Airfields, 10% of geography, units, and tech are all different. Feinder and I have played Pacific and this map, and Elessar's mod was way more fun, mostly because of more units (Japan only has 8 air units in Pacific). In my rework, airfields add a second strike/intercept ability to air units.
Ultimately, I would like to combine the "extras" of the dev's Pacific with this map.

It's almost to a "playable" state. I just finished the convoys. I just have to add existing units to the map and production que.
Are you using the same NATO counters [SIPRES] as Elessar uses in the mod? (I hope so. I prefer them. They are also available with Lothos's TRP mods).
Also keen to see what you come up with.

Lol I'm doing good to figure out scripting the Doolittle raid. I'm afraid matching the sprites to NATO is lower on the list. There are some renamed/themed units. For example, the Airship is a scouting Sea Planes (e.g. PBY) for both sides. Heavy Artillery turned into Coastal Defense Battery since it can damage ships. Tactical B is Dive Bomber, and Maritime B is Torpedo Bomber.

Those are some good changes planned. Well, I hope some kind of NATO units are used, as an alternative to the 3d sprites.
