As usual, Love the pictures! [:)]

About China I might have an idea why he is doing what he is? Could he intentionally be killing off troops to help with supply? Even with the Burma road open there won´t be enough supply. But killing of a bunch of corps could pehaps help with the supply situation? That being said I have no clue why he attacked Nanyang. Attacking with Chinese doesn´t work to well.. He should have retreated to the forrested hex and forced you to attack instead.

Palembang is bad news indeed. I think you need to keep up pressure there to suppress the forts and stop recovering. I can´t really understand why Torsten would be asking for a months cease fire in exchange for withdrawal. Didn´t sound like the agreement you had. Good thing you declined. Are you bombing his troops from the air?

The China situation was a mistake I believe. I don't think he realized I would be able to trap him by letting him moving into that hex and then coming in behind. Also, I think he thought his 200k troops would make it out against what I had there, but i reinforced very quickly. It's quite a coup for me, but it will mainly force him to retreat to good defensive ground. As I do kill off all of those troops barring a major push from unknown forces somewhere to Nanyang, they will still respawn causing many mouths to feed in Chungking with reduced experience and moral.

I'm looking at Palembang as an experiment at this point. Can I get it later with minor damage even though the siege is long and he has many troops there? The other side is that I have to utilizer this vacancy in other parts of the DEI like Java and Timor. Still leery of CVs popping in though.

I find that the Sonja is a bad plane, maybe a notch better then the useless Ida. Are you finding different results?
JocMeister might be right, I am surprised to see his troop in open clear hexes. Are you bombing the crap out of them?
If all of this it true, what will be the effects down the road? Will the Chinese suddenly have a ton of troops coming down from the north? Starting to sound like Korea.

The Sonia has been kicking some butt against fields in China. A 27 plane group was consistently getting 35-40 hits on a small field plus a good amount of supply hits. Nemo once said that the Sonia is the perfect fighter for China as it uses less supply, is cheap, and has 4 bombs, so hits more often than other 1Es. I would not go that far. I like the 2Es once I can get them, but it'll be a while before all groups are changed out. In the meantime, I'll try to keep these hitting the stuff they're best at hitting; airfields.

Once Singapore is finished, this could price a dangerous strategy, unless he is only stalling and planning to pull back once I have more troops.

DEI: I brought two SNLF units to Palembang to shore up the forces there in the hope of another DA soon. This will bring the AV up to around 1050-1100. They were a bit messed up by the landing but hopefully will bounce back soon.

Ambon was hit hard by Bettys from Kendari. It looks like he has about 6k troops here in 6 units. That looks like a speed bump in the making. Recon shows Dili unoccupied and Koepang also built slightly. I'll go for Dili soon and build a forward air base there before taking on either fort.

CHINA: Another good attack at Nanyang. 500 more infantry gone from the KMT hordes. We might have to slow down now as fatigue is building to the 70s.

BURMA: Near Rangoon a few flights attack Allied ships. Nothing major. Torps should be available from Bangkok tomorrow.

MALAYA: All elements are in place, so the push to Singapore will begin tomorrow. I'll be bringing 2 regiments, two engineer units, and 6 divisions with arty. The HQs will stay in Johore Baru and influence the action from there.

Nice job in China. You've weathered the storm and can now push on your terms. The supply expenditure has had to have hurt the Chinese war effort.

Actually, just in the combats I've listed here since the 11th, it's around 2,750 infantry squads destroyed!!! That's a lot! [8D]

So for the war it might be more like 4k-5k. Plus I'll be knocking off at least another few thousand with this stack at Nanyang.

While there are still some healthy stacks in the center, the north should be easier than it should have been after this if all keeps going to plan.

Thanks! I'm sure there are some supply issues. But he did bring some in through Burma for sure. I haven't really started hitting fields yet to kill supply, but when that begins, it'll be tough for him to mount much resistance outside of the production bases. If I can push in the next month or two and get the oil and industry of the north, then I'll be feeling pretty good here.

DEI: Allied bombardments are still taking a toll at Palembang. Regardless, before he piles anything else in there, I have to try another DA. It will go tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

CHINA: Still chasing isolated units around the South. He's beginning to evacuate Kukong. I was going to send tanks to cut the rail out, so it's a good move.

The army is resting still at Nanyang. Tomorrow I'll DA again, then let the tanks and some smaller units finish it off as the divisions recuperate.

PI: I've decided to throw the kitchen sink at Cagayan. It's a stalemate there, and although I could just bomb it forever, I'd like to get this 400 AV of troops doing something else. So I'm sending another 500-600 AV there. I might be a week or two before it all arrives, but at least I'll know it's going down.

BURMA: Nells took out a bunch of HTML ar Rangoon, but the transports that remained look to have scurried away. We'll see if he decides to sacrifice more.

MALAYA: Troops are moving nicely to Singapore. They should shock tomorrow.

MALAYA: The crossing went well, lowering the forts to 3 and getting a 1:1 and leaving only one unit trashed. Unfortunately it's the 18th division, and its AV is down to 15! Ouch. [:(] Still, after a week's recovery the other units should be ready for another DA. He has two Indian divisions in the base, as well as the Aussie brigades for a starting AV over 1300! That's the most I've seen in the defense of Singapore.

Some arty was trying to unload at Mersing and Torsten jumped the convoy with his remaining string bags. It's not as bad as it could have been thanks to some CAP from Johore Baru. This convoy will be moved to Singora to finish unloading.

SUBS: It's reported that Pickerel hit a mine at Tsushima. That's good. It had been lurking up there before, so I put the mines in and presto, oil and debris floating on the water.

Torsten has been using subs in base hexes all through the DEI. Once more ACMs make it to the area, this may cost him as those subs will find some presents waiting for them.

DEI: At Palembang the DA went badly, achieving a 1:2 and losing a good number of troops. Not good. The AV of two divisions, a brigade and two SNLF units is down to under 800. I'll pray for a quick progress at Singapore and keep the fields suppressed.

CHINA: A shock attack at Nanyang had decent results but still hasn't broken their back. The divisions take more disablements and need serious rest. The tanks and a few brigades are still doing well and will continue the attack on their own for a while.

The last blocking unit was knocked off the rail near Hankow, so it's open down the whole line now.

PI: Troops at Cagayan are now being hit daily by Vals and Kates. This slow bleed should ripen them up for the coming attack.

BURMA: All quiet as the ships have all pulled out.

Java is empty or close to empty of troops. Looking at the list of troops at Palembang he either used a lot of transports to get those guys over or PP to allow them to be transported. I think his Dutch PBYs were busy between Batavia and Palemmbang for weeks as most of those troops are permanently restricted.

SUBS: At Mersing Shark takes 3 hits from our escorts. Two were penetrating.

DEI: Bombardment at Palembang does some real damage. Not sure what to do about this other than keep bombing the place. My troops have plenty of supply and will hold a long time, but getting 40-50 squads disabled by arty is not good. We put 15 hits on the field today by Nells from Singkawang.

CHINA: At Nanyang about 500AV of tanks and a brigade attack and just barely get a 2:1, but this is just enough to continue the pain for the KMT here.

Sonias get jumped bombing Kukong. He is moving the AVG around well. Sooner or later it might cost him once I start bombing the fields with strength.

PI: Attacks are getting better at Clark. Today several 4E and a Catalina were damaged as well. Hopefully tomorrow those will get taken out for good.

MALAYA: The troops are recovering well and AV popped up almost 100 points today at Singapore. Even the shattered 18th division almost doubled its AV. The fields have constant damage between 15-25 now and so shouldn't be able to build forts.

CHINA: The tanks did well in Nanyang again, getting a 4:1 today and killing another 140 infantry squads. No KMT troops have capitulated yet.

Near Pingsyang another group of stragglers from the Nanchang siege were caught and mauled. Another 404 infantry squads killed off here. I'll need to do a serious count soon, as this might put the totals near 5k destroyed KMT infantry squads now.

DEI: Miri was hit by 6 4E today, for a few oil points lost. The Nate CAP slowed them down but didn't hit much. I have some zeros just filled out that will not move in.

At Palembang, our troops finally battled back and gave equal losses to the Dutch in the bombardments.

BURMA: Hit the Moumein fields hard. I'm now moving the Thai units in with one regiment and a few tank units. I don't think they'll be able to even challenge for the base yet, as there are over 30k troops here. He definitely wants Burma to be a challenge. That again is a gamble if I can get some serious troops over after Singapore.

CHINA: Again the attack gets stronger at Nanyang with only a few units participating. A 6:1 today and another 118 squads destroyed. No KMT units surrendered or were destroyed yet.

A few smaller battles as well, including 3 shattered corps getting whipped again and losing another 47 squads in the East.

DEI: Units are beginning to build up at Balikpapan for the invasion of Java. I'll begin probing for some unoccupied bases. There must be a few with all of the troops in Palembang. Dili is also a minor target as it is ungarrisoned. I'll get ready to send in a 12 AV AF Coy, a 20AV Naval Guard unit, and a 15 AV engineer unit.

BURMA: I'm beginning to wonder where all of the troops here are coming from. There are around 18k in Rangoon, near 30k in Moulmein, and every major base has a good garrison up to Mandalay that I've reconned so
far. Most Indian units are permanently restricted if I remember correctly.

PACIFIC: Finchafen went to a level 2 field. I'll not move anything in there yet, but I will bring recon over soon and check out Port Moresby. I'm nearlynpositive there is a build-up there.

The AVG has done well hitting in spots in China as we bombed troops all over the map with a dearth of escorts. As the fighter groups have upgraded and filled out and as the bombers upgrade as well, a new system of bombing will commence. Concentrated raids of multiple groups, escorted and preceded by sweeps will hit airfields and troops concentrations, especially targeting any airfields hosting the US fighters. There will be few surprises left for the AVG to spring.

SUBS: At last one of the subs haunting base hexes around the DEI was given some punishment for its recklessness. The Narwhal takes 20 hits (!) from DD Ikazuchi and is listed as having 'heavy damage.' [8D]

CHINA: At Nanyang the slow attrition continues, as the attack today merits an 8:1. In addition to the 181 infantry squads added to the tally, several messages of 'unit wiped out by attrition' appeared, as well as one of 'Allied units surrounded.' It looks like 3 were destroyed today, but this way I don't get the final score as to how many troops I'm clearing off. I guess it doesn't matter as they'll be back in Chungking soon anyway.

A group army is crushed in the woods near Hankow and retreats right back on the rail West. That's fine, as a brigade will move out right away to hit it again.

Sallys raiding troops in the forest East of Sinyang got amazing results for this terrain, with 41 planes getting 52 squads disabled and 2 destroyed for 347 casualties to a Chinese corps. This gives me confidence that no matter where the KMT sets up defensive lines they can be slowly broken from the air.

DEI: No bombardment at Palembang today. That's good. I guess the poor result from yesterday made him think twice about that tactic.

A small group of 6 139WH-3 strike Balikpapan attempting to hit ships in the area and are skewered by the Oscars on CAP, losing all planes.

Koepang is hit for the first time by Bettys. It looks to have around 5k troops and 5 units. So another minor bump.

PI: At Clark the air raids are getting very consistent results with a Cat destroyed and several more damaged in addition to the decent hits on the infrastructure there.

At Manila the division moving from Antimonan has made it into the hex with one small engineer unit. Other troops from the North are now moving to join. Bombardment shows the US regiment here, which is a worry, but we should have 800 AV by the time others join in. That should be enough to push them out with air support.

BURMA: I'm beginning to wonder where all of the troops here are coming from. There are around 18k in Rangoon, near 30k in Moulmein, and every major base has a good garrison up to Mandalay that I've reconned so
far. Most Indian units are permanently restricted if I remember correctly.

He can recombine the components of the 1st Burma Division. The division needs time to rest and fill out, but can be pretty good in a good defensive hex. There is a brigade of the 17th Indian Division at Rangoon. The BFF Brigade starts near Mandalay. There are the three brigades 'at sea' at game start. So he can have over two divisions worth of troops. However, most have poor experience levels and need the combat to get to 50. There is a handful of battalions that can be based behind the front lines to discourage para drops. A Chinese Corp starts in western China that can be bought out (PP). Air attack his ground units and not the bases. They have low morale along with experience levels. There are few engineers available. So bomb a base for a few days, then switch over to the troops.

Perfect. Thanks. Will start to bomb the troops after getting the bases to 40-50 damage. I'm concentrating on Moulmein and Rangoon to begin.
