That depends entirely on what was there that she had to clean up. [;)]

What did she find? [X(]

I did it didn't stop the Virus. I had a nasty google redirect virus Mcafee couldn't even find it. It eventually made my internet completely freeze up. Also their website "Community" claims that Mcafee anti-virus doesn't even stop this nasty little bug. I've started using firefox my friend claims its a little better then Internet explorer. We shall see.

There are some good free AV programs out there now. Try one of those instead.

Here is what you can do:

#1
Use Mozilla FireFox and following Add-Ons:
- NoScript
- AdBlock
- Cookie Monster

#2
Get some free AntiVirus software - I reccoment AVG v9.0 Free

#3
Use additional software (I check my PC once a week weith them) like:
- Ad-Aware
- SpyBot Search & Destroy

dear thread...thank goodness i got rid of my smut stash years ago...it just wouldn't do to have your mother-in-law stumbling onto something like that...i just hope she doesn't go onto the computer...darn these software companies for putting that web-site-visit-history-thingy in there...BTW, i learned last night that old people are REALLY good at card games like bridge...talk about an arse whipping...we have watched a couple of shows together that my wife and i enjoy - True Blood and Mad Men...i'm not sure which was more disturbing - watching sweaty-vampire-speed sex scenes with mother-in-law in same room, or having her comment on Betty's "habits" while pregnant:

wife: "So Mom, did you smoke and drink while you were pregnant with me?"
mom-in-law: <silence>
wife: "Mom?"
mom-in-law: "Well, I'm trying to remember...let's see...definitely with your brothers...I think I stopped smoking with you."
me: <insert smart-ass comment here>
mom-in-law: "Oh, Kwik...you're so bad!" <laughter>
wife: <evil glare in my direction>
me: "Wow, look at the time...early day tomorrow, you know. G'night!"
Kirk Lazarus: I know who I am. I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude!

Macafee doesn't rate well with me. Our local broadband offers it free with their service and as the old adage says. "You get what you pay for" Earlier this year while securing my pseduo-Step Parent's home computer i installed Kaspersky AV/Internet suite tools and ran a full scan. "Despite" Macaffee being on the machine and running it found not one but two hidden Trojans operating on the machine and exterminated em.

I've yet to have a problem with Kaspersky though i also use Adaware and Spybot to make sure. I've heard good things about Malware Bytes but havn't tried it.
