Fog of War can be turned on and off from within a scenario in progress.

Not sure if it's a bug or a feature. It was present in the Storm over Europe scenario in WW I Breakthrough.

It's not great in single player, but it would be really bad if you could turn it off before making your move in multi-player.

The honor system is all well and good, but you shouldn't lead people into temptation.

[In the current version of Multiplayer, in Hotseat you seem to be locked in to whatever you started with. This shouldn't change and should also be extended to single player].

Possible Bug; or not, if all allies are neutral the Allied player cannot view the country diplomacy percentages.

When Germany conquers a country, its units are listed in Germany's Production List, but when Italy conquers a country its units are not listed in Italy's Production List. In this case, Italy has conquered Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

[Split screen c/p'd, so it looks a little weird].

The hobgoblin of little minds strikes again. These are minor, but annoying and potentially confusing to a first-time user:

Colored direction arrows (yellow in this case) indicate that you can move the selection in that direction, up or down.

Image

But on this second screen, colored direction arrows indicate that you can't click in that direction (unless there are options coming at a later stage which aren't in the game yet).

Image

In the third screen, colored direction arrows are back to indicating that you can select in that direction.

Image

In the fourth screen, colored direction arrows indicate the direction that you can select for showing text while scrolling.

As an aside, does the radio button for Right-Click Unit Action Menu actually do anything? I thought right-clicking on a unit to get a menu was the default setup.

Image

This last one is seriously confusing. We've already learned from the earlier screens that a darkened direction arrow is the inactive direction. But on the research screen it's the active direction. Nobody is going to remember that the colored arrows that meant an active option were yellow, but these colored arrows are white, so it means something else.

Emerson's hobgoblin tells us that you should only have one single convention for this kind of thing, and not mix metaphors and change horses in midstream. Please make the active direction white or yellow and the inactive direction dark.

When you conquer a country it isn't possible to buy units for it, so Italy is showing right, and I strongly suspect that the list beneath Germany's name only contains German allies, including in this instance Greece and Yugoslavia?

Dammit, I knew it made sense somehow, but I couldn't figure it out. When Iraq joined the list I figured I had it nailed as something being off, because Iraq was conquered by the UK, then liberated by the Axis - but it was Axis first so I missed the point. And now that I think real hard about it, I guess Persia was also initially Axis.

And yes, by guile and duplicity I got the other countries to join the Axis alliance.

@Phillipo at Bay
I'm sorry to repeat myself, but you should really check developer notes before posting. This was already notated in the 1.09 patch notes:
tm.asp?m=4147885

Also: tm.asp?m=4109204&mpage=2&key=

-----

However with Fog of War, after the game goes live I'd like to see FOW locked. It's either on or off for the entire game and cannot be changed. Or a pseudo iron-man mode that you can check that makes it so FOW is locked.

I have ascertained a problem with the air defence once more. The already researched level 3 is provided for none of my units, not even for the antiaircraft cannon. This barrier can be hardly intended. However, I will break off my current campaign (1939, v10009) for balance reasons, because the allied aerial beating becomes increasing painful...[;)]

Anti-Air is also used to upgrade resource to protect them from Strategic Bombers, and that goes higher.

Ok. I must have overlooked a tip to this fact anyhow. The values of ground attacks go to level 3. I thought that at least the anti-aircraft units can catch up. This could still become hairy if the allies land in France. Thanks Bill! [8D]

It's not actually listed anywhere, so you've not overlooked it. Correction: I went to add a mention in the Manual, and found it is mentioned in the Essential Guide!

The AA units would be too powerful if they could go up to 5, we've done it before and you end up with the air units being destroyed, but allowing them to go upto 2 means they can remain somewhat effective at all levels.

My Maritime Bombers have been raiding the Arctic Convoy for three years and never get any experience [:(] [it is definitely within range].

P.S. - My crappy home made icon is supposed to be a Dornier 217 dropping torpedos !

No wonder you get no experience, the angle of the torpedo drop is way to steep!

I've checked and Maritime Bombers are set to gain experience from raiding.

Are you getting a message every turn to tell you that it is raiding?

The first screen shot I did included the convoy route and the message, but it was too huge so I redid it. But yes I am getting the message.

I've been doing a decent job of only posting things that I can reproduce with the standard campaign, but in this case I thought that there was nothing I had modified that would affect this. However, maybe it is my fault, so I will get back to you later after a standard campaign test.

The torpedoes have self adjusting wings so their angle is corrected by the time they hit the water [:D]

You are right, I've just run a quick test and even after several turns of raiding, no experience appears to have been gained. Thanks for reporting it. [:)]
