Six days before the ides (15th) of January would be January 9th. How does this get to be Lindisfarne Day?Sardaukar wrote: Mon Jun 08, 2026 11:24 am Very related:

Happy Lindisfarne day!
On This Day AD 793 – The Vikings Invade Lindisfarne!
“these were immense flashes of lightening, and fiery dragons were seen flying in the air. A great famine immediately followed these signs…” And then… “on the sixth day before the ides of January, the woeful inroads of heathen men destroyed god’s church in Lindisfarne island by fierce robbery and slaughter”.
‘…They came to the church of Lindisfarne, laid everything waste with grievous plundering, trampled the holy places with polluted steps, dug up the altars and seized all the treasures of the holy church. They killed some of the brothers, took some away with them in fetters, many they drove out, naked and loaded with insults, some they drowned in the sea…’

Re: THE THREAD!!!
Could it be that it is translated wrongly and was the ides of Iunius that somehow got translated to January? Ianuarius is somewhat similar to Iunius so it seems an possible explanation.BBfanboy wrote: Mon Jun 08, 2026 2:44 pmSix days before the ides (15th) of January would be January 9th. Re: THE THREAD!!!
Sounds plausible. The description of lighting storms doesn't fit with January either, so June is more likely. And the dragons? Probably just those pesky aliens or Norse gods again.Orm wrote: Mon Jun 08, 2026 4:33 pmCould it be that it is translated wrongly and was the ides of Iunius that somehow got translated to January?
