After Japanese planes scored some success on this reinforcement task force last turn I am left wondering why it is still in place serenely unloading. No doubt the Allies are intending on making this one painful thorn in my side but to reinforce without a combat SAG or two to brush aside my rather light weight force. A decent number of Commonwealth light cruisers put in an appearance yesterday at Burma so they are accounted for the time being. Now…. What of the American carriers. Will they appear to tilt the balance at Milne Bay?

Japanese forces CAPTURE Gasmata!!!

Caught napping at Rabaul with insufficient CAP in the air. Ed is happy to clean up a bunch of support ships. I’m more grieved to lose the submarines. Ed also reported that the B-26s weren’t meant to fly but thanks to a lucky clicking error they flew and obtained a good result for the Allies. A temporary setback and in all honesty, I’ll take this over the airfield being plastered. As for my victorious ships from yesterday… for some reason they did not vacate the field as I thought I had ordered them. Amazingly the damage is not too bad. The damaged ships will recover if they make a harbour unmolested by underwater dangers. And as expected the Gasmata invasion task force was also targeted. Kaga and friends were covering and happily chewed up the flight of dive bombers looking for easy prey.
