I just installed the latest version of tracker (1.8) and encountered the following message when I attempted to open the program:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
at witptracker.Engines.GetEngines(Engines.java:75)
at witptracker.InMemoryDB.LoadStartupTables(InMemoryDB.java:154)
atwitptracker.Main.main(Main.java:157)
Can anyone tell me what this means?
I have installed the latest version of java (from the link on the tracker website).
I am not sure if I have installed the Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 program. I downloaded it from the tracker website, but when I went to install it, nothing much seemed to happen. I got the license agreement window, clicked "yes" to begin installation, but nothing seemed to happen after that. I got an installation in progress window, but the progress bar remained blank, then just disappeared.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did some more testing on the AWI error. It looks like something in the Tracker database got messed up. I had a version of Tracker that was working (with a different game). I deleted all the data files from the working Tracker dir and copied all the DB files from the non-working Tracker folder to the working Tracker folder. Still had the same error. Deleted all the DBs and copied back the original DBs and everything worked fine again.
So it looks like the fixes presented here will work, but you will lose all your past history. Anoying to say he least, but such is the case when playing around with beta versions lol.
Edit:
I have a 1.6 version of Tracker that I had for an old game I abandoned so I thought I would try that. It worked fine with the new beta, lol. Upgraded just the jar file of Tracker to 1.8 and it no longer worked. Have no idea of why, but thought I would pass it along.
It did upgrade the database from 1.6 to 1.8 so it sure looks like the Tracker database (1.8) has some issue with the new beta.

Is this when initializing a new Tracker DB ? Is it a small scenario ? Is this a pre-first turn save?ORIGINAL: pws1225

For what its worth, I'm getting the same error message as Icedawg. I am running the latest beta (ver. 1108m6) and Tracker 1.8. I also downloaded the .dll that michael posted and updated the C++ update and latest Java 32 bit version to the Tracker directory. Maybe I'm missing something, but I think I've covered all the bases.

It was with an existing GC game that is currently in Jan '42. Japan vs. Allied AI. I haven't tried initializing for a new game.

Looks like it can't find the engine in the database. I assume nothing changed in the save file - are you using the latest DLL (the one Michael posted in the beta thread)?

I have the Beta in a separate directory, an entire copy of my original installation, to run my AI games separate from PBEM (which is still the last Official Patch).
I C&P'ed Tracker to the new directory structure.
I then try to get Tracker to run a Turn from an AI game that is 5 Feb 42 (the Tracker for the PBEM was still in Dec 41).
I get this message:
Error comparing bases (COMPAREBASE_UNEQUALSIZE)
and it bogs down with comparing Ships (looks like an infinite loop in the command.exe window).
I have run the dll provided by michael's link. I have tried the other approaches mentioned in the Tracker instructions and website. BTW, whenever I go to read Multiple Turns, no matter the install, Tracker seems to not identify files or repeatedly insists there are no unloaded Turns and other such Oops messages.
Any help or corrections would be vastly appreciated.
Thank you,
HH
