Turn 7 real time

I bring up an armor unit to make sure I can get through the front line. No problem there. I also bring up my airfields with extra fighters and bombers. (My Stukas were just out of range on the air transfer in otherwise the carnage would have been much much much worse than what happened)

Turn 7 Real time

But before the attack, I do all my first Soviet airbase bombings. First, the Rumanians go in to "soften" up the Soviets with the first bombing raid done by them on each of the airbases. Then comes the Blonde hair supermen of the German Airforce.

Turn 7 Real time

After the airfield bombing the "Avenger" completes his run through the Soviet displacing the Soviet bases to be bombed again :).

Turn 7

I bring up a Cav unit to force retreat the unit to the east and I bring up a new Armor unit for the attack. I also turn on Ground support for this attack. Please Note that the Cav unit displaced the Soviet Airbase to be bombed again.

Turn 7

I move the armor up with the Cav unit. I have the Armor attack the Soviet unit to the NW to have it retreat NW. This also causes the Airbase to displace causing more planes lost.

Turn 7

I walk units forward paying attention to my movement points to either attack Kharkov directly or cut it off. My movement points dictate cut off. Also the Moto unit will finish the pocket of all units to the West(some 13+ units) by linking up with the "Avenger" and setting up a defense. Instead of doing a step by step for the mundane tasks the next snapshot will be the final place of my units.

You should tell your pilots to throw their goggles really really hard at the enemy then.

My fighter bases still have plenty of ammo and fuel though :). That is a good thing.

But then again as I contemplate this after the fact I could be in trouble.....

Turn 7

56 units destroyed this turn. The happenings on the battlefield made holding prisoners on the map any longer non-conducive. The prisoners have been moved to appropriate containment centers in what used to be known as Poland but Greater Germany now.

Turn 7

Poltava Pocket formed estimated 11 Inf Div, 5 Airborne brigades, 1 AT brigade in pocket. The pocket should collapse to 4-5 hexes wide after the supply phase.

Industry is in the Critical stage now. I also have an armor unit outside of Kaluga which will cost double the cost to move the industry if M60 wished to do so. Otherwise, he will need to make the armor retreat under Guderian.

Turn 7

Final thoughts on turn

The new supply rules are pretty rough. Yes, I know you are going to say it doesn't look like from what I have been doing. But I can tell you that a novice or Mid-level player is going to have a rough time sustaining any type of sustainable offense on the current system from what I have seen. I have done two HQ BU's one on turn 4 & one on turn 5 and it just about killed my truck pool. Not to mention the JU-52's are worthless and put them in reserve to stay. I'm doing what I am doing only because of experience.

M60 is at the critical junction now where he really can't afford to lose any more Industry imo. His unit total on the board is also at critical. Loss of any more units beyond what is encircled in the current pocket will quickly lead to a collapse of a front. He has to survive the next 4 turns but his one friend, giving ground, is also quickly dissipating in front of him. He has very little ground that can be given up now where it matters. Now, where can I nudge him to put him over the edge...... Time will tell
