The 1st Marine Division begins landing at Tulagi.
A number of disablements since they were not well prepared, but it should be no problem.
The A and B elements landed today.

Another Japanese bombardment at Changsha, looks favorable for me again.

In our discussions on Discord he has complained that he is not sure he can outfit his incoming units.
I expect his losses, especially in guns and vehicles are not helping that.

Good new, bad news day

Good, I took Tulagi with no losses and destroyed the unit that was there.
To my surprise there was a minefield at Tulagi, I never saw it.

The bad news is at Changteh. I did not expect him to attack this turn
He did bomb Changteh pretty heavily, I have some LRCAP set, but not sure if they will do any good.
He swept the base also with Zeros.

DD Hull will most likely be lost, she has 82 fire

CLAA San Diego is badly hurt, but no fires. I now have about 125 fighters up on CAP. I am leaving
some SCTFs there.
I have my DS meeting up with the TF that contains Wasp and 3 AO TFs just Southeast of Lunga. I need
to refuel and then head on to see if I can engage KB North of Lunga. Depends if he stays another turn or
two. MY Ds will consist of 3 USN CVs and 2 British CVS with the 4 Vanguard BBs in the escort.
While the loss of ships is painful, not completely unexpected, I will lose ships, I really hated losing the Long Island.
With my Variant Points I changed here to a Commencement Bay class, much more useful.
And I lost the air unit, cost 160 PPs to buy it back.

On the ground in China, another DA at Changteh

Ah, I forgot about your conversion of xAKLs to PFs. Thanks for the reminder. I love those PFs.

I see you didn't accelerate or add any photo recon aircraft like the F-4 or F-5 (or the bomber types). To me that's a big hole in the Allies' 1942 lineup. How are you managing recon?

Cheers,

I am handling recon very carefully. You are right, I think I should have bought 50 recon aircraft, but I didn't.

It appears that KB has left the area. I will still patrol the Solomon Islands with my DS.

In China, on the ground. Things are looking a bit grim at Changteh, but I think I can hold.
If I don't, I will have to abandon the Changsha Plain and set up North of the riverline.

I have reduced my garrison at Changsha, I have some other units moving in, they will take a few days.
I am sure he sees this and I wonder if he will try an attack. It could be a disaster for either of us.

I did intercept some of his escorted bombers and shot down a few.
Tracker says he lost 11 bombers.

At Changteh a Shock Attack by Japan. I was able to move 2 units in this turn in combat mode.
That helped a lot. Tracker shows I did not lose that many troops. Only about 90 squads.
A lot of FoW in that report. I wonder how many he actually lost.
I think Changteh will hold, more units are moving in.

Now the question is, Do I counter attack? There is a movement arrow on his troops at Changsha. So some are leaving
If they are in movement mode that will be a negative combat modifier.

Well his casualty figure is 28% of his total manpower count, but his AV casualties are 73% of his raw AV total. The only thing that would give me pause is the huge number of guns he has. But he would likely suffer huge casualties in your shock attack too. On balance - go for it!

Not much happened.

bombardment attacks on both Changsha and Changteh, minor causalities.

One of my surface TFs found and attacked a sub Off of Lord Howe Island.
Significant that it was I-16, a mini sub carrier, and I got a message in Tracker that an SSX floundered at Sydney.

Not a lot to report.

An SSX hit a mine at Sydney.

Not much. Sub sinking sounds heard during turn. Not sure what sub that was.

Normal bombardment attacks at Changsha and Changteh.
I am now trading out some of the units at Changsha. I have a number of units with experience over 60, so I am moving them out and
moving some with experience in the 40s in. Since he is continuing to bombard, my experience is going up. I am sure some of his
are also, but mine start lower and have a greater chance of increasing. Also, I think he is only using his ART most of the time so his
infantry are not getting experience.

I have a lot of sub sightings around Sydney

He is clearing my minefield at Sydney, one mine at a time.
Another SSX hit a mine at Sydney.
I heard sinking sounds of both a sub and a ship. Not sure what other ship sank.

Bombardments at both Changsha and Changteh.
At Changsha I lost 7 squads and he lost 5 guns, unsure who won/lost.

Not much. Usual bombardments at Changsha and Changteh.

Xargun flew sweeps over Tulagi with A6M2s. He lost 7 Zeros( 5 air-2-air and 2 ops)
I lost 3 P-400 all air-2-air. But I only lost 1 pilot, I am sure he lost more.

I do not have recent recon on Shortland, the only base other than Rabaul they
could have flown from. If they came from Rabaul they flew at maximum drop tank range.
That is not a good idea, lost of ops losses and fatigue.
