Turn 30 - start

Blizzard, Jan 2/5

Soviet air-force appeared on the sky and outcome of battles fought on the ground changed. Despite improvement in combat efficiency I have to keep withdrawing if I want to keep my line intact. Out of 32 battles I lost 17 (15 retreats, 1 rout, 1 surrender)

Apart from north situation is stable - half-controlled chaos. AGN is in really serious danger of collapsing - its forward formations are threatened with encirclement and their loss will spread ripples across whole front. There is hope however - thanks to autumn fighting I still have few nice entrenched positions that I will try to use as a rally points.

Thanks to developments of past few turns I lost 1 inf div (ger) and 1 cav brig (hun).

Attrition keeps biting hard.

btw, Encircled said he won't bomb my airbases, because high efficiency of these kind of attacks suggest serious imbalance in that aspect of the game. I am really grateful.

Turn 30 - end

blizzard, Jan 2/5

Minor adjustment here and there were accompanied by few counter-attacks - out of 13 I made 8 were successful. Fortunately I managed to straighten front in AGN area so relieved units won't be pocketed next turn. (I hope)

It might be too early to say, but I start to have impression that Encircled's offensive is running out off steam. It is January, so Axis forces are almost half competent, plus my priority for winter was limiting amount of lost battles and number of my defensive wins seems to takes its toll - If Soviet loose they do it in great style, what leads to either more losses or slower advance.

Plus, it seems they drink too much vodka.[;)]

Turn 31 - start

blizzard, Jan 3/5

I think Encircled's units loose strength as fast as my, what combined with local withdrawals let me maintain relatively strong line of defence. Out of 28 Soviet attacks I lost only 11, and moreover my forces invincibility level is improving - there were 2 battles without any losses.

Unfortunately situation isn't half as good as I would like it to be - I committed practically all my troops and I will probably pay for that when spring comes.

Turn 32 - start

blizzard, Jan 4/5

Turn 31 made me confident, following one made me realised it that feeling was wishful thinking. Price was paid all over the front.

Worse situation developed in AGN area, where 3 strong divisions found themselves in precarious situation.

Out of 35 Soviet attacks I won only 11.

Turn 32 - end

Situation in the north wasn't as bad as I initially thought. Minor withdrawal, plus old forts will probably be enough for a while.

It wasn't enough for my adventurous spirit, so I decided to make big statement in the south, by pushing back few of Encircled's advancing units. Outcome was ... interesting. Panzers found themselves in exposed positions, with their supply limited by enemies zones of control. It is bad, because no petrol = problem, so I reverted to mother of all success - HQ build-up.

Overall I made 17 attacks - 10 successful.
