RE: US & Japanese Carriers clash at Baker Island... 1000 planes destroyed in massive air to air batt
Massive battles !!
BTW, remember that LRCAP flies only to normal range, not to extended range. That is sometimes an issue.

CV's duel again around Baker Island... Massive casualties.. (IJN player comments appreciated)
Massive battles indeed and these kind of duels still continue... nearly 500 allied aircraft lost in action within past two days!!! ....Japanese got the worse end of the stick and their casualties are over 600 aircrafts!!! [:-][8|][X(][X(]
If you count all the planes... than well over 2000 planes have been destroyed in total in couple of weeks time... actually if take in count the bombardments in Lunga, Chinese air to air battles than casualty level is propably doubled or maybe even more... [&o][8|][:D] ...It has been bloody as hell!!!
The thing that I wonder is how much aircraft does the Japanese have??? [&:][&:] ...my opponent stated in the last post that he will soon have 700 Zeke's per month!!! [X(][X(] ...He seems to be good handeling the production side of things... So the question is how much punishment can he take??? ...Any veteran IJN player comments are much appreciated!!! Thank you in forehand...

I wouldnt risk a surface engagement unless you can get in and out at night. and do NOT set patrol/do not retire[;)]
Personally japan can produce hundreds of planes, more than the allies i think especially in fighters. but he's not going to have much to fly them, thats the critical jap weakness, now KB has been spent he may have trained groups ready to jusp aboard but i suspect hes done that once already.
Once baker goes i'd go fast into the marshalls before his CV's can recover imo . and closing down tarawa would be a great help.
Well it certainly is getting bloody my friend ! .. and you are doing better by far. whats the scores on the doors now ?
as ever good luck [:D]

RE: CV's duel again around Baker Island... Massive casualties.. (IJN player comments appreciated)
Okay... I guess that he can have those 700 Zeke's a month... I just need to make sure that he doesn't have any pilots left to fly them [:D]
It is intresting that committed his naval fighters... Your air battle made it to topic " This should convince any lingering doubters..." on Main WitP Forum too..[8D]. So no need to worry that people won't watch what is happening! [;)]
Loss of so many pilots will start to show, most likely...unless Japanese player has very good training program going on.

RE: CV's duel again around Baker Island... Massive casualties.. (IJN player comments appreciated)
I noticed the thread in question in the main forum.
I must agree that the CAP seems to be way too efficient.
Next turn is actually intresting... since I have put my 4E bombers on Naval strike with Naval search set to 30%... if he hasn't moved his TF's than his fleet would be on range to be struck... I'am at work so I don't know how the last turn played out.
CV vs CV battles might temporarily quiet down since I do need reorganize my fleet and replenish it.
Hopefully the Baker Island will fall so I can place some Dive bombers and Fighters there... this should happen within week or so.
I will post more when I get home and have chance to look at the latest combat replay [:)]

2 Weeks is fast imo. wasnt suggesting a reload and go strategy[;)] .. Looks like Ron has one of his old bones out for a good chewing. actaully i agree with him, but as with a lot of this game it's a work around or live with the 'feature'[:D]

CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho sunk at Makin Atoll... Japan Surrenders???!!!
I has been busy times again IRL [:)] ... I'am actually father (my daughter was born last Friday morning) now and that is someting that brings huge smile to my face [:)]
In the game wise I recieved the following email from Vorsteher after last turn...
Because I hold the result of this playing style for totally idiotic, I conclude won made cost myself this game you I some mistakes above all in the airplane production, that the victory. But well, there was much to learn.
I'am not sure how should I take this message... If I'am correct than I assume he has surredered and given up!!! [8D] ...This is yet to be confirmed!
Couple of points though...
1) Firstly it isn't he Allied side that uses CV Fleet in Death Star formation! ...Say what you will but the Japanese have this "Death Star" as own personal weapon that can't be stopped over a year so... Now that the allied CV Fleet is upgraded and planes are tougher the tide has turned... but to consider this type of playing style idiotic is well... idiotic itself [:)]
What do everyone expect... that allied plaer will throw 2 or 3 CV's againts the Japanese navy??? That is suicicidal at best... [:'(] ...ofcourse you are and I'am trying keep my naval assets secure!
Seems to me by reading far too many AAR's here that the IJN players will use the KB as their desctructive weapong and can't simply handle the fact the someone would be doing their best to destruct the KB Itself!!! So, I cannot understand why someone would complain about that... there is an old saying "...What goes around comes around..." (I did actually loose 3 CV's againts the "Deathstar KB".
I don't know what kind of damage I managed the do last turn (I spotted the the Japanese fleet at Makin Atoll and I did deciede to engage the enemy)... At least CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho has been confirmed sunk!
I don't know whether this game has now ended... if so than no hard feelings to my opponent... It actually has been pleasure to go head to head againts him...[:)] ...I guess we know the conclusion when I recieve an response from Vorsther [:)]

RE: CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho sunk at Makin Atoll... Japan Surrenders???!!!
Thanks Sardaukar... Tomorrow the sleepless nights will begin [:(][>:][:)][:D]
Well, as for this game is concerned I have been asked to for redo!!! It seems my opponent was running version 1.4 due to the fact that he had new computer installed... (I'am at version 1.6 because it seems to be most stable version at the moment)... Vorsteher states that the outcome would have been diffrent if we both hadn't had the 1.4 installment with this..???
I actually quite reluctant to do anykind of redo turns... There are couple of reasons with this...
1) I was not offered anykind of redos with the Wake Island fiasko! My fighters refused launch correctly... My CV TF's did not follow orders and such... due to the error I lost 2 CV's... 3 Elite US Divisions and lots of supporting units... and over 100 ships! [:(][:(][:@]
2) Why did the stay in the area with his KB??? He knew where I was commiting my forces... I only decieded to assault the KB due to the fact that my recon planes spotted them at Makin atoll... He could easily have retreated but did not do so... in my mind this means he wanted to contest CV power and simply got burned.
3) The death star formation wasn't used... I simply used separate CV TF that had follow orders given to them... He similar ideas so the odds are even.
4) If I grant him a redo he now knows my intensions... He knows I have spotted his fleet CV's and navy and can simply run away and live for another day or so... this is not idea of this game... I made a bold move and actually got lucky with the result.
...taking all of these in account I'am 99,99% certain that I wohn't agree to run this turn again.
This is sad since it has been hard fight and from now on the allied player can actually start to be on the offensive end of things... but what happens next time when things like this happen... another redo???... when does this end... if we don't like the results than we all can simply demand a redo... that is not the idea of Witp.
I actually do have utter most respect to my opponent... things have moved smoothly to this point in time.... it is a shame if things end up like this.
What do people reading this AAR think???

If you're still having fun playing the game, go ahead and replay the turn. I've done this with my opponents when they're whipped, since the game is only fun when it's challenging. In August '43 you're only going to get stronger, and the next encounter will be even more one-sided.
It's only a game, and should be enjoyable for both sides. Look at it as a chance to crush the KB yet again...

firstly CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! ! .. words cant describe the feeling of fatherhood ( not that i am ) but .. WOW .. great ! and several other exclamations .. i'm dead pleased for you.
I guess english isn;t his strong suit as that message was unintelligable !
UM . yeah i can understand your reluctance. has he been a bad loser in other situations ? but i agree with Blurking if your going to enjoy thr game carry on as getting a new one this far will take a LONG time ?:) [:D].
I might suspect that the 1.4 - 1.6 thing is a bit of a smokescreen as i didnt think you could play PBEM with 2 differant versions .. ???? [&:]
Yea he should have withdrawn earlier .. hid bad play imo .. and how does he expect to 'win' every naval engagement? the pendulum has swung in the allies favour at last. he's in defensive posture ( or should be) the japanese death star has a finite lifespan. does he not realise this ?
anyway .. more importantly my love and best wishes to both mother and daughter !

Nagumo didn't get a redo ... could-a used one though ...
Exact software configuration ( patch level - database mod - scenario - game switches ) for each game should always be established and agreed to by both players before game starts and not changed during the game without prior approval of both players. Was this not done !? !?

Well...I'd be bit reluctant to do restart. But it's very sportsmanlike thing to do, on the other hand. Could be either way...[:D]. But do you actually think you have *time* to play after baby ?? [:D]

Thanks for encouraging comments guys [:)] Actually I'am already feeling the "sleep" starvation [;)]
As for this game.... well to put it short It is game over.... unfortunately! [:(]
I really would have love to complete this game but this is not the case.
My opponent stated that he wants a rematch but I'am not willing to do so... I have invested way too much time with this one to even consider starting from scratch!
We both should have been running 1.6 version and we have clear houserules with this one so these aren't not good enough excuses.
I'am not too happy at the moment since I would like to have completed this game... too many hours wasted... but the dilemma with PBEM's seems to be the fact once allied get stronger these PBEM's get cancelled!!!! [:(][:(][:@] ...The Japanese fanboys don't cope too well with defensive style of things... I know it is funny to be on the offensive with overwhelming forces at the start but you should be man enough to continue with the tables turned around!!! [:-]
I don't know what to do... PBEM's are fun but seems to me that they are almost never finished. So, I haven't decieded whether to start over with someone or not... at the moment I doubt it.
Vorsteher has given me his password... but I will not look at his forces... just maybe he will continue with game allthough this is most unlikely! [:(]
...anyway thanks for everyone who bothered to read this AAR.

you are absolutly right. it's simply way too easy to kick someone's a$$ as japan in a short run with superior force. true valor comes from defending what was conquered, or coming back to fight after heavy beating. i don't know your relatinship with your opponent, but i think he's a chicken - no war ever goes the way it was planned. congratulations.
RE: CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho sunk at Makin Atoll... Japan Surrenders???!!!
Can't say I'm surprised
Your enemy had 2 PBEMs with me
both was broken by him
1st one when his miraculus attack was sub optimal at PH
2nd when I had adventage (japan) on Pacific and he claimed he is bored to play anymore (and he is bored as long as he can't win)
warning to all people - this person is unable to complete games- he plays to win only so if you break his forces he will leave
