REVIEW AND SUMMARY TIME
My opponent is out of town for a while so now is a good time for us to take a look at the big picture and try to figure out whats going on and where this is going.

I'll call upon my statistician and assistant "June" to provide me with some info, and try to make sense of it

Thankyou June

So here we are in mid april of 42 and we have some parts of the war that are going well and some parts not so well.

Here is a general summary(we will break this down in more detail to follow):
- all allied carriers are alive and well
- some japanese carriers may have been sunk, 1 cv, 1 cvl
- Singapore and Manilla/Bataan have fallen after very solid resistance
- China seems like it is ok(i dunno)
- we seem to be winning the airwar overall
- we are not doing well in the sub war
- our aggresive SAGs have hit a rough patch lately
- we seem to have stopped all offensive action in the rabaul area, it seems like the ball is in our court
- KBs location is unknown

Lets start with the airwar
I honestly am surprised by the pic below in that I knew we were doing ok but it did not seem like we were that far ahead in planes destroyed. I have noticed that my opponent is not aggresive about trying to set up ambushs of unescorted bombers. I on the other hand learned from DOCUP to note when he makes attacks at locations with unescorted bombers and then try to create situations where i can cause some kills. Some chinese pilots have actually gotten quite a few kills as a result of one of these ambushes.

I feel like my opponent does not do enough to concentrate and focus his airpower. I think his lack of setting up situations where his bettys will be armed with torpedoes and then dominating sea lanes is a major mistake.

I am guilty of not concentrating all of my B-17s, but i feel like it puts less strain on the airfields limits to have them a little more dispersed.

Review Part 2 - Naval Warfare
I have been very aggressive with Surface action groups and have lost a lot of cruisers and a few battleships. I have been making the decision to fight surface actions with even odds, but just for the sake of fighting surface actions. Recently the Japanese have sunk 2 brit battleships and torn up some others BB's all in fairly even battles.
The issue here is that I realize I am fighting just for fightings sake and not for a higher purpose. I cannot afford to keep losing BB's when there is not a higher goal.
Here is a prime example. I want to tell you that I lost the last BB, BB Ramiles while trying to stop the invasion of Palembang which is a noble reason to die. But when I actually look at the details and the sequence of events its not true.
He invades palembang and lands. I then send my reaction force. At the same time I sight japanese BB's nearby. My Ramiles SAG arrives near Palembang and cannot enter the channel due to ship size. I head back to Batavia and he slips away. Now i send out Ramiles again hoping I may encounter more transports, but I saw his transports had left. I knew there was enemy BB's around. So we fight a fair fight against jap BBs and Ramiles is sunk while performing poorly. But did Ramiles die for a higher goal? Not really. If I am going to send in SAGs in the future if I am going to sacrifice capital ships it needs to be in pursuit of a higher goal!
here is the naval top ships sunk. so in SAG combats we have lost 3 Battleships, generally in fair fights. All have done poorly.

Part 3 Subwar
I have no statistics to back this up but it seems like the sub war is going very poorly for the allies and quite well for the japanese.
it seems the japs sink about 3 ships every 2 turns and the allies about 1 every 3 turns. I have attempted to shift subs to other locations in order to find some sweet spots and it seems like the area up by Port Arthur is a good one, but generally I'm not finding his main shipping lanes. I have wondered if his lack of aggression and lack of high tempo operations has created a situation where there is just less flow of supplies and thus less action.
Overall I need to give my opponent credit for the advantage in this area

Part 4 Regions
Dividing up the theater into several regions allows us to reduce the war to manageable chunks. Lets start by taking a look at:
West/Best Coast/Pearl Harbor/Midway/Alaska - There is absolutely no activity in this area by the Japanese other then moderate sub activity. There used to be a ton of subs but they mostly moved to Suva/Lunga. Oddly little sub activity on the West Coast.

Marshal islands/Canton area - very little activity. Im not certain but it seems like there is not a lot of intent by him to develop this area.

Solomons islands region/Guadalcanal/Rabaul - this is one of my favorite areas of operations. We have been very aggresive here and have done a good job of stymieing him here. We have kept constant pressure on Rabaul and seemingly have put him on the defensive here already. If he brought in KB and a major invasion force this could become an offensive area for him again. I must not get overconfident. He has beat up some of my surface action groups here but I have sunk a carrier here. We have solid bases at Suva and Lunga. We are working on developing more bases here and I would love to turn Shortlands into an airbase that makes Rabaul Unteneble. I still have a weak force at Cape Gloucester, I would love to hold on there and develop it. We have B-17s at Lunga that are regularly bombing Rabaul.

Regions

Ambon area

We have very solid defenses at Darwin and Ambon is fairly well defended, I would like to boost the moderate force at Makassar and develop Koepang more. This area is fairly active. I would like to choke Kendari and keep Balikpapan airfield under pressure.

Regions

Java region is heating up as he is making a major effort to take Palembang. He has landed 2 regiments and has pushed up the coast above Palembang to take the misc. bases above. We plan to hold Palembang as long as possible but I dont intend to make it a 100% effort. I want to stall to reinforce Java. B-17s are bombing his ground forces at Palembang. Hopefully it will take him some time to take Palembang.

Regional Review
Rangoon area

We have won a significant battle at Rangoon, he pushed up some RTA divisions supported by misc Japanese units to take or harass Rangoon before Singapore fell. Knowing that his good troops were at Singapore freed me up to take some risks and we were able to beat him up very badly and force him back beyond Moulmein which we just abandoned and let him retake. We gutted several of his units. Now that Singapore has fallen and freed up the units at Singapore(and bataan/PI jap units freed also) its dangerous to try to hold Rangoon, but I have a lot of strong troops up there. The last unit he has up here is the cav brigade above Rangoon. Its about to be attacked by an Australian Division.

Regional Review
China

I have a hard time know exactly what to do in China but we have had some successes. We have a few roving corps which have attacked some smaller japanese garrisons off the main axis and we have done well with that.
CHangsha is holding out and seems secure. Chushien will fall soon but it was an Alamo anyway.
