Withdrew Aquitania today, 5 days early.

Our two light cruisers at Calcutta are scheduled to withdraw in a month or three...that means a dangerous run thru the Japanese supply line which is watched over by the mini KB.

Flying the mountain guns to Ankang before Japan closes that runway...

Does she head northwest towards Mombasa or along the coast to Bombay and the removal of some of the system damage?

I think you had good die rolls for the full speed run to Mangalore. It is unlikely you would get a whole series of them in a row for a run to Mombasa/Cape Town. For that reason I would move to Bombay and remove all the system damage first. There is no great rush to get the ship off-map, unless you fear KB making a coastal sweep. I think that is unlikely given how you have bled KB already.

If you do move NW to get out of the area before subs stake out Indian ports, you do not have to go to Mombasa first. When your TF is at the map's edge you can set it to go directly to Cape Town and it will still exit the map quickly before going the calculated distance south to CT.

Disbanding in Managalore for a turn or two...as we build up aerial search from Goa and send out some ASW patrols.

Don't you still take damage going from on map to off map base? That might make the Cape Town run more dangerous?
You don't take new system damage while between off map and on map, but you can get runaway flooding from a bad die roll. You can also get removal of some minor damage with good die rolls. I have never seen damage advance between two off-map locations, but I rarely send damaged ships further than CT.

No damage incurred off map to off map ... genesis of the cheese flank speed runs with xakl from Cape Town to US, but what happens to already severely damaged ships? Don't know, haven't paid attention.

For the most part, ships don't accumulate damage off map. Getting off map, they can accumulate damage. That said, I would not make high speed runs off map.

Not so sure about that

In my current game, the West Virginia had to keep returning to the Panama Canal because as soon as I set it off for the Eastern US (System damage 0 Major Flooding 54) it kept increasing flooding.

Got it there eventually like, but considering it was damaged at PH on the opening day of the war, getting it to the Eastern USA for Sept 1943 is a tad inconvenient

Hold again...will start the weakest unit moving out in reserve no pursuit...being bombed daily. Ankang getting bombed. Lost 5 transports flying in some jungle guns, but we got 14 there...

Need to hold at least one more day...but better would be four. [:)]

33rd Division in Australia had 200+ combat squads destroyed today.

While you are on the map damage is taken, I have yet to see damage from off map movement. But to get off and on the map, there is on map movement.

China...would like to get more of my blocking troops rotated out on the Ankang road...probably won't though as Japan is seriously bombing them...I put the weakest Corp in reserve mode and had them march out...they seem to attract a lot of bombers attention while the combat dug in troops have 4 Fatigue and 0 disruption...

Nice Job at Bundaberg! You set out to trap and destroy 33rd Division and did so in short order. [&o][:)]
If the Japanese really are withdrawing, that will be the earliest retreat of their opening wave that I have seen.

It appears your opponent is thinking too much on what he plans to do and not considering what you could do to him. That leads to too many "all in" offensive moves when there are indications to fortify in place or withdraw.

Yes, very nicely done.
A suggestion, lay minefields not actually at Townsville but the opening through the Great Barrier Reef to get to the open sea.

I have laid minefield there already...got swept after a day. I have stung Japan with quite a few mine hits, and they are pretty diligent now.

Have to keep pressuring Japan...close to 3K AV at Calcutta...some of it will move out and start pressuring northern Burma. Japan has recon on two bases so they will see us coming...

Lot easier I think to take this ground now, while Japan is still invested in Luzon/Singers/Australia/China/Ceylon. It can be a real bear to move here once China falls especially if Japan moves the IJA Tank Divisions here.

Sweeps over retreating forces in Australia score...

Still don't like my pesky op losses shipping supplies to China.
