Air War briefing - Turn 71, 25OCT42

German's are feeling the crush of Soviet production at this point, Soviet AS report shows an advantage of aircraft in battlefront.

Two air fleets have been refitted with new Me-109's late models, so the Germans are hoping to regain some superiority in the skies over the battle field.

After a Soviet double turn, the Air war continues to be very active.

Two air wings were upgraded to newer model Me-109's, and have been making a difference on the southern front.

You're not going to try to reduce Sevastopol with the Romanians are you?

Uncertain at the moment, supplies to the front have dropped to about 12%. So, any advance will need RR engineers to bring the rail line close in. I may use the bulk of the Romanians to secure the area, and bring in some German troops to assist. Really can't leave the land aircraft carrier in Soviet hands to attack into the rear areas once the front moves forward towards Rostov.

With the supply in its' current state, I'm trying not to move off in all directions, to hard to maintain decent supply levels and adequate support.

Is this normal? Exercised the theater option to upgrade the 16th Motorized Division to a PzGr Division.. and the division has no equipment now on the next turn after chooses the option.

I can only assume that this is meant to be the time it takes to refit the division. But then my question begs, why not just keep them out of the theater for a month or something to simulate the refit time.

I'm just guessing here, with my answer I'm meaning, and we'd have to ask Steve Sill for the REAL answer but I'm thinking
this isn't normal. I'm guessing, going on past scenarios that Steve has done, that the equipment that was supposed to fill
out the unit didn't get issued at the CBPO for some reason. ( Consolidated Base Personnel Office ). I'm thinking that you
may have found a bug. I'll send a pm to Steve to give him a heads up.

Remain Calm !! No bug there ! The previous units are disbanded, so the new unit relies on that disbanded equipment and whatever is in the Replacement Pool to fill up.

This is good and bad. It's good because the units arrive very light and can be easily railed. It's bad if your replacements are depleted and the unit takes a long time to get up to strength [if ever]. Note that units don't get replacements on the turn that they arrive, nor when they are embarked. So, you can leave them out of harms way while they fill up and pay to ship them later, or ship them now and just keep them back from the front a little until they are effective.

I guess I should add a blurb in the OOB Document.

OK, thanks Steve, I was figuring it was something along those lines. Just caught me by surprise that's all. It get's tricky to do the upgrades if things are going badly.. :)

Yeah, thanks Steve dude. And such a speedy answer. You're da man.

EDIT: 16 minutes elapsed time. Let's see the WITP-AE team beat that.

AGC update - Turn 73, 08NOV42

The Moscow defenders have been reduced to almost nothing. Another week and they should crumble and be gone. That will free up a substantial amount of Infantry divisions for redeploy.

ok, so, I exercised the SS Wiking upgrade to PzGr Div status. And the next turn it came back in Berlin, but has much better starting point than the 16th PzGr Div.

Does the SS Unit have these base units, and so it doesn't go back into the pool for "distribution" then?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Ask in different words maybe.

My question is, with the SS unit, did they have marder II/III's in it original equipment list, because it has 30 of these units on the next turn. And the 16th PzGr (old 16th Motorized unit) still has "0" Marder II/III's after sitting a complete turn.

Nvm, just checked the SS Wiking, and this is "new" equipment for them also.. But, I think I realized the answer, different formations have different priorities for receiving replacements over different units. And, I think the SS units had first "dibs" on replacements. That would answer some of my question, I guess.

AGC update - Turn 74, 15NOV42

The last of the Moscow city defenders have been eliminated. All city hexes are German controlled. Time to redeploy units involved in clearing out the Soviets. Time to look at battle goals again, and prepped units for Spring 1943.

Um.....yeah, there IS a way to boost the priority for replacements and it wouldn't surprise me to find out that Steve has done that
to your upgraded formations. Which is a good thing......it'll help them to fill out faster than they would have.

AGS update - turn 74, 15NOV42

Situation is proving pretty fluid, forces are knocking to move further south. 13th AK has been moved south to assist with the acquisition of Simferopol and Sevastopol. Mountain troops are being moved to the south also to help with the difficult terrain. Some heavy Arty and railway guns are being moved into assist with the capture of the city.

Eastern flank with be secured with a push towards Kerch and hold a defensive line, and then the attack towards the coastal city with begin.
