Game #151 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Bavre(Allies) ---

French campaign was reasonable.
Germans went for Egypt, got Iraq, and eventually Turkey with no problems.
Had to go for Turkey, Allies were pouring in Diplo Tech, had 2-Panzers / 2-Tactical + Artillery + HQ + Fighter + Army
Barby, make a bad move. After getting Kiev, sent units North to help Smolensk attack. Dumb.

Western Allies landed in North Finland
British Carriers trained in Norway forever.

Japs took Hawaii and the usual suspects in Pacific
Japs avoided the early trigger.
Got slowed in Southern China
Took some damage, but nothing big, didn't matter.

United States left the Pacific theater completely, only got 1% hit for per turn for Hawaii.
Western Allies landed for those juicy Baltic Ports, avoided France alltogether. W
Was game over once ports grabbed, all German defenses were geared for France.

Game #152 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs Archmache (Axis) ---

Very interesting game. Both Japs and Yanks went for Subs. The Pacific action was intense. Americans wanted to take out Japan first. Massive Naval battles throughout. Majority of the cash went to the Pacific. Japan surrendered in late 1943 due to ports being snagged, and poured in ground units. The Rising Sun was broke.

In Europe, the Germans had well managed experienced units. Armies had Elite status and were blasting Russians on a regular basis. Since I was light in MMPs in this theater was forced to due suicide missions to get Panzers outta the East. Yanks would find an empty or easy port (Italy, Southern France, etc), then just send in 6+ inexperienced Corps to distract the Panzers. Yanks were cannon fodder. Patton even died (twice). Well, he believed in reincarnation, so he got his wish.

Once Japan surrender the whole fleet pestered Italy. My opponent, had many experience Tactical Planes too. He did alot of damage, but could not win based on MMPs.

Germans take out Russia
Allies take out Japan
Germans get sloppy
Army Group South completely wiped out in Turkey.
Yanks get Air supremacy

All things being equal, do you feel Germany has a chance to win when these two things happen? Or do the Allies pretty much always win in this scenario (assuming there is at least a couple years left).

To answer the question: Depends. I'd lean it's to the Germans advantage. In this particular game, my opponent surprised me with his path to Tokyo. Allies took little damage, with smart landing zones in Pacific, very fluid.

For me in Russia, was a bitch. Lost tons of units to get last Capital. I still thought I had advantage. Where I screwed up, was gett8ng lazy thinking I own. China took Eastern Russia, which hurt MMP. I was really dumb in Eastern Turkey, got old Army Group South, trapped and destroyed. Allies also beat me to level 5 Tanks and Air. Once air supremecy was lost, Gerry was toast.

Game #154 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs ThundarLizard (Allies) ---Close but no cigar. Suicided Transports into Italy in 1943 sucked. Green pieces had a big role in game. They were actually fine. One of his favorite tricks to turn tide. Lizard Alamo Castle in Russia wouldn't be broken in time before his random port seeking American Transports created beachhead.

Game #155[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs ThundarLizard (Axis) --- Lizard played the Spy & Intelligence tech with Panzers and swarmed only to targets. Japan was gonna get nuke and dumped, but Germany had Level 5 Panzers too long. Spying & Intelligence too powerful.

Game #155 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Yellowcactus (Allies) --- Didn't plan on it, but felt the pressure in the MedFront coming in late 1942. Threw a Winter curveball, went old school, Spanish Gambit. Allies went heavy to help, they paid the price.

Game #156 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs OldAHgamer (Allies) ---this game really chapped my ass. Did the Diplo Turkey conversion w/ Spanish Gambit; Japs did Central China Zero strategy. Had things under control with 1100MMPs for Gerry. Italians held all their land (except Libya/Corsica/Sicily) and what sucked, their morale wouldn't stop dropping, despite not losing any more ground. Then got Russian Winter in December 1943. The Italian buckle was show stopper. Turn it happenned Yanks only need 1 AV to grab a port and pour 10 units in. Awful. Wasn't in mood to continue despite owning Spain, Turkey, Iraq, Egypt...Italians let me down, need to quit trying despite the fun

Game #157 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs SCOLDGAMER (Allies) --- While on 30-day ban, took my aggression out on Russia. Germans were silky smooth, took light damage and grew magna strong. Russia folded early 1944, and plenty og MMPs held Paris.

Game #158 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs ThunderLizard (Axis) --- Put Patton in command, Operation Torch knocked out Italy and held position in Greece/Albania. Much needed as this top player ThunderLizard, had Russia on the ropes. Juntas had India cornered. Naval/Air fights near the Gulf.

Game #159 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs OldAHgamer (Allies) --- Axis went the conventional route in this game with Germany. Opponent in Russia did good job making the invaders pay for major gains. Did get Stalingrad to Persia. Took too much damage at Kursk '43 and gates of Moscow '44. Russia usually gets first good weather turn in Spring, he took advantage exchanging Tanks and killing *key HQ in middle of major campaign in Stalingrad. Germans were gonna fall 1945 without help. Problem was Japan, their central strategy passive failed to get any punch. Wanted to counter-punch, but waited too long. Had major sea battle late, had to gamble. Got spotted in Philippian Sea, and lost Carriers. Japs were worthless this game against methodical opponent. well done by OldAHgamer.

Game #160 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs SCOLDGAMER (Axis) --- Axis were doing quite well in Russia in 1942. until they made a fateful move. Patton was recruited early & had plans for Sicily invasion. Germans decided to take Vichy France turn before. This allowed Patton to switch plans, land in Southern France / Northwest Italy. Took 2 free ports in France then grabbed solid hold in Italy. opponent shouldn't have done VF.

Game #161 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs Arikogut(Axis) --- Juntas took Hawaii, thrashed USN, added some impressive sub tech. With extra expenses at sea, gave the Chinese some openings on the ground. Germans did 3 pronged attack in Russia, approached gates of Moscow, drove deep into Stalingrad, Leningrad, and nearly Persia. Yanks pressed Italy/France, were halted by improve Panzers, and upgraded Luftwaffe. Western Allies stalled on Hitler's West Wall. Recognizing reduced Russian front elite units, the Reds charged with AA guns, partisans & corps. Could hardly call it an Army. Stragglers of the Red Army were able to grab back land and swarm aimlessly into Romania.

Game #162 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs ThunderLizard (Allies) --- Playing for Keeps, Too much Legend. This had to be my record game. Everything that happened went well. Germans blitzed France, was able to kill off Brits who slayed too long. This opened up Sealion. Paratroops and 1-landing craft hit Southern Shores and rolled with good weather past London. Nazi/Italian forces in Egypt heard the good news and went to the Holy Lands, Suez & eventually Iraq. The Turks were kind & smart enough to join. somehow Yugo also. Barby was slowed at Dnieper with key units battling Irish Americans. Yanks failed near Scotland. Luftwaffe and Kriesgsmarines blast RN, RAF.

Japs also had excellent game, squashing greater half of China, entered both Russia/India, trashed Pearl Harbor and other parts of Pacific.

Game #163 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Jkap(Allies) --- odd game, not sure either were into it. took awhile to get turns. Allies didn't like early attack on Low Countries. Wasn't serious game. Built some rockets and gambled on Rome defense which got taken out. Russians didnt abstract paratroops into Manchuria in 1942, found empty capital. Tough to get into this one, but i post the loss.

Game #165 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs OldAHgamer (Axis) --- Russia got ground to powder. Persia, Moscow, Stalingrad gone Spring 1943. Yanks headed Italy & Southern France in 1942 which is too early, no choice. Left Pacific empty. China sent units to Burma, not good, Japs bashed Chinamen. Didn't scratch the paint off level 3 Panzers.

Game #166 [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Bubblebox (Allies) --- worked Russia hard, Reds surrendered in 1944. Axis too powerful, minimal damage taken. Allies seen enough.

For victory, does Axis automatically win if USSR surrenders and Japan is still alive (I believe Axis have to also have Cairo too right)? Correct me if I'm wrong.

If that is correct then I guess the Allies have to either 1) Hold or take back Egypt before USSR dies, 2) kill Japan before USSR dies or 3) distract Germany with invasions enough to keep USSR alive long enough to kill Japan

It seems under no circumstances does USSR start to become powerful enough on its own to push Germany back. That only happens if tons of German forces are busy in other theatres.

I'm a little confused which side is currently more powerful (assuming strong play on both sides). While it sounds like if Germany wants to, they can defeat USSR and take Egypt, it also feels like Italy France and NEurope are tough to defend (landings can directly threaten Germany and Italy and trigger important morale events). It also sounds like Japan is tough or impossible to defend if the Allies decide to focus. What is your take on the current balance and what should be strengthened and weakened?

@Chernobyl --- depends on the skill of players. The top notch players have huge edge as Axis, for they start with momentum and don't relinquish it. Small subtle proven moves, get good mileage. In a word, efficient. When skill levels are average, Allies have the edge.

Far as "getting the win", the race to destroy Russia is always on. Hard for Axis to win by Minor conditions unless SeaLion + Spain + Turkey for huge MMPs (rare, very rare)
