Knavey and I are brothers, have written into our wills that our sons (Matthew (mine) = 1 year, and Bryan (Dave's) = 2 months), will be taking over our PBEM games (the games will probably still be going long after we've flopped over dead).
But yes, my son will learn to play "Air Force" and "Dauntless" as soon as he can read a maneuver card.
"You want to play checkers? Phhhhtttt. Checkers is for sissies. I'll show you a real game. This one is "Squad Leader". Forget "skipping around board", or "jumping" over the enemy, in Checkers. In "Squad Leader" you use artillery to kill the bastards. And your Uncle Dave (Knavey), has got "Flat Top" and "The Longest Day". One day, you and I are gonna go over to Uncle Dave's house, and successfully defend Normandy against Dave & Bryan in "The Longest Day".
Oh. And don't tell your mother I taught you the word "bastard".
A new generation of gamers is in the making!

I have absolutely nothing to add to this conversation at all. Please do not assume that this is in any way a meaningful post nor should it be construed to be in support of any view or opinion posted either before or after this post in this thread that is if there are any more posts after this post. Neither I am not making any attempt to increase my post count by posting this post as I am expending too much energy typing even though my post count will increase by one. Now go on and read another meaningful post which this one is not.
Thank you.
Yes, it is a dry heat... but so is a bloody blast furnace!
The fact that he is bitching reveals he does in fact "want" the game. Everything in life is a trade off. Whatthe item is worth compared to it's price (even my wife : )
Myself, I would gladly pay the $80 AGAIN just so I could keep playing, maybe even more. (once again kinda like my wife, I just keep paying and paying and paying : )
I bought SPI's War in the Pacific board game about 24 years ago. I waited for years to find a comparable computer game, and had given up hope when i stumbled across UV. Had been out of serious board gaming since getting hitched etc etc[:(] Now, having spent my £38.99 a year ago on WitP I finally stopped saving for building the house extension (for the games room) thereby saving me £15,000[:D]
Hi, No I don't think it right to be rude just because that is how you think you have been treated. I hope I was not rude but more suprised. I thought it was a troll question but wondered about the 49 price being acceptable (tolerated) but 70 being robbery.
Like going to the grocery and cussing out the clerks because some potpies cost 25 cents and others cost a dollar. There is no standard price for potpies but instead it is based on quality and customer commitment. (if they don't buy your dollar potpies you lower price by lowering quality)
Personally I don't like 25 cent potpies because they don't have bottoms. (and I'm not sure what kind of meat they put in them)
In short some responses have treated the first post like it was a question and deserved an answer. I've read it a dozen times from different angles (standing on my head, or from back of monitor) but I still don't see the question. I see it more as an editorial on morals as applies to price of software but I don't see anything that justifies 49 as being the upper limit of a program or how the poster thinks prices should be detirmined.
I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!

Hey, I am having a pot pie right now. Also 25 cent pot pies? Where do you live, 1962?

Hi, Well Duh where do you live 1856? (I bet the Yankees win the series again)
No, then the pot pies would cost a nickle. [:'(]
