Hmm. I wonder why such a focus on Crimea? Maybe letting some of his forces recover from the blizzard so limited attacks?

Soviet Turn 42 to 46

Post by Grognard1812 »

Turns 42 to 46 were mainly mud turns - no offensive activities by the Axis, as they are resting and resupplying for the upcoming expected summer offensive.

Soviet Turn 49

Post by Grognard1812 »

Turn 48 was another mud turn, no offensive activities by the Axis Armies.

Turn 49 was mud in the North Soviet weather zone but clear in the other 3 weather zones.

The Axis summer offensive has begun one month early, with a successful attack by the German Army in the Crimea, reducing the Soviet defensive perimeter around Sevastopol. Those massed pioneer and artillery attacks are very effective against high level fortifications.

Two powerful German Panzer forces supported by Infantry attack North and South of Kursk. The Northern force is comprised of 9 Panzer divisions and 4 motorized divisions. The Southern force is comprised of 7 Panzer divisions and 6 Motorized divisions. In total about 7 German Panzer Corps have been committed to this attack, the majority of the German armored force. The German units appear to have fully recovered from their loses of the previous winter Soviet counter-offensive.

Mud in all the Soviet Weather Zones and Clear in the Europe Weather Zone.

Beginning of Turn 50 in the Kursk area. Nothing slows down a German Panzer advance better than the Rasputitsa (muddy season), at least until the weather turns clear again.

Turn 51, Mud in the North and South Soviet weather zones and clear elsewhere.

The German Panzer offensive continues in the Kursk area. It appears that the majority of the German Panzer and Motorized Divisions are here (over 8 Corps) as there is little offensive activity by the Axis anywhere else on the Eastern Front (except for the Crimea).
