6/8/42 British CVs were reported to be in port at Batavia and I thought the KB would be in position in the morning in range of there. It didn't get far, perhaps because of the following encounter with the KB's screening force.

A resupply mission was caught short of Rabaul. I will be paying for this tomorrow.

Raiden has been trying to find open flanks so he can interrupt supply. He gets rebuffed on this occasion.

The KB was able to find some small fry though

6/9/42 Here's the butcher's bill. I can see that those B-17s are going to make things difficult.

The KB found some more small fry, mostly. It came here from the east of Borneo, leading landings at Tarakan, Samarinda, Balikpapan, Bandjermasin and also Kuching.

Finally, some of his retreating troops were running so fast they overran one of my positions.

6/10/42 The KB returned east and I took a chance that it wouldn't be intercepted by CVs or BBs and ordered everything to attack the port at Soerbaja. Pretty good little haul.

Kavieng. First mistake, I hadn't built up the port even one level. Second, no port engineers yet. Third, the ships were in cargo mode instead of amphibious so they'd been there quite a while.

6/12/42 He's landing more stuff at Nadi

I should update you on Bataan. He still holds it, but if my reports are correct he's lost about 20,000 men to starvation, disease or dispersal. The port of Manila is unusable by me because of the minefield at Bataan, which when I tried to clear it (some time ago) his CD guns put a stop to that. Perhaps they are no longer functional but I'll wait awhile to find out.

6/16/42 A couple of battles. At Uttaridit his commander appears to have a very poor sense of direction. They keep retreating into my fortifications. I'm really embarrassed for them.

6/19/42 These BBs were heading to Victoria Point to bombard it. I don't want to know what happened to the clown flying the Val who dropped his bomb from 10,000 feet.
