Oh yeah, Joe is right, some British MTBs use 21in torpedoes, but most only some aerial 18in, with 2000 yards range. That makes them quite useless, as ships extremely rarely engage below 4000 yards. I wonder if this is error in database? No Mark XII mentions it was used on MTBs, but Mark XV entered service in 1943, and still had only 3500 yards range.

Maybe it should be Mark VII? They were used on Destroyers build before WWI, and had respectable 6000-7000 yards range.

British (and probably Dutch) MTBs were designed to operate in the foggy North Sea, close to their bases. Thus the short range of their boats and their torps.

Big issue is that there is no chance now of surprise; assuming he hadn't figure out before, he is now well aware the location of the British fleet. This likely means his invasion will include pretty much the entire IJN surface fleet; it will be another slug fest

It will only be a slug fest if you let it. At least it will draw most of his fleet there and if acts elsewhere as well, then you have opportunities with your fast cruiser/destroyer groups.

The way I am envisioning this is that once I see the amphibious fleet, moving to Java or Palembang, I will send as many smaller TFs as I can, with the hope that at least one hit the APs

then depending on how things end, I will rearm in Soerabaja or withdraw; I am not too concerned about losses because these are mostly old ships, most flagged for withdrawal

last turn's intel reports were accurate; he disembarked at Sabang and he is preparing to invade Koepang, and mini KB will be on support

Sabang, or for what matters the entire northern Sumatra, is already forfeit. I won't do nothing to stop or delay him there

Koepang is a different matter, as I am tempted to try another battle against Japanese carriers, problem is this time I won't have land based support, or better to say, land based support will be very costly.
Let me explain, I neglected Koepang under the expectation it won't last long, so there is no air support of any kind there, except of relatively good supply (9K) and the fact it is a L4 airbase.
Any squadron that is based there will lose all its planes after he storms it. To compound the problem, my best squadrons, ABDA USAAF, are all due to withdraw in 4 days. I rebased them to Soerabaja so that next turn I can decide if they go to Koepang, for a costly battle, or they just withdraw with their honor, but no glory

- nothing to worry too much about the ships; Hermes is OK and can withdraw at relatively high speed of 22 knots. I bet Junyo will need some shipyard repairs, so would likely leave the area, the IJA BBs will probably stay giving support to the invasion

- aircraft are depleted so there is no point in staying for more punishment

- ABDA P-40Es and Banshees will withdraw, damaged planes at Koepang will be destroyed

Unless you are going to lose Koepang soon, I would not destroy the air craft. Merge the damaged airplanes into one squadron if possible and then ship them out. Some may even repair.
