Axis wins initiative with a 2-2 tie, no reroll allowed. They elect to go first.

Axis Impulse #1

Weather is Fine except in N. Monsoon which has Storm.

Japan and Italy take a Naval, Germany takes a Land.

Japan moves to cover its convoys as well as moving an HQ into Rangoon. Italy moves to confront the allied fleets in the West Med and Italian Coast as well as sending some SUBs into the Bay of Biscay.

Italy activates in Biscay but is itself surprised by 3 points. 2 points are used by the CW to mitigate a possible abort result. An Italian SUB is damaged. There is no 2nd round.

Axis Impulse #1 Con't

Naval Step continued...

In the Italian Coast, the Italians find with 4 surprise. 2 are used to zero out AAA and the others to apply damage. The North Carolina BB is sunk with a saved X but failed D result. In the 2nd round, surprise is achieved by the Allies with 3. In an air combat, the German FTR3 is destroyed and the Italians abort the air combat. The CW use 2 surprise to nullify AAA. A BB and a CA are aborted. In a 3rd round, the allies find again with a lot of surprise... 6. 4 are added to Air-Air combat. The American FTR is aborted and an Italian NAV as well, but a CW NAV is cleared. A BB is aborted and a CA is damaged for Italy. In a 4th round, Italy gets surprise and avoids combat.

In the West Med, Italy activates combat and combat defaults to a surface encounter. An American CL is damaged and the other aborted. 2 Italian CAs are aborted. There is no 2nd round.

No other Naval Activations are successful.

Axis Impulse #1 Con't

There are no Strat Bombing missions done nor are there any GS missions attempted.

Rail moves by Germany move units to the Russian Front. Land moves in that direction are also undertaken to handle the problems with Partisans that exist.

Germany declares 1 attack along the Sea of Azov. Both sides bring in Ground Supports and Escorts. Both sides bombers clear through. The final result is that the hex is taken with the loss of an ARM div and attackers reorganized, while the defenders are to retreat disorganized.

Japan rebased FTR off TRS into both Truk and Rabaul. Germany rebases air into Russia.

Japan reorganizes 3 CVs in Truk. Germany does reorganizations in the South near the Crimea.

Allied Impulse #2

Western Allies take Naval Actions while China and Russia take Lands.

Naval moves are used to shore up possible areas in which Japan might seek a confrontation such as the Coral Sea and Solomons. Also, some CP lines are strengthened and escorted. There is some movement of TRS and AMPHs with escorts into the Italian Coast such that, should they make it to next impulse, they will have at least 2 possible invasions. Some air is moved on TRS into Cape St. Vincent.

The Allies find in the Italian Coast, however, lacking air cover they select a box in which no combat will be had as it is only a lone FTR. In a 2nd round, the Italians achieve surprise. They select an air combat against a fleet in the 4 box. They have 3 surprise which is used to lower AAA. 1 point gets through but fails to about the AMPH. There is no 3rd round.

The Allies activate successfully in the West Med as well with 6 surprise. A Naval Air is called and all 6 points go to increase enemy damage. Both Italian CL are destroyed and the sea is cleared of Axis units.

No other sea zones are successfully activated and the naval phase ends.

The CW commits 3 bombers to STRAT bomb Lille together with a few escorts. They are intercepted. An air combat ensues After 1 CW FTR is destroyed, the largest German FTR is aborted so that the Axis decides to abort the combat. 1 BP is lost and the factory is destroyed.

For Land Moves, the USSR moves units into position to solidify the front lines and look at some attacks next impulse. China moves a CAV Div into an empty Changsha forcing rebase of a couple of LND.

No attacks are declared.

Russia rebases some FTRs closer to the front. A stack of land units it reorganized along the Sea of Azov.

Axis Impulse #3

Weather is Fine everywhere except in the N. Monsoon where it is Rainy.

Italy takes a combined while Germany/Japan take Lands.

Italy moves a FTR to join a NAV in the 2 box in the Italian Coast. However, the Allies find with 7 surprise. 2 lower the AAA and the rest increase damage. The Italian CA is destroyed. A 2nd round goes forward with Allies having surprise again (5). Both are used to increase effecitveness of Air in attack. In the Air combat, Italy loses its FTR while the CW has a CVP abort. Italy aborts the air combat. There is no 3rd round.

The naval phase is ended.

Japan Strat Bombs Lanchow taking out 1 BP. Germans and Italians conduct a GS against Kiev. Since there is an Italian LND in addition to a few ART, there is an air combat as the Russians react with an intercept. The Italian LND clears with no losses on either side. 2 of the 3 units in Kiev were inverted.

Germany rails a couple of units into Italy and moves several units in Russia in a general pull back along its lines to create a more defensible area. Japan tries to set up an attack on Changsha, but is having major supply problems to do so.

There are several attacks declared on Partisans in Russia as well as on Kiev. An aircombat occurs over Kiev as both sides bring in Ground Support. The German Bomber is cleared while they lose an FTR and the Russians lose an LND and have the other aborted.

The 2 partisan attacks in the north are automatic. Kiev finally falls with 2 of 3 Russian units shattered.

Allied Impulse #4

All Allied powers take a land except for the CW which takes a combined and France which takes a Naval Action.
France picks up a MOT div from Syria with a TRS. CW picks up Wavell from Algeria with a NEI TRS.

CW activates in Italian Coast and find the Italian NAV and vice versa with neither achieving any surprise. An Air-Air combat ensues during which the NAV is shot down with pilot. The Italian Coast is finally cleared of Axis units.

Thus endeth the Naval portion of the impulse.

Allied Impulse #4 Con't

The CW sends 3 STRAT bombers to Paris escorted by 3 FTRs. They are intercepted by an 8 factor German FTR which is in turn, intercepted by another CW FTR. 1 FTR each is aborted and so all bombers clear. The bombing causes a 1 BP loss to Germany.

The US sends a Brazilian FTR to GS the 5 Str Italian GAR in Palermo. Russia does a GS on a MECH stack NW of Smolensk. Communist China GW Sian with an ART. Near Smolensk, 1 German FTR intervenes and is counter-intercepted in turn and air combat occurs. 1 Russian LND is cleared and another aborted while an FTR is lost.

Over Smolensk, the GS fails in all respects. Palermo is disorganized by Brazil. Sian is also a null result.

The USA moves units into ports as much as possible in Algeria and works around units in Sicily to arrange an attack on Palermo. The CW moves a MECH in Algeria to a port. Russia slips into a Partisan captured city, Novgorod, with an INF stack to recapture it, causing quite a stir amongst the Germans near Leningrad. Units take vacated hexes both north and south and look for attacks. China continues to move its CAV div further into the Japanese interior lines in China and takes another city, though it does become disorganized in doing so. The USA debarks many units into Sicily and Corsica, including McArthur.

Invasions include a MAR at Espiritu Santo in the Pacific and some joint operations in the toe of Italy. Russia declares no attacks while the Allies, aside from the attacks on Italy proper, declare on Palermo. China makes no attacks.

Shore bombardment and Ground Support is hurled at the various coastal positions along the Italian Coast. There is no realistic possibility of the Axis getting anything through to defend against said attacks as the escorts are excessive in nature.

Espiritu Santo is an automatic attack and the MAR lands unopposed. Palermo, at very high odds, is taken without issue. At the very toe of Italy, 2 invaders (a American MOT and CW div) are lost but the hex is taken. In the other hex, both attackers are lost ( a MAR and MIL) and the hex remains Italian.

The USA rebases another LND into Gibraltar from a TRS and moves a Lightening to Sicily and another to Greenland. The USSR moves an LND forward into position to be used later, perhaps. USSR reorganizes some A/C in the north and south (FTRs).

Axis Impulse #5

A roll of 10 sees Fine weather everywhere except a stormy N. Monsoon area.

All 3 Axis powers take a Land action.

Germany does a strat bombing run against Belfast. There is no effect. No GSs are done.

Germany rails another unit into Italy. As for regular movement, Japan abandons Sian in order to figure out how to deal with Chinese incursions into its controlled territory. It moves forward, north, into Burma. Germany reshuffles a along the line to make its defense stronger. It sets up to attack Novgorod in the north and stiffens resistance in the south around the CW MAR on the boot of Italy. Italy moves land units around Italy as well.

One land attack is declared on Novgorod by Germany. Otherwise, the Axis is silent.

Russia lends ground support to Novgorod. Germany cannot intercept.

In the attack, Russia loses 1 unit, a MIL, and is disorganized while the Germans suffer no losses while being disrupted.

Italy rebases an FTR further south. Germany redistributes some of its FTRs and LNDs in the East.

Germany uses an HQ to reorganize a couple of units near Novgorod. No other Axis powers use HQs.

Allied Impulse #6

USA and CW take combineds. Russia and China take Lands. France takes a Naval.

Naval moves are largely used to pick up units from Algeria for movement to the Italian Coast and area. No naval combats are activated.

Russia does some GS attempts, mostly with ART. One LCD strike 2 hexes NW of Dnepropetrovsk is done. It is intercepted and combat occurs. The Russian LND is cleared while the intercepting German is aborted. A 3 factor ART manages to miss 5 units in Smolensk. All units north of Dnepropetrovsk are flipped though. 2 4-factor ART manage to disorganize 2 of 3 units in a hex SW of Dnepropetrovsk.

Rail moves are accomplished by the CW (a MOT div in Bombay is moved to a port adjacent to Burma. Land moves involve taking space given by both Japanese (for the Communist Chinese) and Germans (in Russia proper). The Americans land McArthur on the toe of Italy and a MTN Div and an 8 factor MOT on Corsica.

Russia declares a land attack on the bend in the Dnieper River north of Dnepropetrovsk. No other attacks are envisioned. Ground support is sent for said attacks and intercepted in turn. Air combat there results in an Italian LND cleared and an German one destroyed while a Russian LND clears through.

For the attack, Russia takes the hex with the loss of a MOT div and 1/2 disorganized while the defenders are sent to the spiral.

The USA rebases a FTR from Greenland to Iceland and a bomber into Sicily. Russia reorganizes with 2 HQ in the south and 1 in the north.

Axis Impulse #7

Weather is Fine everywhere but Storm in the N. Monsoon.

Italy passes while Germany and Japan take a land.

Germany rails some units from the north part of Russia to the south. Germany moves to consolidate its defensive lines while Japan moves to adjust lines and attack a nasty partisan blocking rail lines.

Japan declares an attack against a forest ensonced partisan in northern China. The attack is automatic and the way is clear, if the turn is long enough, to retake a city that the Nationalist CAV div took earlier this turn.

Germany rebases a few A/C to better positions on the front in Russia. Japan moves a couple as well. No HQ reorgs are done.

The turn does not end as 3>2.

Allied Impulse #8

Everyone takes a land except France which takes a combined. USSR uses an OFF chit to retore all its HQs.

USSR Strat Bombs Ploesti Oil fields, unintercepted. There is no effect. GS are happening on a hex NW of Smolensk and on a forested hex a couple hexs north of Dnepropetrovsk. The latter is intercepted leading to air-air combat. The result is the Russian LND is cleared and the German FTR aborted. No units are disorganized in the whole lot.

There are no rail moves. The USA positions more units in ports in Algeria as does the CW. There is also some shuffling in England as well. Russia moves units all along the Western Front.

The only attack is a CW div invasion of New Georgia in the Solomons. it is an automatic attack.

The USA rebases a FTR-3 from Iceland to England.

USSR uses INF HQ to reorganize some A/C and ART that had been used.

Turn does not end on a 6>3.

Axis Impulse #9

Weather is Fine everywhere except for rain in the N. Monsoon.

Everyone passes except Japan which takes a Land.

Japan rails a MECH div to a vacant Shanghai. Land movement is largely to pin down the roaming Chinese Nationalist CAV div. There is general movement to the north in Burma, despite supply difficulties. There is a rebase of an aircraft to the north for use if opportunity presents itself against the CAV di.

The turn does not end on a 10>5.

Allied Impulse #10

Allies take a Land except France and the USA which take combineds.

The USA loads a MAR onto a TRS off the west coast and moves Clarke HQ from Fiji to the Tasmanian Sea. No naval combat activations are attempted.

There are no strat bombing runs done. A Nationalist Chinese ART attempts to flip some out of supply Japanese units in the mountains near Nanning. Russia uses its ART on various stacks on the front line, and puts some LNDs on a hex NW of Smolensk and on a stack in forest a couple of hexes north of Dnepropetrovsk. Germany, having a paucity of FTR for interception, does not react. The Chinese manage to disrupt the larger out of supply unit in their strike. The Russians flip 2 of 3 units in the forested hex NW of Smolensk. 2 of 3 are also disorganized along the Dneipre River line. The other ART strikes are unsuccessful, but also, only peripheral to the action.

Russia moves many units to do a couple of attacks on vulnerable German hexes, both north and south. The USA and CW move units about in Algeria to stack in better ports for pick up. Clarke debarks into Brisbane.

Chinese look at an attack on the OOS stack in the south near Nanning; however, even flipped, it is -2.444 to the die roll. Russia declares 2 attacks, 1 near Smolensk and another along the Dneipre River. An attack is done by by the Communists in China on the mountain hex east of Sian. Mao supports this attack.

Russia adds Ground Support to the hex along the Dnieper. Germany follows with its own. Russia counters. Both sides lose their LNDs so no support gets through, and the FTRs abort.

In China, near Sian, the hex is taken by China in an assault with the loss of a Sian Warlord and a INF div while Japan loses a MIL. All attackers are disorganized. Northwest of Smolensk, the hex is gained in a retreat with all attackers and defenders being disorganized and a MOT div loss. Finally, north of Dnepropetrovsk, the defenders are retreated and disorganized while the attackers take the hex with 1/2 flipped and no losses.

The USA rebases yet another Lightning to Palermo in Sicily. Zhukov reorganizes the flipped attackers from earlier in the impulse.

The turn does not end on a 9>5.

Axis Impulse #11

With a 1, the weather is Fine everywhere.

Germany takes a combined and Japan takes a land. Italy passes.

Germany moves some CAs into the Baltic 4-Box.

A Japanese ART GSs a forested hex in China just across the border from its units in French Indo-China. None are successful.

Germany rails a unit in Denmark to the Eastern front. Japan does no rail moves. It moves units around in Burma for a possible attack, and to make an attack against the roaming CAV division as well as to solidify defenses in the north. Germany covers the holes in its lines as best it can.

Japan declares a blitz attack into China from French Indochina. Additionally it declares on the Nationalist CAV div in Nanchang and an attack in Burma on a unit on the oil fields to which the CW sends an FTR in as a bomber and Japan adds HQ support. Germany declares no attacks.

The attack against Nanchang ends up being automatically successful with added Ground Support. As for the one on the border of Indochina, Japan gains the hex with 1/2 disorganized and defenders retreated and disorganized. Finally, in Burma, the hex is taken with no losses and 1/2 disrupted and defender eliminated.

No rebases or reorganizations of any substance are done.

A 1 ends the turn.
