I'm still on CSME too. In the middle of a PBEM game now. It's fantastic, but it will be especially nice to get facing on the 2d and a new zoom level. Excellent stuff. And the maps are looking beautiful.

When is it out - 1.3 - by the way?

We are hoping for sometime around mid 2017, more or less.

More sneak peeks, works-in-progress. How many new features can you spot?

Image
D'oh! In the menus, forgot to list also:

[*]Tall Grass
[*]Light Jungle
[*]Dense Jungle
[*]Dry Paddy
[*]Wet Paddy
[*]Bocage
[*]Reef

Oversights since corrected. Grouped and resequenced the menu items more logically too.

Work-in-progress, right? [;)] [:'(]

In this coming version 103, will there be a beta version of this "events' editor" (allowing to change reinforcements, victory values, air support, artillery support, ...) that you mentioned in some old posts ?
Regards.

For 1.03, no. The "event editor" (in whatever form it takes) will appear in CSME 2.00, and all subsequent WWII and other games.

We're undecided yet about the CSME release schedule, but you can expect at least one new release sometime this year.

Enjoying a quiet Sunday with Alan Arvold's "Operation Kadesh", from the latest addition to his "Ode to Divided Ground" scenario pack. 2D Normal View with 3D images on Alt Counters. Toolbar icons were made a bit crisper based on earlier feedback too.

I am playing IDF vs HAL Egypt. Wish me luck! Those seem like robust defences I am facing.

Here's the new 2D Zoom-in View in its full HD glory. Work-in-progress, but getting there!

In a way, the visual is at optimal with an HD (1920x1080) display. For instance, the Toolbar with its Small size as in here fits one row. Neat, if you know them (and hot keys!) most by heart and don't need the big icons.

Here's the Alternate counters with 3D Unit Graphics on show as well. We've removed the shadows and are displaying a white outline so they'd appear more like printed on cardboard counters. Another little trick shown here: note how tanks are on larger chits, while everything else are on smaller ones. They fit much better this way, otherwise we'd might have had to scale these down a bit. An idea I borrowed from Lock'n Load's excellent Tactical board game series [:)]

Was quite a nailbiter, this scenario! By turn 15 I managed to exit my motorised reinforcements via the Exit hex, turning the tide of battle definitively on IDF's side. Before that it was quite tough going, with Egyptians doggedly dug in. Patience, and artillery, paid off, so by now it should be about mopping up during the last five turns, for a hard fought Major Victory. HAL put a decent fight here, on Cautious settings, as I wanted them to stay put rather than being too aggressive. They had excellent defence positions, after all.

The new zoom-in views bring back the "tactical" to the series, don't you think? [:)]

Sure, why not. I'll make sure the Black Unit Profiles mod support the new Zoom-in level. [:)]

nice screen, that new zoom is awesome. Berto i have suggestion dont know how hard it would be to implement or if anyone else would find it useful. can we get a setting for smaller elevation numbers, maybe hex center bottom so we can leave it on while moving units and still see most of the hex, i find myself switching it off and on when trying to sneak around[;)] out of LOS.
