Thanks very much T. It means a lot coming from someone as ... er... discerning as you.

If it makes you miss the game, the offer of a backburner later campaign still stands...

I think the urban hex is really screwing this up. How built up was Manila in 1922?

There is not a lot happening I am afraid.

The bulk of my supply convoys out of Mare Island should sail next turn.

I have ordered the 2 AKs approaching Manila to split into individual task forces and run in at full speed to try to get some supplies through, but Manila is in no immediate danger of running out of supplies. I am very tempted to run my CLs out of Canton to raid the sea lanes to the PI, but must resist and wait for my DDs to return. Next turn, any US DDs at 1 or less system damage will cruise to Canton to join the fleet there and I will start to look for trouble again.

As Martin seems to have stopped offensive action in China I have decided to detach 1st Chinese Cav Corps. They will move North to cause trouble and hopefully stop Martin from freeing up too many forces for the Manila siege. War Plan Orange seems to be working, apart from the fact I fell back to Manila instead of the Bataan peninsula.

I seem to be taking a nice toll of Dixie's destroyers. With my reinforcements arriving in 9 days time, it will not be long before I have an advantage in light forces in the main theatre of operations.

Edit: Apologies if this blurry. It was fiddly trying to get it as big as I could with the small file size. Has Matrix changed the size allowable recently? This type of screenie used to fit with no problems.

My supply convoys are finally away from Mare Island. 40,000 tons arrived at Pearl Harbor today and another 100,000 is on the way. PH also finally reached a size 9 Port.

The first two upgraded DDs left Singapore for Canton. I'll start raiding as soon as they arrive. I'd prefer to wait for at least 6, but need to keep Martin on his toes.

Martin was lucky at Manila. He nearly lost one of his newest Battlewagons. My AKs are passing Bataan, so he know they are there. Let's hope my subs can hurt him if he comes for my transports...

12500 tons of supply are almost unloaded at Kodiak Island. They'll need another convoy to get over 20000. CA Missoula finished repairs at PH and has joined her sister in the ready force. This task force now numbers 24 ships, so I'll have to split it soon.

My AKs are discharging at Manila. Some Jap cruisers are moving towards Manila from the South.

20000 tons of supplies have arrived at Hong Kong and 2 more US DDs reached 1 sys damage at Singapore and are cruising to Canton.

Not a lot happening still. AV Jason arrived at PH to help out with aircraft support. I think it was a bit of overkill because the floatplane support is now 54. I need to move another base force out to PH but am saving up my political points to get some Marines for a landing at Wake.

I have seperated the force of ready ships at PH into a scout force and a battleline. The 2 CLs, the 6 inch CA Charleton and 8 DDs make up the scouting force. The 10 inch CAs join the battleline force.

Next turn the force of old ships sailing to the Far East should bombard Ponape.

I managed to resist sending my Cruisers from Canton out hunting again. I really want those DDs along for support...

It looks like my AKs will get to unload completely at Manila for a change. My subs at Takao report the arrival of heavy forces, but nobody attacked.

I have noticed that since I started capturing images as bitmaps using gadwin and converting them to JPEGS for posting the files are coming up too large and they blur badly when I have to resize them. If anyone has any tips I'd be grateful...

In China, it looks like Martin is about to move into the South. I will keep the Cavalry Corps moving North to cause a distraction and will move my reserve South to try to cut his forces off if they cross the river. The main target would be Canton if I was in Martin's position, to remove the US Fleet without having to move under the guns of Hong Kong.

The only thing that happened anywhere was Martin crossing into Southern China in some force. I have very little to oppose him. I'll post details of what he is up against when I see which direction he is travelling. Here are the forces he has to fight with - they are far superior to my mobile forces...

Interesting stuff. When I look at the War Plan Orange map, I am a bit confused as what to target. What is your opponent going after the most - Philippines or China?

Also, for images, could you adjust the quality of the JPEG saved downwards; some programs allow a variable quality setting, where smaller files can be made without resizing the screen capture if the quality is reduced.

Thanks for the tip. I'll fiddle with the quality and see what happens.

He is heavily invested in China and the PI. I think his plans are having to be redrawn because he cannot take Manila. His move to the South in China probably has the aim of stopping me from having a US Naval Base on Chinese soil. It's a shame Martin hasn't got the time to do an AAR, because he is the only person who knows at the moment...

Martin is totally jammed up here. It's BS, because I really do not think that Manila was enough of a concrete jungle for me to do this in 1922. I do have a lot of ammunition though, so I suppose it would be possible if he has little. I have offered a restart to Martin as this was his first game of WPO and we seem to have run into an early stall..
