Post by PaxMondo »

Hey guys, great tool.  reloading some turns and get this.  what types of errors is this indicating?  Have been using the beta's and updating.  Is this due to that?

I am also unable to run tracker with the latest 1108m5 beta. Worked fine up to 1108m2 beta. I deleted all the tracker files tried to initialise from scratch and got the following error message. I am using win xp sp3.

Can you put the new dll in the tracker folder and try that iirc there are 2 different ones one with the M4 and an earlier dated one for the M5

Is this with an alternative scenario ? Looks like a value has exceeded our parameters. Can you shoot through a save to us sometime witptracker@gmail.com and if Floyd is too busy he can pass it along to me

Sorry same error with both dll files. I used the 9 may and 16 may dll files from the m5 and m4 betas. Error message is exactly the same in both cases. Starting from a new install tracker.

OK - gotta get some sleep now but can you tell me which C++ redistributable you are using the 2005 or the 2008. You can find this information in the control panel - programs section.

Not sure what's happening here but maybe these dll's were made by a different compiler version or Java has become corrupted or a pathing problem. Will try to get back to you soon once I've thought more about it and it's not the early hours of the AM[;)]

I seem to have both 2005 and 2008 C++ installed - with different versions ? see screenshot. note it all worked fine up to 1108m2 beta so I would be very reluctant to mess around with my C++ or java installs.
I have sent witp properties and latest save game file to witptracker@gmail.com.

Yeah don't mess around with it. Just checking to see what you had as a guy yesterday had an error with only the 2008 installed.

I guess the previous tracker install still works too ... anyway more tomorrow.

I was having the same problem. The DLL file dated 20 May fixed it.
You can find it in the attachment from Michael on 20 May. It is in post #704

I also have a problem with m5, it was fine with m3. Said there was a database mismatch, and now I have a whole list of "ship falsely reported sunk" and previous fields mssing data and having a ? instead.

RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.8 Available!

Post by CaptDave »

Hi, guys.  I have a slight problem.

I accidentally skipped a turn and then loaded the next one, leaving a gap in the records.  I know I can't load a turn I skipped, so I renamed the trackerdb files (so as not to lose them entirely) and tried to reinitialize the data base.  When I try to do a multiple turn read, though, I keep getting a message that there are no unread files in the directory.

The normal file is wpae015.pws, so following the example on the web site I renamed my archive files (normally wpae050.pws through wpae059.pws, with the last digit corresponding to the turn number) wpae015-xx.pws, where xx is the actual turn number.  Still no luck, and most of these files were created before reading the original 015 into Tracker.

It would appear I'm overlooking something, but what?  I don't need to recover all the turns since the start of the game (in fact, I've been thinking of restarting the Tracker records, anyway, just because they're taking longer and longer to load), but would at least like to get the turn I missed and a few more for continuity.

If it makes a difference, the game is the latest official release (no beta) and Tracker is the latest version without any beta dlls.

RE: Side by side errors

Post by n01487477 »

Simply put - Side-by-Side errors are about the dll not correctly connecting to the program running it (tracker);

They are cause by a number of different things:
1. You don't have the correct C++ redistributable installed (x86) - even if running 64 bit sys
2. Some corruption has occurred to that installation.(There has been some corruption of dll files)
3. Virus ... hmmm probably not.
4. The machine C++ configuration making the dll (michael) has a C++ update different from yours. Usually a windows update. (No I'm not blaming Micheal here - this is just a known cause according to the WWW)
5. Using the wrong dll associated with the Patch and hence for Tracker.

The solution in 4 long steps:
* No 1 is not necessary but would be interesting to hear your results.
** No 2 - if you have these already and still getting errors then I suggest an uninstall and reinstall of the C++ libraries
*** 2010 C++ (I don't need these to run Tracker- but included the link just in case)

1) Run As Administrator - CMD Prompt
type: sfc /scannow
Let it finish and reboot.

2) Download and Install these files:
a. Download details: Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
b. Download details: Microsoft Visual C 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
c. Download details: Microsoft Visual C 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
d. Download details: Microsoft Visual C 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
e. Download details: Microsoft Visual C 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
4) Run windows Update after (3)
3) Check Java is up to date

These are the redist I have installed

Hi CaptD,
How can the 015 file be made after the other turns ? The first turn loaded should be the earliest turn ... unless I'm reading incorrectly. Gotta go now (back later)

But you did see an "Initializing WitPTracker AE database" message when you started up the program after renaming the files, right? If not, then you didn't reinitialize the database. There are usually four trackerdb files - did you get all of them?
The normal file is wpae015.pws, so following the example on the web site I renamed my archive files (normally wpae050.pws through wpae059.pws, with the last digit corresponding to the turn number) wpae015-xx.pws, where xx is the actual turn number.  Still no luck, and most of these files were created before reading the original 015 into Tracker.

Timestamp doesn't matter - the program reads every file that has a name matching the SaveFile pattern looking for turns that haven't been loaded.

See above.

Floyd
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

OK, finally. I don't know what did it. I removed my 2008 C++ package and installed the 2005, 2008, and 2010 C++ packages. Did about 4 updates, one of them was very major. Now I seem to be able to start a new database using the m5a exe and the May 9th DLL. Thank you Floyd and Damien, I can now start my new ironman game.
