Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Grollub

Good morning gents.

How is the north Per?

Snow melted? [8D]

The last winter was one of the harshest we've had for a long time. This summer, on the other hand, have been outstanding so far. Temps around 25-30 C for almost a month now. Tropical nights as well. [:)] The farmers don't like it however, as they have problems with water levels being too low.

Oh yes, several. The closest bathing place is just 100 meters from my parents house. My parents hometown is a seatown on the Bothnian Bay so can bathe in the sea as well. As tomorrow looks to be hot, I will probably take a ferry out to the far archipelago to sunbathe and bathe there. [:)]

Final puppy pic. This is now the only one that haven't been delivered to his/her new owner. It took a short break from chewing on my sandals (in the lower left) to allow me to take a parting pic. [:)]

Hopefully, there will be a new litter of puppies two years from now.

Nice! [:)]

Please make some picture of the nature if you go there (I am curious to see how the northern seaside beach looks like)...

Ok, I will take some pics if I go there.

The pic below shows quite well what a normal beach looks like. Most of the islands are low and sandy. Vegetation is mostly pine heaths. There are many small beaches that you can find and use just for yourself. However, this pic is taken very close to the (only) restaurant on one of the largest islands, so there are more boats and people than usual.Image

BTW, what is the water temperature (you already wrote that air temperatures are pretty high)?

Water temperatures is quite another story ... [:'(]

The long and harsh winter caused the ice to melt later than usual, just in the beginning of May. I'd guess water temp is absolutely no higher than 17-18 C, probably colder. If you'd find a secluded inlet with winds blowing towards land, it might get up to 20 C.

For this reason, the "real" bathing season up here is usually in late july, early august somewhere.

That's what I expected...

BTW, be brave and just jump in (17-18 C is for the true men [;)])... [:D]

At Culloden

As Billy Connolly once sai. "We might have won at Stirling Bridge but they kicked our arses at Culldoen"

Strictly speaking it was a revolt that was suppressed but it wasn't a revolt against the Englisg rule of Scotland but a revolt against the protestant rule of Britain.

Hmm...the Jacobites themselves claimed they were in the cause of the Stewarts who were deposed finally by the Glorious Revolution.

So you can argue it wasn't about Scottish independence and it's hard to make a conclusion really from the history we have.
