Hi,
still got problems running the tracker with the Beta m5/6

I´ve sent an eMail with my problems to witptracker@gmail.com

Thanks for your Support

And I responded... [:D]
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Did some more testing on the AWI error. It looks like something in the Tracker database got messed up. I had a version of Tracker that was working (with a different game). I deleted all the data files from the working Tracker dir and copied all the DB files from the non-working Tracker folder to the working Tracker folder. Still had the same error. Deleted all the DBs and copied back the original DBs and everything worked fine again.

So it looks like the fixes presented here will work, but you will lose all your past history. Anoying to say he least, but such is the case when playing around with beta versions lol.

Edit:
I have a 1.6 version of Tracker that I had for an old game I abandoned so I thought I would try that. It worked fine with the new beta, lol. Upgraded just the jar file of Tracker to 1.8 and it no longer worked. Have no idea of why, but thought I would pass it along.

It did upgrade the database from 1.6 to 1.8 so it sure looks like the Tracker database (1.8) has some issue with the new beta.

I just installed the latest version of tracker (1.8) and encountered the following message when I attempted to open the program:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException

at witptracker.Engines.GetEngines(Engines.java:75)
at witptracker.InMemoryDB.LoadStartupTables(InMemoryDB.java:154)
atwitptracker.Main.main(Main.java:157)

Can anyone tell me what this means?

I have installed the latest version of java (from the link on the tracker website).

I am not sure if I have installed the Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 program. I downloaded it from the tracker website, but when I went to install it, nothing much seemed to happen. I got the license agreement window, clicked "yes" to begin installation, but nothing seemed to happen after that. I got an installation in progress window, but the progress bar remained blank, then just disappeared.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like it can't find the engine in the database. I assume nothing changed in the save file - are you using the latest DLL (the one Michael posted in the beta thread)?

For what its worth, I'm getting the same error message as Icedawg. I am running the latest beta (ver. 1108m6) and Tracker 1.8. I also downloaded the .dll that michael posted and updated the C++ update and latest Java 32 bit version to the Tracker directory. Maybe I'm missing something, but I think I've covered all the bases.

Is this when initializing a new Tracker DB ? Is it a small scenario ? Is this a pre-first turn save?

Thanks

It was with an existing GC game that is currently in Jan '42. Japan vs. Allied AI. I haven't tried initializing for a new game.

Do the C++ update and Java have to be installed in the Tracker directory?

This is how I have it set up in the bat file:

C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Java\jre6\bin\java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Ok, all the reading here did not tell me. Maybe i missed it.

Is there a way to go to M6 from M3 (using tracker 1.80) without losing the actual tracker DB ?
I understand that i have to use the pwsdll.dll from beta-support-thread when i try to read the M6 turns.
The question is if i can simply add the M6 turns to the M3 database ?
I would like to keep the database and history [;)]

I have the Beta in a separate directory, an entire copy of my original installation, to run my AI games separate from PBEM (which is still the last Official Patch).

I C&P'ed Tracker to the new directory structure.

I then try to get Tracker to run a Turn from an AI game that is 5 Feb 42 (the Tracker for the PBEM was still in Dec 41).

I get this message:

Error comparing bases (COMPAREBASE_UNEQUALSIZE)

and it bogs down with comparing Ships (looks like an infinite loop in the command.exe window).

I have run the dll provided by michael's link. I have tried the other approaches mentioned in the Tracker instructions and website. BTW, whenever I go to read Multiple Turns, no matter the install, Tracker seems to not identify files or repeatedly insists there are no unloaded Turns and other such Oops messages.

Any help or corrections would be vastly appreciated.

Thank you,
HH

I believe that all of this is related to the DLL being used in WitPTracker and under which DLL the save file was saved. Each instance of an issue appears to stem from misreading the save file (missing devices cause the null pointer exception in the engine reading routine, missing turn information leads to not showing unloaded turns, COMPAREBASE error likely because no bases were read in, etc etc). I really don't think there is anything we can easily change in WitPTracker to get things to run more smoothly.

While I'd (and I assume Damian would as well) like to get everyone back up and running, there are so many variables in play right now, it's becoming very difficult to do so.

Well, thx. Appreciate it.

One thing I tried was a an overwrite from the zip to my "AI" instance, but it retained information. I find this puzzling. Shouldn't I get a clean re-install from the zip? Perhaps I need to wipe the directory's contents and reinstall to a blank slate?

IMHO, Tracker is a great tool, but no one should start messing his undies 'cuz it might not work for a particular instance. I'm glad I started using it, because it brought certain things to my attention (I'm the Allies and I need to pay attention to Resources and Oil? Yup, sure do.) and is very convenient.

But, again, IMHO, most, if not all of the info Tracker presents is available in the game. I installed it for my PBEM, essentially, so no big deal.

Please take your time to arrive at a workable solution. You're doing us a favor, after all, and I would hazard that the biggest thing concern would be for the next Official Patch, which I personally believe is going to be sooner, rather than later.

Thx once again.

Okay, so how do I do this? Do I just find the java.exe file in the java program file and copy/paste it into the tracker folder?

Yep, that's what I did and it worked up until the last beta patch. It is still working, however, with the last official release. If you haven't already do so, get the latest version of Java from the site provided in the Tracker installation forum. Then look in the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\' directory. Select the Java.exe file then copy and paste it into the Tracker directory. It's that simple.

Note that herwin refers the correct version of Java in the Tracker .bat file. I would expect that either way should work.

Good luck.

OK - so despite the fact that many of you are having problems with the beta - and we're chasing our tails with the beta ... I've decided to do some development time on something else.

TF Re-Armament.
I didn't want to read in all the ship device ammo levels so I've just made it generic.
What I've done so far is determine the :-
[*] TF rearm cost based on the largest device in the TF.
[*] Port Size needed to re-arm
[*] Port Size with NS needed to re-arm
Using the equation
For Port size 1
NavalSupport = ROUNDUP((0.2*ReArm_Cost)-3)
For Port size > 1
NavalSupport = =ROUNDUP((0.2*ReArm_Cost)-(ReArm_Level/5))
[*]Iterate though the base list and find matches - returning the closest Base
YET to be done
[*]Check for tenders + AKE's and AE's (of the correct size)
[*]Determine supplies needed

It is slow at present so I'll have to do some things to make it quicker, but IF I can't there will be the button on the bottom to calculate Individual TF's. Otherwise I'll use a pop-up to give a list of bases capable - Naval Support, range, supply, Tenders etc
