Player List

Post by aussem »

Red,

I just saw your player list and it did not include me? I have already played my first round, against Ironfist. I registered to be GE/US. I am waiting for game files from Shiner and expect to start round two shortly as the US (haven't had a go as GE yet).

WC03 Round 1 Battle result:

Sandman20 (U.S Army) 8393
Belisarius (Finland) 6615

So, I'm ready to round 2 and I'll play with Germany.

Next useless suggestion from the UK - if time is pressing to complete round 1 by 21st march, can we not play rounds 1-3 simultaneously inishing byu end may (ie when round 3 was due to end) this way things like time zones have less of an impact - after all you are only looking for players who have 2 out of 3 points - also reduces the "Man United weakened team" scenario where someone alreadyy through can be "persuaded" to advance their opponents quest for that elusive 2nd point - playing the games simultaneously will mean all have no idea of how the firs t 3 sets of games will end.

This is really a desperate plea as due mainly to time zones & no weekend play for myself I will be luckh to finish any of my 3 games in the alloted time!

Rob some of us are already playing concurrent round 2 games. As long as it's OK with red and everyone informs him of the results I don't see a problem with playing rounds 1-3 simultaneously.

I have my round 2 game but how about me and you start round 3? Seeing as we are both in the UK ...

This would be SO vs SO in 1943.

Or there are Belisarius and sandman available who are in European timezones.

Just thinking out loud ... :)

Bright idea that was - play rounds 2 and 3 simultaneously.

Well... if anyone wants to hook up, up still available for both 2nd and 3rd game. :)

Again: I'll play Germany (as Sandman got to pick sides for round 1). '42 for round 2 and '43 for round 3.

Round 1

Kanonenfutter and I have started round 1. Has anyone ever had a problem with the VCR playback feature locking up their computer? I have played dozens of PBeM games, and never had this problem before. Any ideas?

Sour Grapes, or call me a whiner!!

Post by CPT Shoe »

Why is it that I can play numerous opponents out there and never win a game (VikingNo2, I feel my luck might change this time), yet still enjoy the experience and ask to keep playing time and time again?

Yet, when the WC comes around (My first WC Experince) I feel that I am being gamed, and get such a sour taste from the ordeal that if it was regular play I would not be inclined to ever play that person again.

Are you supposed to not play for fun during the WC?

Wasn't two balanced forces going Head to Head the goal of the competition?

I have selected my forces with a mechanized mix of 4 platoons of Mobile Infantry or Engineers, and 4 platoons of Tanks (That gives me three manuever elements for 3 objectives, with one left over to exploit success, or reinforce failures). I get my standard 10% of Arty, and 4 aircraft. I get about a companies worth of recon and mix in a platoon of straight heavy infantry for my rear hexes. I might have enough points for some AAA and the platoon or two of AT guns, and a platoon of infiltrators if available.

Am I wrong for not trying to find the little quirks of what are the best killers for my nationality, like hords of bazooka's, or mobile move and fire heavy AA, or nothing but machine guns and the heaviest AT, and use them to my best advantage? Am I supposed to work the time frame, visibility, map characteristics and tweak deployment lines so that things come out in my favor?

Maybe my opponents did not do anything like this, and I am just the unluckiest, and worst player of this game, and coincidences have worked together with the aligments of the planets to work out against me. But I have enjoyed many a defeat that has not left me disgruntled.

Thanks for the vent, and pass the cheese and crackers to go with my...
People like me should scare the hell out of you. Why? Because I can get inside your head. And once there, I run around like a squirrel through a habiTrail, flipping the switches that can make you do everything from craving a Pepsi to voting Republican.

Round Three

Post by aussem »

I am yet to be setup with a round three opponent. So if you are looking for a round three skirmish I am ready to go. However, I hope to play my first choice this time (ie the Germans) as I have been the US in both round 1 and 2.

I want to play with my KATZ! :)
