts could be built but Dave quickly overwhelmed them a couple of turns ago and now all Allied fighters are gone from Luzon.

SWPAC

Ive been able to keep the Japanese AFs at Munda and Shortlands closed with medium bombers and all the USAAF 4Es in the south Pacific were put back into the strategic reserve over a week ago. The US 5th AF was recently relocated to Port Moresby and the 4Es in reserve were released to 5th Air Force this turn. The commander of the 5th Air Force....General Kenney...needs to gain air supremacy in the area and shut down the Japanese AFs at Rabaul, Kavieng and Manus before SOPAC can resume its advance into the northern solomons.

This turn nearly 100 4Es....ecorted by Beuafighter Ics....will hit the major Japanese aerodrome at Rabaul Two squadrons with 50 of the new P-38Fs will sweep Rabaul before the bombers arrive. japan has 90 figfhters and 20 Aux. AC at Rabaul.

The weather should be favorable both at the launchpoint and at the target.

FUBAR TURN IN THE AIR

I tried to get cute with the targeting of Rabaul and the whole mission fell apart. I put all my 4Es at Port Moresby on naval/airfield attack so that the P-38Fs would sweep Rabaul 1st. Well of course the P-38F sweepers didnt fly on day 1 of the turn and my 4Es bombed naval targets at both Manus and Rabaul instaed of the AF at rabaul and of course the Beaufighter Ic bomber escorts didnt sortie either....net result is that the 4Es got shot up a bit by Japanese CAP over both Manus and Rabaul and Rabaul AF is still open for business. Ive now got a lot of damaged 4Es and Dave probably knows whats up but I will try bombing Rabaul again next turn with "airfield" selected as the primary mission.

Things were even more FUBAR in China. My USAAF, RAF and Chinese medium bombers hit the Japanese army now at Kanhsien and again none of the 70 Allied sweepers or escorts fly. Unfortunately while 4Es can survive unescorted missions against Japanese CAP the Allied medium bombers are "dead meat". In Burma....Dave evacuated his AF at Meiktila so the P-38s sweepers found empty skiies over the base. Allied medium bombers in India hit Lashio AF and inflict 30% damage.

I lost 55 AC this turn vs 33 Japanese AC. Individual plane losses include 16 Chinese A-29s, 12 B-25Cs, 9 Tojos, 7 Oscars and 7 P-38Fs. All it takes is one turn like this where Allied medium bombers arent escorted and the sweepers dont fly and then boom....there goes your air force. Im withdrawing all the Allied bombers from the front line in China to rebuild their formations. It will take the better part of 2 months for the Chinese to replace their A-29
losses.

PHILIPPINES

Manila is bombarded again by ships, airplanes and ground troops. No ground assault thus turn.

Eastern Army continue to mass in Mandalay as units are still crossing the Irrawaddy River.

Dave spotted our flanking manuever on our right flank.....the "armored fist" streaming down the coast road into Burma.

We both tried to play "gotcha" with aerial sweeps last turn......Dave swept Akyab(where Indian armor is crossing the river) and Shwebo while we swept Toungoo. Both sides missed each other but Dave LRCAPed Shwebo and shot down a few of our transport AC and bombers flying in supplies. Next turn Im switching the aerial resupply terminus from Shwebo to Myitkina and I will sweep Shwebo with massed fighters.

In China....Dave evacuated Kanhsien and his southern army disappeared from our radar screens...it looks like they were heading towards Chuhsien before they disappeared. No matter...the threat to kukong and Changsha from the south is gone and we will re-occupy Kanhsien next turn.

I have almost 2x the AV in Sinyang as Dave has but I want to reinforce with a couple more corps before I launch any attacks.

Even farther north....Dave evacuated Kaifeng in front of the onrushing Chinese hordes and we will secure the city next turn. This part of the Japanese line has been absolutely stripped and it looks like there is nothing to stop the Chinese advance here at the moment.

Possibly Dave's southern army is heading back north to deal with these issues. Dave's main reserve in central China....some 22 LCUs at Hangchow....appears to be redeploying by rail now to points farther north.

The USAAF 4Es and P-38Fs are pretty shot up now and will withdraw to Australia to rest and take on replacements... and hopefully General Kenney has better command control the next time the heavy bomber reserve is committed.

Kiriwina has now built both a level 1 port and AF and fighters are staged in to cover the unloading at the port.

Horn Island now has a level 3 AF with an Air HQ and torpedo bombers are staged in.

Japanese AV on Luzon is now down to less than 1800. I can accept exchange ratios like this all day. The Allies till have over 45,000 supplies in southern Luzon.

Allied armor enters Magwe and an attack will be launched next turn.

Eastern Army has over 3000 AV across the Irrawaddy River now in Mandalay and they begin their advance on Meiktila.

The USAAF hits Chiang Mai AF hard with B-25s and destroys 18 bombers on the ground. Ive staged all the USAAF B-25s and 4Es back to India from China. Dave has pulled back his air force in Burma to Taung Gyi and Rangoon. Taungoo, Lashio, Magwe, Meiktila and Chiang Mai AFs have been mostly abandoned. The B-25s and 4Es in India will hit Taung Gyi next turn. P-38Fs will sweep Taung Gyi at high altitude.

In China, Chinese troops secure abandoned Kaifeng...thats the 1st time Ive ever captured Kaifeng in any game of WitP, CHS, Big B or AE. 1100 Chinese AV will assault Anyang next turn.

In the south....Chinese troops re-enter Kanhsien and will recapture the base next turn.

The IJA reserve of 22 LCUs in Hangchow has cleared out now as Dave rails these troops to plug the gaping holes in his line in the north.

This game just keeps getting more and more interesting. Assuming that Manila falls fairly soon with that much power arrayed against it, where do you think your opponent is going to send those divisions? You're threatening breakthroughs in China, on the move in Burma, and advancing slowly in New Guinea/Solomons.

House Stark.....great question! Dave has over 9 divisions and 17 artillery LCUs at Manila and where he deploys his army once he has taken all of Luzon will determine the course of the game. I imagine that Dave will leave his most beat up division on Luzon as a garrison. That leaves Japan with 8 divisions to create mischief somewhere.

If Dave wants to have a Phase II offensive he will need to commit all 8 divisions to one objective. If Japan commits 8 more divisions to China it would allow them to conduct 2 offensives at once instead of just one offensive and Dave would have a shot at taking either Sian or Changsha. India is rather stripped after I bought over 1000 AV of Indian armor and sent it down the coastal road to Burma. An amphib invasion of India with 8 divisions could cause the Allies quite a few problems and would require the redeployment of much of the US Navy...including the carriers.....to the Indian Ocean. An invasion of northern Australia with 8 divisions would cause me quite a few problems and woukd require the Allies to siphon off troops from both SWPAC and SOPAC to put up an adequate defense.

The only problem with the above scenarios for Japan is the current situation in Burma.If Japan doesnt reinforce its position in Burma.....and quickly...I will be in Thailand before Christmas. The Japanese position in SE Asia would basically collapse and I would overrun Indochina by early 1943. This is exactly what happened in my 1st game of AE ....."in Harm's Way" on page 5 or 6 of the AARs. I was able to overrun all of Indochina by 2/43 and was on the Indochina/Chinese border.

But Dave wont let me do that in this game. He will need to send at least 5 divisions to Burma quickly to save the situation. That leaves him with 3 divisions to cause me headaches. I think that the current Japanese offensive in northern Australia is merely a diversion and the presence of 3 more IJA divisions there wont make a difference. If Dave commits all 8 divisions to Burma it would probably force me to withdraw back to Myitkina and Kalemyo and go on the defensive for at least a year but that would leave the Allies free to advance at will in SOPAC and SWPAC(New Guinea especially).

I think that Dave will commit 5 divisions to Burma and 2-3 divisions to New Guinea to make a fight out of it in both places. Ive already planned for that eventuality and have the 32nd Division, the 1st Marine Division, the 6th Australian Division and a half dozen armor battalions already ashore in Papua New Guinea. Three additional IJA divisions will slow me down but wont stop SWPAC completely as we will have massive overwhelming aerial support.

Eastern Army captures Meiktila.

Burma Corps closes in on Lashio.

USAAF heavy bombers are joined by the 1st squadron of RAF heavy bombers....Liberator IIs....at Dacca and together they hammer the Japanese AF at Toungoo. Japan loses 40 AC this turn vs 13 Allied AC. Sixteen Japanese AC were destroyed on the ground and in A2A Japan loses 13 AC vs 1 Allied AC.

The Japanese AFs at Mandalay and Meiktila have been overrun and the AFs at Magwe and Lashio have been evacuated. The AFs at Toungoo and Chiang Mai have suffered 50% damage and the AF at Taung Gyi is now 75% damaged. Most of the Japanee air force has now been pulled back to Rangoon or even farther to Thailand. Unfortunately....we have very little supply at the most forward Allied AFs at Mandalay and Shwebo so fighters there cant use drop tanks.....so we cant escort bombers into Rangoon yet. Akyab has just been enlarged to a level 4 AF and seems to be able to draw supplies from India so we have some BFs on the way there so I will eventually base the P-38Fs there for long range sweeps over Rangoon.

In China....the Chinese continue to advance towards Chengting and Suchow. I have a feeling that the IJA reserves in the north will eventually materialize in the railyards at Suchow but we will see.

PHILIPPINES

Air, ground and naval bombardments at Manila. No assaults as Dave continues to rest his troops.

SWPAC

The entire 1st Marine Division has reached Salamaua and an attack is ordered for next turn.

The weather is bad at Port Moresby and over Japanese AFs at Manus and Rabaul so 5th Air Force stands down the 4Es.

SOPAC

I havent said much about SOPAC for a couple of months. The level 4 Japanese AFs at Munda and Shortlands remain closed for business. In fact...it appears as if Dave is withdrawing forces from both islands via transport AC. Allied LRCAP is intercepting Japanese transport AC almost every turn over Shortlands.

The recent lack of amphibious assaults doesnt mean that SOPAC has been sitting around idly. The pace of xAKs and xAPs in the south Pacific has been frenetic as rear area bases on New Caledonia, Fiji and the New Hebrides have been stripped of combat troops, construction engineers and base forces. All the fresh engineers and base forces arriving in the theatre have been distributed to SWPAC for their advance on New Guinea. SOPAC has been forced to cannibalize their rear area bases to support their next leap forward into the northern Solomons. All of the units pulled out of SOPAC rear area bases are being staged forward to Luganville and Lunga. Combat troops on Guadalcanal, Tulagi, Russell and Rennell have been quietly prepping for Japanese held islands in the northern Solomons and most are now 100% prepped.

Id say that almost 90% of the US Navy is currently in port completing 9/42 and 10/42 upgrades. CV Saratoga had been in "high" shipyard repair at Pearl Harbor with an estimate of 26 days to complete repair of her torpedo damage. This turn her flotation damage had been reduced to 5 and I was able to take her out of the shipyard and place her on "critical" pierside repair......that takes her estimate to repair damage down to 15 days. CV Lexington has completed repair of her torpedo damage at Pearl and is just finishing up with her latest upgrades.Most of the rest of the USN carriers, BBs and CAs will complete their upgrades in about a week. BB North Carolina, BB South Dakota and BB Washington were all sent back to the US west coast and when they werent completing upgrades they were sailing up and down the coast trying to gain more experience by staying out at sea. They will be sent to Oahu in a few days to join Sara and Lex when they complete repairs and upgrades and then they all will head back to the south Pacific.

I should be ready to resume the SOPAC offensive into the northern Solomons by the 2nd week of November. Newly arriving CVE Altamaha and CVE Nassau should also arrive in the south Pacific by the time we resume the offensive. That will give the USN 6 CVs, 4 CVEs, 3 fast BBs and 5 slow BBs to support amphibious ops. CVE Prince William and BB Indiana should arrive in the south Pacific in early December.

The US Navy is quite a bit different now than it was when we first entered the Solomons in April 1942. All the carrier VF squadrons have been enlarged to 36 AC and most are flying F4F-4s. Our navy pilot traning program has been churning out an extraordinary number of very highly trained pilots and CV VF squadrons are virtually all elite.... 70+ experience and 70+ air skill. In fact....for the 1st time for me in WitP....Ive been able to upgrade the VF pilots on CVEs to elite status. The DB and TBF pilots have all been crosstrained for ASW. All USN ships have been upgraded to the latest and greatest sonar and radar. Dave will be a bit surprised the next time he resorts to massed sub wolfpacks around USN carriers.

Havent said much about naval losses as opposed to numerous posts on the air war. Ive attached a screenshot of BB losses to date. BB losses have been pretty heavy for both sides up to this point in the war. Japan lost BB Mutsu in a Feb. 1942 US carrier raid on rabaul. The other 5 BBs were sunk during the 2 day Naval Battle of Guadalcanal(6/5-6/6/42). Note that credit was given to the USN CAs for the sinking of BB Hiei...similar to RL. Dave has been very cautious with his use of surface TFs since the IJN debacle in 6/42.

The Allies lost BC Repulse early in the war in attempt to break the Japanese naval blockade of Luzon and help Allied shipping leave Manila port. One R class BB was lost early in the Solomon campaign to IJN subs and another R Class BB was finished off by an IJN sub following the Naval battle of Guadalcanal. With these IJN BB losses I would expect Dave to complete BB Musashi at the expense of delaying future CVs.

And here Ive attached a screenshot of cruiser losses to date. Unlike the BBs, CA losses have been light for being this far into the war. The USN CA losses resulted from the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal(6/-6/6/42) and most of the RN cruiser losses occurred earlier in the Solomons campaign.

NAVAL LOSSES

Losses of minor combatant ships have been light and fairly even for both the Allies and the Japanese at this point of the war. To date... the Japanese have lost 15 DDs, 15 subs and 7 SSXs.

The Allies have lost 12 DDs and 14 subs to date. Ive attached a screenshot of Allied sub losses so far in the war.
Note that 4 subs total and 3 subs in the last 3 weeks have been sunk by Japanese ASW AC off the Admiralty/Bismarck/New Britain Islands. Dave has 1 or 2 Sally squadrons with elite pilots based at Manus and/or Kavieng that are wreaking havoc with our sub patrols....an additional 6 USN subs have been heavily damaged.
