Hi everybody
I do play with the hexes off. The above screen is how it has always (like years) has looked on both my laptop and desk top and I assumed that was the way it is. Would someone kindly forward me some "s_tiles”.

As for the game I am about 20% of the way into the turn and Larry I have 4 small surprises (river crossings)for you when you get the turn back. Hopefully that should be tomorrow night.

I have just sent turn 12 to Larry. In the north Murmansk has fallen. This will now release 6 Inf Div's which I can now move south. Leningrad is tempting but I can also approach Moscow from the north. As Larry is defending Moscow forward of Smolensk this approach will turn his line. As soon as I can turn a fixed line it gives me the ability to destroy Larry’s forces in detail. Did not Napoleon defeat the Russian army at Smolensk?

In the south I now have 6 river crossings of the South Big river. As can be seen from my “side of the hill” there is nothing between me and the Dnepr river in the centre. On my flanks there are only 2 units on my northern flank and 6 on my southern flank. I have not looked at Larry’s picture so I could be in for a surprise.

Operation Shield was to be the invasion of the Crimean Peninsula. But with no supply that is off the cards now.

If someone can give a tip on how Larry posts all this loss in one sheet I will do the same.
John
PS
thanks for the tip on the titles. It looks a lot better now. Pictures are following

I've received turn 12 from Field Marshall Fogger and I've watched his moves. He railed some Panzers south and moved some infantry
north and there was some Axis success in the north just south of Murmansk in that my blockers are being pushed backward. I've got
some engineers working on the busted bridge and I've railed in some RR engineers so maybe I can rail in some new blockers and maybe
buy enough time to build a front line there.

And here's the rest of the front lines going south. A disaster: John has jumped the river in at least four places and I'm not ready to
repell that much Axis equipment so I'm going to have to start building a new front line at the next major river to the east.

Here's how the air war is going: I'm down to my last 900 biplanes ( I-15 ) and those and the I-16's are carrying the brunt of the war so
far so I'm not surprised that there is a, like, 5 to 1 ratio of losses going on. Maybe I should re-think the early deployment of the aircraft
and pull them back to safety. But I really need to start whittling down the number of Axis fighters somehow. Maybe as a compromise I
could pull the bombers back as the air over the front lines is a bit too hot still for bombers.

Somehow I succeeded in sneaking a tank unit into John's AO and captured his port after about 4 ignore losses attacks in a row.

I did not see that coming. However as I have my forces are now over the Bug the port is not so important and the unit it will be lost to Larry in due course. (I hope)

Larry's forces in Murmansk were destroyed this turn along with 1 inf div that was covering his withdrawal along the 132x32 to 155x32 hex row. He has moved an Inf div and cav div plus some eng units to the bridge at 148x32. Unsure if he will counter attack or just defened the position. From my position it is a holding position. The action will be to the south.
