More Chinese cross into Burma and begin to threaten Lashio. I have the other two regiments of the division, a mortar battalion, and an IJA Baseforce in Lashio behind level 6 fortifications.

October 12th, 1942
 
All in all a good turn.
Floyd placed many of his 4 Engine bombers in New Caledonia on Naval Strike hoping for an attack on the KB-light (RYUJO, SHOHO, & ZUIHO), but was disappointed when they ravaged an ASW Tf and anti-PT Boat TF (DDs & PGs) at Luganville.My TONY fighters there shot down 7 B-17E's, plus several B-24's and B-25's.  Even with the damage to my light ships Floyd was quite disgruntled; plus he mentioned he had hoped that his P-38's would've escorted at least one of the strikes as well.
In China my decision to attack Hengchow with just the 1st Tank Div and the 15th Tank Rgt while the Infantry are stalled (60 miles) is rewarded with a 2:1 and dropping the fortifications. Our attack in Yenen also drops the Forts back to zero, but takes heavy casualties. I was bummed because the sentai of TONYs, the sentai of Lilys, nor the majority of the Sentai of Helens did not strike at Yenen. I just missed a 2:1 there and I wonder if this may have been the difference! Rat Fatrs! Now I will have to rest my troops for a couple of days as several divisions have high disruptions (50+).
My forces in Northern Australia attacked again and once more forced the retreat of many Allied troops from the Charter Towers-Darwin-Alice Springs crossroads. Even the recently arrived 7th Aussie Infantry Division was tossed out and now all that remains is a single Aussie Infantry Brigade. I will chase them out tomorrow and then send some Tank Regiments racing towards Alice Springs! I have kept the 2nd PARA Rgt at Darwin prepping for Alice Springs, so once more I will try to use my airborne forces ... hopefully with more succes then in the past.
The KB has based itself at Kwaj and is in a good position if Floyd decides to make a run at Wake. If not I will begin preparing for my own operation in the Southern Pacific. I wonder how much of the 24th Inf Div, if any is left on Wallis Island? Perhaps I can take that back...ah irony!

October 13th, 1942
 
Aparently I screwed up in ordering strikes from Haiphong, becuse one sentai of Sally's flew unescorted to Kunming, but luckily only 2 were shot down by Allied CAP. The other units attacked Wuchow, causing 3 resource hits, but also downing 7 defending Sptfires. My CAP [LRCAP]  made life a little exciting for his bombers over Hengchow, but did not score many hits.
My Attack at Hengchow has also reduced his fortifications to 1! Its amazing what you can do when you actually use your brain for a little strategy instead of just trying to bash the Chinese up!
 
My Air Field attacks at Dacca was disappointing. In the first I lost 9 Tony's in air-ro-air, while only downing 12 Allied fighters; I had an over 2:1 advantage in numbers  plus all my planes were TONYs when a third of the Allied planes were Hurricanes. Also I didnt destroy any Wellingtons on the ground! In the 2nd attack my A6M2's got handled but we did destroy a few Wellingtons on the ground.
 
In Australia my forces have smashed his defenses north of Alice Springs and caused more units to retreat towards Chater Towers!

the battle for la-foa could be deceisive for you - he stacked 3 divisions there, while noumea seems to be empty. Anoyher landing directly at noumea - and you should be able to get victory you didn't acheived after singapore fall.
Try to fly 2-3 recons on it at next turn.

edit - 4 allied divs and rct at la foa while noumea completely empty. Forget about oz for a month, crush this and then you will be able to capture even sydney. Do you have para's in the area? If not deliver them asap, by fast destroyers.

I have basically given New Caledonia up for dead unless something major changes. I do not believe that Noumea is empty. My last estimate (yesterday) was over 50000 troops and 100+guns. I am betting then in addition to several baseforces, he has an RCT stationed there. Two months ago I sank several AKs ferrying troops in and when other ships were rescuing that RCT I saw its #. I have yet to see that RCT at La Foa.
He has nearly 200 4 Engine bombers stationed at New Calkedonia, plus 3 squadrons of SBDs and the Lexongton's torpedo bomber squardon at La Foa. He also has a large (48 plane) group of B-25s stationed there, plus three squadrons of F4F's, and his new P-38Gs. I do not control the skies there and do not believe I can pull of a succesful landing there. His PT Boats have scared off too many sirface ships and have even sunk a few destroyers. I am sure they would disrupt any landing attempt long enough for his air power to destroy any invasion force.
I am currently planning an operation to force him to withdraw some troops. If that operation is succesful then my next move would be to resupply my troops on New Caledonia and withdraw most of them. Now if he were to leave me the opportunity and I was able to take Noumea I would love it, but I dont see one currently.

hm, very strange - picture, you posted above shows there is no LCU in noumea. As you have troops in adjanced hex - they should at least spot em, if they exist.
Still - try several recon missions for noumea - then in operation report you will see not ony numbers but exact names of LCU's he has. One recon mission discovers one LCU - so you will need several.

And were is KB? is it still in good shape? Were is american CV's?
Could you make some kind of summary - with major vessels sunk?

That was a pic from the combat report while his troops were attacking La Foa; often they are incomplete I'll post a pic from our current turn so you can see.
Recon flights over bases often do not spot enemy units; they just say-
"Ki-46-II Dinah takes recon photos of Thursday Island"

The KB currnetly consists of the KAGA, HIRYU, SHOKAKU, & ZUIKAKU. The AKAGI is repairing after upgrading, and the JUNYO is being repaired - 30 Sys damage.

Last seen the Saratoga and the Wasp were prowling off Baker Island and sunk a couple of CLs. But they were last seen running NE towards Pearl. By now I would think that the Lexington should be repaired, but its Torpedo Squadron (TBFs) are still flying missions on New Caledonia.

They are now repairing somewhere....drats!

**The reason many things say sunk turn 115 is that I lost my hard drive and had to reload the tracker at that point. So all ships already sunk, were listed as sunk on that turn even though many were sunk many turns earlier.

New Caledonia and the neighborhood.

My Recon plane was not overly successful, so all it told me was that there are 13 Allied units at Noumea.
In addition to his forces at La Foa and the USA Infantry Division & Cavalry Rgt at Koumac.

Here's the situation in China now that Hengchow has been captured. I successful fixed his attention elsewhere and was able to capture Hengchow in a weeks time from when the 15th Tank Rgt entered the hex! Moving those 4 Divisions in to Changsha made that appear to be my next major thrust, plus he was paying a good deal of attention to his own offensives around Canton as well as my progress at Yenen.

Now let's see if I can keep the momentum in China!

October 14th, 1942
HENGCHOW IS CAPTURED! Its amazing if I had been using my brain instead of just trying to bash the Chinese around I'd be in MUCH better shape in China! Oh well, live and learn! Now I have to make this victory work. I must try to isolate Changsha (although its resource centers will still produce some supply for its defenders) and then reduce its strength before trying to take it. Hopefully I can surround in less then a week and then begin pounding by air. I figure that a couple of weeks of aerial bombardment after its surround should help prepare the city for attack.
Unfortunately my forces failled again to take Yenen and again several air groups fail to fly now, but it looks like he was in better shape up there then I thought....or he just got some great rolls.
He attacked outside of Canton and was repulsed, but all things considered his casualties were fairly light-at least in comparision to my 1:1 attack. In Canton I attacked his 4 Corps and 1 HQs and achieved a 2:1; I will try again tomorrow since my forces are still in good shape. I don't think I can force him to retreat, but perhaps I can reduce his effectiveness and increase his disruption.
Looks like he is getting the idea on New Caledonia. He attacked again at La Foa and achieved a 2:1 but was dismayed by the # of casualites he took. I found this humorous cause it seems this is what is always happening to me.
He landed one USMC Raider Bn to reinforce Adak and used another USMC Para Bn took Atka Island just to the south. He's probably going to fly in a ton of Aviation Support and then use it as a fighter base, Not that he needs it because my Bettys missed his ships anyway!
B-24's thrash the 56th Brigade at Thursday Island probably causing my attack to fail. My own aerial bombardment caused a decent # of casualties and its starting disruption was in the high teens which should have been good enough; its disruption is now over 60!

Floyd makes another move West of Canton! Again the Chinese attack and again they are thrown back. All of my units here have experiences over 90 now!

October 15th, 1942

More troops(?) and supplies unload at Adak Island as it seems Floyd is finally going to finish off the remains of a once proud Japanese base. He is claiming that after he attacks the disruption of his USMC Divisions goes up higher then comparable units, and that this is slowing his advance. I believe he didnt bring enough supply to Adak thinking it would be a cake walk! I've had that happen both at Luganville and at Efate.
In Chinha my troops attack again at Canton and succeed in driving his 4 Corps + the 11th & 16th Group Army HQs out and onto that little peninsula wesat of Canton; I had thought they were not connected....oh well bad luck for him. A sentai of Tony's sweep Homan downing 5 AVG P-40's to just 2 of my own. Also I launched another Resource Attack against Wuchow and also downed 3 Spitfires and didn't lose a single plane.
With the way open to ALice Springs, the game gets me agin. One of my Tank Rgts off roads! Why do these things keep happening? If it had just moved in a straight line (as ordered) it would have styayed on the road!
At La Foa he attacks with only one unit is pleased that I suffered many more casualties.

Chinese Troops chased out of Canton!

October 16th, 1942

In China I was surprised that my Tank Division had not entered the hex west of Changsha, but I should be thnakful that it "flew" to Hengchow and that was more inportant. My two brigades keep attacking his two corps SW of Homan, but I haven't made much headway, but their disruption is only in the low 20's so I will attack again.

The I-29 sank an AK at Walllis Island. I did not spot any warships in the area so I may stay in the area; the one hit the AK scored was only a scratch...3 sys damage. I wish I would have thought of this earlier...it would have been great to raid Midway with the KB...21 F2A Buffaloes as CAP! Needless to say I believe my Zeros would have a field day in shooting them down, plus it would have been a great diversion for my Southern Pacific Adventure. Task Forces with two brigades and two Naval Guard Infantry units are approaching Tarawa, another group including two Naval Guard infantry, a SNLF unit, and the South Seas Detachment are a day out of Truk.

A group of P-38's escort several B-25s against shipping at Luganville; 2 P-38s and 2 B-25's are shot down!

I Love APD-36!  in two separate ASW attacks APD-36 scores two direct hits (each) against two different American Subs off the coast of Honshu!
Continued sweeps by my TONYs at Chengting down another 4 AVG P-40E's over Homan for just 1 IJA fighter.
South West of Homan I forced one of the Chinese Corps there and a HQ unit to retreat.
In the Aleutians my BETTYs did minimal damge to a TF, torpedoing a few destroyers and an empty Ak; Floyd was still uposet. I told him thjat at least he got the AK in and unloaded before it got hit. I guess he expected not to lose any ships up there. I cant believe he didn't move (flown in) any Aviation support to Atka and based some fighters there. But his forces do take Adak Island this turn and only a small amount of the 7th Infantry Division remains there....doomed to die for the Emperor.
I tried another attack on the Road to Perth and it failed, missing a 1:1 by 16 points! Looks like I will have to withdraw back up the road. I may sit there for a few days to see if my disruption recovers enough, but I doubt it.
Floyd continues to pound away at New Caledonia. My forces there have maybe a week.
I need to move quickly in the South Pacific before all those divisions are free

The Deliberate Attack at La Foa destroys the 17th Army HQ.
Only his timidity has kept me here this long. I nour conversations I told him that I suspected that he wouldn't attack if his Disruption reached 20 and he confirmed my suspicsions. So like I good friend I told him that he should really press the advantage. That if he gets a 2:1 or even a 1:1 and his disruption is in the 20's you should attack again, especially against surrounded or isolated troops.
