floydg: a new folder with new installation return an error at startup (out_of_bounds) in the dosbox - didn't have this one before

Yeah, I'm guessing the save file has some problems. I've seen cases where only a subset of the data is present in the save, which is causing problems.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

A nifty capability to have on the LCU screen would be to have one of the "Special" categories display paratroop capable units.

Just a thought.

Next release will have it. Also "Cavalry" displayed/searchable.

Sounds great!
As you speak of LCUs, anyway you could show units that can change there HQs?
At the moment it's impossible to find those units that a really permanently restricted for example West Coast HQ and those that are in a restricted HQ but can change there HQ.
Would be nice to have the same for air groups.

And is it possible to add a Nation filter to the Aircraft screen?

Not sure if this is the same thing and apologies if it is, but since I upgraded to the latest patch (ver m5), tracker won't run and I get the attached error message. Reinstalled Tracker ver 1.8 with the .dll file in the tracker install but this is all I get. I am running XP (on a VM on a Mac). Any suggestions I love my tracker and can't imagine living without it. :(

Andrew

I have the same issue with the AWT-EventQueue-0 error with the new Beta m5a. I have reloaded the C++ librarys, did a fresh install of Tracker 1.8 and still have the error. Tracker will not get past the DOS screen. Just wanted you to know. The previous Betas worked fine btw.

I think checking to see if Tracker worked or not should be part of the Beta test process before releasing any more Betas [:)]

This happens when there are no air groups read in... Can you try an experiment and initialze a fresh database (in a different WitPTracker installation folder, if you'd like) with the save file and see if you get the same error?

Since I'm not using the latest beta, I can't reproduce all of these problems... [;)]

That is what I meant when I said a fresh install of Tracker 1.8. New folder, new database, etc. [:)]  Still have the same issue and error message.

Edit:
Did some more testing using a save game file from a previos time in the game (before the new beta was used). Still get the same error, so it does not look like it is a save game file issue.

I guess there is some issue with the new beta and the DLL that comes with it, and WitPTracker. Some people seem to have gotten it to work, and I don't know what the magic formula is.

Maybe you can only use the DLL with WitPTracker that actually wrote the save. Can you try saving a turn with the new beta/DLL and then use a fresh database with that save and see if that works?

Just grasping here - wanna get everyone back up and running, but I'm flying blind...

I can do the Nation filter (easy), but what's the trick to determining which units can change their HQ? I can guess, but I usually get it wrong... [;)]

Well determining which units can change their HQ helps you to see what a player can use from those restricted areas, it's annoying to search all those units for the one that you can push into action.
Although I must admit that the player could do this onces and just add something to the Notes row on the LCU screen.

OK - but in XP the update for the C++ Libraries is not automatic (and sometimes with other OS's too). So you need to download those other updates manually

As per suggestion from michaelm I have got tracker working now with 1108m5 beta.

Installed 2 recent microsoft updates to c++ libraries kb2467175 and kb 2467174. see details on link

Installed 2 recent microsoft updates. And KB2467173 too. Rebooted.
Runned Tracker 1.8.
Starting save is from 1108m3 - loaded (initialized) succesfully.
Next save is from 1108m5 - load stops at stage "Compare Bases". Progress bar frozed at middle, no messages in DOS screen. Waited 5 minutes - nothing [:(]

When did you use the old dll and when did you use the new dll. The M3 uses the old, the M5+ uses the new dll ..

Of course this might not be the issue, as there might be something else changing - but I'd like a reply to narrow down what's going on.

Thanks

I used M5 - 09.05.2011 dll

EDIT: Tried M6 DLL (21.05.2011) - it works

OK - but my concern is that it should be a save done under M3 should use the old dll and the saves after M5 should use the new one...

Thanks again.

[edit] just noticed Micheal said that the M6 does both ... check the M6 dll for details

After installing both new c++ redistributables, adding new pwsdll to the folder - it works again! Thank you very much! I thought I have to live without this magnificent tool, but with your support it's fine again

Just please make it load in less than 200 seconds :D (j/k)
obey the fist!

I understand the use of it, but I was looking for a reliable algorithm to actually show it.
