Here's what the front lines look like in T25 before I've moved anybody.

Here's the front lines in the north right now and as you can see I have a chance to
outflank some Soviet units if only there were troops to pour through the hole. I
think I may have one division from the south that might be able to rail itself up
here to make that outflanking move for me. Futher south from there however, it
seems that the front lines are strting to take their semi-permanent shape. I can't
see much change from now until maybe spring. The resistance is that stiff.

This is the east side of Kiev right now. I'm surrounding a lot of Soviet units and once they are out of supply I'll
kill them. The tidal wave is flowing south along the river.

I thought I'd take a quick peek at the losses and was alarmed to find that the size of the force has shrunk about 2K squads
in size. I'm losing HRS's much faster than I'm building them and that means some muscle is coming out of the force, not
the fat. I've got to lower the number of losses each turn and that means I need to not attack quite so often. Maybe go
to a defensive mode. While I still can afford to field an army.

I went back to page 7 of the AAR for a picture of the losses back in T16 to compare them with the losses now and
see what the numbers are telling us. The number of on-hand HRS's went down over those nine turns to the tune of
about 695 squads per turn which is more than I'm making which means what we discovered in a previous post. So
I haven't got much choice....I have to go to single-dot attacks and a defensive stance except for those cases
where I need to straighten out the front line yet.

Elmer has been railing units to the northern area and the resistance has gotten stiffer. I'm just about out of magic up
here. More people would help.

Around the Orel areaa I've constructed a light screen consisting of recon units while the main body rests after the
latest mopping up done in that area. I'm thinking they will be ready in a couple of turns and the supply situation
will be better and the advance can continue to the east.

Don't you think it would be better to use all opportunities to attack and inflict damage to the Soviets while you still enjoy dry wheather than restricting yourself because of the losses? There will be plenty of time to consolidate and recover when the mud season starts. Then the "attack season" will be finished anyways. You'll only have a few precious turns till then.

Absolutely correct. That WILL help and thanks for saying so. I'm watching the
numbers assigned ( HRS's) and I'd rather it not get below about 35K because the
strength of the force depends on the numbers of HRS squads in the units and if it
gets too low they will tend to be pushovers and won't be able to stop the Soviet
units from making breakthroughs and holes in the lines. And I really need them
to be able to stop the Soviet pushes. The Soviets tend to attack using three-dot
attacks and I've seen Soviet units evaporate when attacking so I think they are
serious about making some progress.

Here's a section of the front lines to the SW of Moscow about 10 hexes ( ~10 ) and you can see that there's an epic
battle going on. The Soviets have established a pretty good front line or at least a screen and the going is slowed
down to a crawl but that's necessary anyway since the supply level isn't the best. So far so good.

This is the area around Orel right now and as you can see the Axis units are kind of sparse in parts. I'm holding them
back from the Soviet MLR for supply purposes but if I were to drive up adjacent to the Soviets there would be a rather
one-sided war going on. I'm not sure what the solution to this problem is yet. I'll probably have to break my units
down into pieces to get enough units to form a line.

This is the area to the east of Kiev and shows pending battles for the further takedown of some of the Soviet units
up against the river. They have to be cleaned out eventually so I may as well do it while I have the local advantage.

Here's the NE corner of the front lines right now. I'm still fighting over the river crossings and there's some rail
bridges on the east side of Leningrad that I need to drop to isolate Leningrad from the rest of Russia.
