I have given up totally on Civ VI, they tried to dumb it down way too much. I have gone back to Civ V.

How is this game now? Has the updates fixed some of the bigger issues? Also is steam the only way to get this game?

Well I tried messing with it, still didn't like it....

+1 I fired Civ6 up a couple of days ago and I still don't like it either. [:(]

Before Civ6 was released, I recall something similar being said about Civ5 [8|]
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

That was true before the Civ 5 expansions added back complexity.
The jury is still out on Civ 6.[;)]

Evolution is not always a plus in a game's design.

I liked a lot of CivIV but hated the stacks of doom aspect. I hated having advanced modern weapons taken out by a dozen primitives. I'd have liked having a rational stacking limitation.
Civ V going the opposite route and no stacking at all seemed extreme.

I liked playing Civ for a bit on a Nintendo DS once upon a time, but it was scaled down so much for size, that it just didn't feel like the same game. Ok only if you needed to kill an hour on a bus/train/location where a real computer wasn't a choice. I also don't think a larger tablet would help.

I'm still back at Civ V, not sure if it has any future with me though. There can be only one when it comes to games, and today, right now, if I'm going to play a 'just one more turn' type game, it's probably going to be Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I still play that game. I thought HoMM IV was good, just not as good as HoMM3. Close, but not enough to beat out HoMM3. I've got HoMM 5, but, I think they ruined it with the graphics. As a result, I have not played HoMM 6 and it is likely the same as Civ 6, just no longer as good as the ones that came before.

Actually, just about every game from the 90s can usually outperform most games since the 90s.
I love Battle Academy, but, I enjoyed Steel Panthers more. I'm very glad the Depot guys have made it function in 2017 properly.

Sometimes even the greats screw up and forget, if it isn't broke, you don't fix it.
I'm looking forward to Steel Tigers, but, I must be honest, I'm not expecting it to be as good. I will be shocked if it is better actually.

Most great games, rarely survive excessive 'tweaking'.
Wargame, 05% of the time.
Play with Barbies 05% of the time.
Play with Legos 10% of the time.
Build models 20% of the time
Shopping 60% of the time.
Exlains why I buy em more than I play em.

So you have that kind of experience? In vanilla Beyond the Sword I had 1 Infantry making successful defense of coastal city against dozen Renaissance era units attacking from the sea.

Game has mods that allows limited stacks. I have seen mentioned mods for 2 and 5 unit stacks, though I haven't used. I dropped the ball and went back to Civ4 with Caveman2Cosmos mod. Look it up, ought to have enough complexity for ya [:D]

You think? Steel Panthers 2 and Steel Panthers 3 were great games. Just look how much those have been tweaked in WinSPWW2, WinSPMBT, and SPWAW!
