September 19th, 1942
In Australia my forces drive back the Aussie Brigade in their path and my Tankers hound the Aussies, chasing them in to the next hex. Luckily they are also only lightly disrupted and ready to crush some more 'roos.

In China I am shifting forces around to counter his threat to the south and also moving up more troops to hopefully take Yennen. A succesful sweep neted only several I-16c's and not any of his British Spitfires based in and around China. I have to find those and destroy them. I am considering using PPs for the 1st Tank Division in Manchuria.....any thoughts?

He seems to be shifting his 4 Engine bombers to Koumac and La Foa, and leaving Luganville alone. I will wait and see before trying to counter strike at Noumea.

September 20th, 1942

Floyd continues to bash Adak Island, both by sea and air. It seems that I have lost any chance to destroy the 1st USMC Division, or even prolong the campaign till the winter. I can only hope to evacuate some squads and take it from there. He has been hitting me with 4 Engine bombers, including a group of Canadian Wellingtons!

Speaking of 4 Engine bombers...I am know certain that he is focusing on New Caledonia with plans to attack La Foa. I believe he has moved most of his 4 Engined monsters from Australia and may shift my more experienced TONY Sentais south. I have a few more sentais of TONYs and TOJOs arriving in a few days (including one uncrating at Rabaul). I still have one strong datai of A6M2 [27 planes & 85 Experience] at Rabaul waiting for orders, I'm not sure where to put them, so I am keeping them in reserve! If I decide to go after Noumea they will have to be core of my escort group. I am not sure if Tonys or Tojos based at Koumac would succesfully rendezvous with Sally & Helens from Luganville.

Floyd has moved 3 Infantry Brigades (including a Chindit Bge), 2 Tank Bges, and 3 Artillery Rgts (and 2 HQs) into Myitkyina. I am waiting for him to launch a deliberate attack and got stonewalled! I figure with the woods hex and decent fortification levels he should take a good number of casualties. In the bombardment attacks his base AV was 823, while mine was 493. Now taking into consideration he has been marching for three months and my defensive advantages, I dont think he will be able to get a 1:1 unless he brings in another 200 or so AV.

My carrier air groups are filling out and being rebuilt with some of the veterans of the Hiyo. Also the Zuikaku's planes which had been training with good leaders (while the Hiryu's plane were on board the Zuikaku....or was the Shokaku, oh darn it I forgot). Well anyday I want the KB with the YAMATO will be ready to sortie; although I might leave the AKAGI  behind her damage is repairing slower....but I'd have the 2 cranes...SHOKAU &ZUIKAU, the KAGA, & the HIRYU.

I am preparing for another attempt in the Kwajalein/Tarawa/Wake area. I still believe that he will try to take Wake before Halloween 1942! Therefore I have left two datai of Betty at Kwaj. I also bombarded Baker Island to test its defenses and found the 53rd US RCT there; oh well thats too much for three Naval Guard Infantry Units...it was a thought. But that means that the 40th USA Inf Division is still afloat!

I am also thinking that he is going to make a run at the Andaman Islands and have reconstitued my Surface Strike Force and set sail from Singapore. He wouldn't have bombarded it if he wasn't thinking of invading. No strikes have flown from there, so there was no reason for him to expose his forces...especially after he has 'chickened out' of his overland attack at Akyab. I am also trying to lay more mines at the Andamans, to make things more interesting.

Here are the opposing forces at Myitkyina.
I divided that darn division earlier in the game and have been unable to recombine it whenever I had wanted to.

September 21st, 1942

Look like Floyd is busy again placing mines with his subs as more have appeared at Marcus, Tarawa, and just recently cleared from Kwajalein.
IJN ASW is very frustrating. I have read they other people have tremendous success with IJA Bombers with experience 75+, but I have not been getting hits although I have several units of Sallys & Helens assigned and they are spotting several subs everyday, but getting only one hit per month. Also I spot his subs and I know how he is shuttling some Dutch subs in the Straits of Malaca, yet I am still unable to hit them! Rats!
Had a feeling his RAF Spitfires would be LRCAPing the hex NW of Canton where we both have troops, but my 30 Tojos took equal losses to his 8 Spitfires (3 each shot down).
In one of those things which keep happening to me...or so it seems.... my Bettys at Attu although ordered to only RECON Unmak Island (and today it still said recon!) launched an unescorted bombing raid and I lost 8...including all the pilots 75 experience to 88!
Neither in China, nor Australia did my Taners attack....very puzzling, being that both are well supllied and with low disruption.  I will continue to pressure down towards Perth, but I am not confident that I will be able to take it.  I am fairly sure he snuck 1 TF by men from Indai, so that means at least 1 Indian Inf Div to support the 6th Aussie Divsion, how many more will be able to sneak by? I am wondering why I am keeping a Datai of Bettys at Batavia @ 40% Naval Search (rest on Attack) if they only occasionally spot hjis TFs and have NEVER struck a TF transiting south of Java...even when they were within normal range.

The 1st Tank Division which I have spent some PPs on is marching to Yenen?
I am hoping to try and make another "go" at taking Yenen.

Seems I left out September 22nd so I'll add it here....got to love the edit key.
Swordfish torpedo the FUSO in the Adaman Islands. Bettys spot but do not strike the Allied TFs...do get an "unable to locate target" by a dozen or so Bettys.
In a strike versus Port Moresby 14 B-24's are shot down!

September 23rd, 1942

Floyd hits Koumac with a large umber of 4 engine bombers and B-25's. I waited and waited and couldnt get a two days of bad weather near New Caledonia. Some my resupply TF and its DD & PG mini SAG escort must return to Luganville and refuel. The one day of thunderstroms I had in over a week, my darn resuuply TF decided to top off  and kill 25% of their ops pts! I must now try to devise a way to rescue some fragments before all three divisions are lost!

I had hoped that with thundrstorms in the Bay of Bengal that he would have made a run at the ANdaman Islands again so I left the recently torpedoed FUSO their with the rest of the SAG (Surface Action group), but he woithdrew towards Ceylon. At least my damage only went by 1 (30/30) and I was able to lay some mines in peace. I also moved a low experience [sub 60] Sentai of TOJOs to the Andamans, hopefully if he strikes again they'll gain a bunch shooting down several Swordfishes.

September 24th, 1942

Well he pulled back near Andaman Island. Looks like he slipped in, did his damage and slipped out again. His Chinese troops crossed the river in to Myitkyina. He was lucky to only take 1100 casualties, but he was surprised to find the Fort Level @ 6. I still have the 23rd Brigade in between Myitkyina and the disputed road hex to reinforce eother position if necessary.

I was tempted to take most of the KB out, but doing some research I believe he will kwwp his American carriers in port to start October so as to begin their 10/42 upgrades. Their air groups are all reconstitued and all but the AKAGI have system damages under 5. The YAMATO will also be functional and will sortie next with the KB.

In Australia, his 2 Aussie Regiments knock the 2nd Mixed back and off the road! I was surprised at how low I was adjusted down, but wish they would've retreated next to the troops advancing down the road to Perth.

Still having trouble trying to fly troops out of Adak Island.Hopefully some of my APs  will survive today. My aircraft were succesful in flying sometroops out of Koumac, tomorrow I'll fly a bunch out of La Foa.

A very bad turn! Let me tell you when they say 1 supply hit kills 1% of your supply, its a little off. Floyd G got 10 supply hits vs Koumac and I lost over 50% of my supply! Ok now some may have been lost when he launched a bombardment attack but wow...I know I was in trouble but this is really really bad!
He hit another sub with an aerial attack! Two in two days! He sank one sub that was about top load a fragment of one of the divisions at La Foa, and now he hit the other one.

APs up at Adak Island who I thought would withdraw at FullSpeed, just sat there and got plastered! They had used aproximately 300 ops points in loading before I stopped them and canceled the load, but they still did not move. I am trying to withdraw more of the division before the island falls, and for a week I have been unable to withdraw any troops by air. Hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow with the barges.

Another large raid by 4 Engine bombers strikes Koumac and now 11 supply hits destroy virtually all of the remaining supply. In two consecutive turns 21 supply hits ddestroyed over 24000 supply points! So much for 1 hit = 1% of supply destroyed. Maybe that doesnt count for the 4 Engine bombers and it is way they are so feared! I had withdrew as many of my planes as I could from Koumac yesterday. I realized that I wouyld not be bale to mount an effective resistance to over a hundred 4 Engine Bombers as well as 3 squadrons of F$F's and a group of P-40's. I have concentrated my air power at Luganville and have 3 sentais of TONYs there to defend my self from these 4 Engine Monsters!

I was disappointed that I was unable to lift any more fragments out of Koumac, but I guess the damage he did to the airfield ruled that out. It loks like one of the subs from La Foa will make it out with a fragment of one of the divsions there, so thats another small positive.

The 1st Tank Divion continues to roll south in China and hopefully will be in postion to spearhead an attack within the week. My two over aggressive Tank Regiments stopped moving and reset to zero when a Chinese unit moved into their hex. Very frustrating they pursued against orderrs, got themselves trapped and now I cant march them out...well hopefully my infantry marching northwards will hook up with them soon.

Pieces are moving in to place for a small amphibious assault at Merauke and Thursday Island. I may launch them simultaneously or in sequence. Just a little something to keep him worried about the initiative.....even though I know I've lost most of it.

I keep pushing south towrds Perth and my Tanker Rgts and SNLF units should make contact with the lead regiment of the 6th Aussie Division tomorrow! Still contemplating a para drop on Alice Springs.

September 27th and 28th, 1942

Floyd is still bombarding on New Caledonia. I guess he is still unsure about my supply/defensive situation. Because if he was sure he would definitely have attacked last turn; perhaps he is waiting for good weather to pound the crap (carpet bomb) out of my ground troops at La Foa before attacking. In the Southern Pacific I have strengthened my hold on the New Hebrides, but as I said yesterday, all is lost on New Caledonia: basically 3 divisions, 3 baseforces, an Army HQ, 2 Naval Uard units, 4 SNLF, an Engineer Rgt and Engr Bn, and an AA Bn. Hopefully I can get another couple of subs there to sneak a few more fragments out.

At Port Moresby the new unit of TOJOs did not fly escort for my trainning A6M3's and his Kittyhawks shot down an A6M3 and a Helen. Well at least I know he still has elements of the 32nd USA Inf Division at Thursday Island. I am hoping that an Infantry Brigade and a few large Naval Guard Units will be able to take Thursday Island.

In China he has begun a strategic bombing campaign again. This has pushed me into doing the same. I had been resitant to bomb his HI & Resources in China, since most people consider this gamey, but since he's done it again...all's fair! I plan on hitting at least two of his cities in a couple of days, with thunderstorms expecting tomorrow I may hold off.

I can not believe that I am having so little success against his subs! I have several Sally, Helen, and Val units with experience ranging from 75 to 84, yet I can't buy a hit against his subs! I must have sent three ASW TFs against one of his subs and didn't get a single successful attack...each lead by at least 1 DD.

I have over 1000 mines at Wake and yet his sub slides in and out w/o an issue. He lays a few mines at Aadak Island and I've hit a couple, while I had over 1000 mines at Adak Island and he hit 1!  With a single AK...one! He never hit any mines in his many bombardment attacks...even when the destroyers bombard as well. Boy my lucks got to change....soon....doesn't it?

Chinese Mass near Canton

Floyd massed 15 Corps, a Chinese tank Rgt, and a few HQs in an attempt to breakthrough into Canton. His attacke was repulsed, but he nearly got 1:1 odds, I'll have to bombard his troops a little from the air.

September 29th, 1942

Ok, so even with the bad weather several of my attacks in Cina against Floyd's resources went off. By the way his 2 HI hits actuaslly knocked out 10 HI. Tomorrow I'll send a few against raids against Chinese Heavy Industry (HI) and then alternate between his troops, his airfield, and strategic targets. He must think I'm being a little nuts about it, but hopefully this will distract him and allow me to surround Changsha. The 1st Tank Division is nearly at Nanking as well as the tank Rgt from Ichang, so pieces are being put in position for another offensive in Central China. I'll also attack at Yenen soon to keep him guessing, and who knows I may reduce the forts again.

Things are very quiet in the Central and Southern Pacific regions. I'll send up some probing TFs to see if anything is happening. The only thing I can see is thatseveral TFs moved in Canton Island. Perhaps he realized I was contemplating an invasion there (sigint). I am also assembling the KB and may send it south to cause so racous!

In Australia I am probing his defenmses north of Alice Springs and hope to drive him back a hex or two.  Plus in the south my troops are attempting to re-establish contact with the 2nd Mixed Rgt.

Strange turn in that there was not a single Sub or ASW attack by either side!

September 30th, 1942

Floyd is getting all excited! October is coming he keeps telling me.....so I asked him, "Why does the fact that I get Irvings excite you so much?" Of course we all know he is getting all happy about the potential effects of his P-38's... Bah humbug!

The opening stage of my "strategic bombing" campaign in China went well. He thinks I went nuts, but actually two strikes didn't fly probably due to the horrible weather. I made an attack at Changsh which failled, but it will keep him focused there for a while and it was interesting to note that the fort level was only 5 there. I nYenen my attack received a 1:1 and reduced the fort level again, now to a 2! Perhaps I will be able to take Yenen by the end of October, although he has another corps about to enter the fray which will stiffen the resolve there.

I actually hit a sub with a Val on ASW from the Home Islands! But those damned subs off Derby, Broome, and Darwin are still unstruck by my 79-84 experienced IJAAF bombers.

I attacked again against the forces I had achieved a 3:1 yesterday (but they did not retreat) but they were reinforced by an Australian Infantry Division. I will commit an Infantry Division of my own tomorrow and we'll see what happens!

In China he has massed many of his units: 4 corps in the Canton hex, 6 corps now besieged in Changsha, 15 corps trying to force their way into Canton, 4 more besieged in Yenen, and another 5 which were trying to break the siege of Ichang.
I am hoping that with a few brigades and two divisions I can pressure in the area between Canton & Kweilin; relieving some of the pressure on Canton and "rescuing" my 2 overzealous Tank Regiments (they pursued once or twice - when ordered not to pursue). Then using my armor and a couple of divisions swing into Kweilin and besiege that and force him to choose between Kewilin or Changsha. Either way I win...Changsha gives me resources and HI-deprieving him of supply, and if he lets me take Kweilin, I will surround Changsha and wear it down, eventually taking it as well.

October 1, 1942

Oh My Goodness! Well if I thought my luck was going to change I was wrong. Floyd had over 100 B-24's strike Port Moresby from Australia. My chutai of TOJOs did not fly, why I don't know...they were set to 14,000ft and 90% CAP. Well,  one sentai of TONYS flew...but only 15/34, and the other senati of 24, not a single plane flew (both set @ 90% CAP). I had a unit of A6M3's set to train so iknow why they didn't fly, but I had 2 Datais of A6M2's 80% CAP 12,000ft...not a single one flew! So needless to say he pummeled the base. Over 100 Runway hits and 12 supply hits; which cost me close to 30% of my supply!
He launched a deliberate assault at Myitkyina and drop the forts one level already! I couldn't believe he only lost a few more men then me. When I got 0:1 odds against his fortified bases I typoically took over a thousand casualties....wow. I guess I'll have to move that Mixed Brigade in alot sooner then I had wanted.

The only real good news I got is that my ASW planes, a Val actually hit a US SUb!
