Re: A Blazing World (4-player game)
In the midst of a heavy snowfall, the defenders of Paris braced themselves for a relentless aerial bombing attack from the German Luftwaffe. The XIX Motorized Infantry Division, Paris Militia, and the 75mm Anti-Tank Brigade stood united, determined to protect their city and its people from the imminent threat.
As the air raid sirens blared, the defenders took cover in their fortified positions, their breath visible in the frigid air. The snowfall provided a small measure of comfort, acting as a natural camouflage and reducing the visibility for the enemy aircraft. The attackers, consisting waves of BF 110c, He 111H, Ju87 B, and Ju 88A1 aircraft, approached the city, their engines roaring through the wintry sky.
The defenders knew that their anti-aircraft capabilities were limited, but they relied on their courage, training, and the hope of a miracle to guide them through this desperate situation. The snow-covered landscape added an unexpected advantage as the German aircraft struggled to accurately locate their targets in the snowy conditions.
The Luftwaffe unleashed a barrage of bombs and strafing runs, attempting to break the defenders' resolve. Buildings shook under the impact, and the sky filled with the deafening sound of explosions. However, by a twist of fate, the 75mm Anti-Tank Brigade, stationed in a crucial defensive position, miraculously suffered only minor damage. It must be fate playing a trick on the Luftwaffe!
Despite the overwhelming odds the defenders was still there and mostly intact! Can the defenders hold out until the spring? Will the BEF come to the rescue? Or will the German panzer divisions roll into the streets of Paris?

Re: A Blazing World (4-player game)
I know at first blush the results look like really bad luck. But if it's any comfort it's just below average, and not really bad, luck. Given snow and the 4 halved-TAC factors (2,2,3,2) striking, your chance of flipping any given one of the 3 ground targets was 64.16%.
The chance of flipping only 1 of the 3 was 24.7% and 0 of the 3 was 4.6%. So basically you got a below average, but not really bad luck, result. Average luck would have been if you had flipped two (44.3%) and above average if you had flipped all three (26.4%).
I know it doesn't take the sting away; especially given the 1 unit you flipped was the div & not a corps.

Re: A Blazing World (4-player game)
Thank you, Ronnie. It is a comfort knowing how bad luck it is, or not.
Although, from my perspective the luck was a bit worse than your calculation since I had previously ground struck those units with a Stuka (5 halved to three) and failed then as well, so in my mind it is three more rolls that had failed.

German, and Italian infantry forces assault Paris. ENG is activated to help create a breach into the city. One AA unit is included as well to help negate any enemy air. One Italian FTR2, and one German LND2 are added as ground support (if both clears two will be added to the attack).
France has one LND3 that can fly, on extended range, to try and add some support to Paris. One FTR2, and one FTR3, can fly escort to the bomber. Not sure how the support will be calculated for a bomber, on extended range, in winter, and experiencing AA fire. Maybe a one from the AA fire will be enough to eliminate any French ground support? Since rounding is at the end I think one point is enough, thus making flying pointless (except allowing that the French fighters might fly). Although, what do I know.
Edit: Germany has two FTR2 available.
Current odds (before air) is 71:13 +1

I forgot to mention that Japan had one attack as well. Five Japanese bombers added 9 points to the attack. The odds is close to 5:1 +1. Will Allies select blitz, or assault in China?

Re: A Blazing World (4-player game)
Funny thing is that Germany has only made four non-automatic attacks so far, and the highest attack roll for Germany has been a three- (2, 3, 1, 1 rolled)
Would have been nice to switch the ground strikes with the land combat rolls...
